[0.28 lb] This lens hood comes with no instructions which may sound strange since you may never have had to use instructions to mount your lens hood on your lens before. However, it is made with a little locking mechanism that clicks into place when the lens hood is mounted on your lens. You must press a little button on the side to release the locking mechanism to take it off. There are no instructions provided for this. If you try to take it off without pressing the button you will surely damage it.


The first one I received locked properly with the hood mounted for storage, but in the usage position it did not lock and would easily fall off the lens. Either the little locking tooth that is used in the usage position was slightly out of place or broken and I received an item that had been returned by a previous purchaser who broke it


Its expensive because of this clever but delicate technology, so be sure to use the push button to remove the hood when you want to dismount it in either position - storage or usage potions.

[0.28 lb] If you're gong to buy such a superb lens you may as well buy the hood that is meant to be used with it. It is pretty large, but there is no doubt that it will entirely do the job of preventing lens flare. Well designed, sturdy, fits exactly right and looks great. If you've used any of the modern Zeiss M-mount lenses and their bayonet hoods, this is similar- if not a bit heavier built.

[Zipper] I purchased the Leica M 11 a couple of months ago and quickly decided that Voigtlander lenses would not only be more economical but lighter and just as good as the Leica's. Out of the 10 lenses lenses that I bought, only two came without lens hood. and while I tried out several advertised on Amazon, they either didn't fit or totally destroyed the look of the camera and lens. Luckily, I found the LH-8 and 10 hoods. They fit perfectly and enhance the lens. I recommend them without hesitation.
