These tripod cases have clips keeping the lid on so if the case gets hit in just the right way it could open the lid. If you were consistently checking these for fly dates then I would recommend our 3i-3613-12BE (empty), 3i-3613-12BL (with foam)or 3i-2213-12BE (empty), or 3i-2213-12BC (with foam). These options are made to take much more abuse from being shipped or checked on airlines. Also these options have pull out handle and wheels where the 1SKB-R2411 does not. If you purchase any of these cases empty or use the 1SKB-R2411 I would recommend putting the tripods and heads in sleeves or padded bags if flying.
