The BOSS CP-1X is a compression pedal intended for use with electric guitars. At first glance, the pedal looks like a familiar BOSS compressor stompbox with familiar BOSS controls: Level, Attack, Ratio, and Comp are on hand to help you dial in your sound. However, BOSS has employed proprietary MDP technology, which ensures that these controls will interact with each other in a sophisticated manner, giving you multiband compression that is musical, transparent, and effective.

Indeed, the pedal is designed to preserve the expressive actions of your playing while facilitating the dynamic evenness necessary to make compressor stompboxes successful in their operation. Thus, arpeggios, fast solos, heavy riffs, and chicken pickin’ licks can be heard in all their glory, with each note individuated, yet controlled. This kind of multiband approach also serves seven- and eight-string guitars, as it can control the upper register without sacrificing the punch of the low end. With a separate level control, the pedal also can be used to achieve an overall volume boost.

The CP-1X offers buffered-bypass circuitry to preserve your signal’s tone over long cable runs and complicated pedalboard setups. It will operate on a single 9V battery for up to three hours of continuous use, though you can also use the pedal with an AC adapter (available separately).

Typical stompbox compressors color and restrict your sound, and are hard to dial in for various playing styles. The powerful MDP engine analyzes your guitar’s many different tonal elements in real time, providing natural compression that intelligently follows and adapts to your playing. With this approach, your true tone and technique always comes through, even when using aggressive settings for squashing the sound.

BOSS’s proprietary Multi-Dimensional Processing (MDP) technology analyzes the various elements that make up the sound, including frequency, overtones, dynamics, pickup response, and more. Various playing characteristics are analyzed as well, such as note register, single notes vs. chords, bends, vibrato amount, and others. Each individual element is then processed to give you transparency, as well as evenness of tone.

The CP-1X's controls interact with each other at a detailed level. Thus, when you turn a knob, numerous interlocked parameters are adjusted under the hood at once. This gives you a rather sophisticated slate of controls for a pedal when it comes to compressing and tone-shaping. Still, you don't need to be a sound engineer to use the CP-1X. Its MDP processing has been fine-tuned to facilitate polished tones quickly.

The CP-1X utilizes 18V input circuitry that provides ample headroom for the hottest guitar pickups, ensuring clarity for any instrument. A 16-segment gain reduction indicator clearly displays the compression amount, making it easy to see what the pedal's doing.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this bag come packed flat to be accomodated in a suitcase?

A: When I travel i put my gear in an airline size hard case with wheels. I pack my Domke bag in my luggage but stuff it with underwear and toiletries. No need to flatten it.

Q: 2. How would this fue with a gfx100s, couple lenses and aQ2

A: Perfect match for the GFX 100 a few lens and accessories with no problem.

Q: 3. Do these have connections for digital output

A: There is no digital I/O. All of the connections are analog.

Q: 4. Does the top cover zipper closed or is it just a flap? I work around debris filled environments and like a zipped closure.

A: The Domke F2 bag has a zippered pouch inside the flap. The pouch is nearly the size of the entire flap. The outer canvas of the flap is lined with Cordura-like material. The canvas is relatively water proof since cotton canvas swells when wet. I have probably used up a dozen or so Domke bags over the years—they are very sturdy, but using them to carry heavy video equipment (five-pound batteries, etc.) eventually cuts through the canvas when dragging the bags in and out of trains, planes, and automobiles—ships and submarines too. If you plan to carry the bag on your shoulder all day, the F2 is the largest you should go. The F2 has an outer pocket on each end large enough to hold a Stephen King paperback novel, closed with a velcroed flap. There is an exterior pouch on the back large enough for an iPad Pro. There are two open pockets on the front that have no individual flaps, but that are secured by the top flap when it is clipped shut. Each is just a bit smaller than a typical paperback novel. Inside, a padded board is fit in, covering the bottom. A strip of velcro is sewed along the two long sides. A padded Cordura four section set of pockets, each large enough to hold a moderately sized full frame lens (eight inches by three inches) can be attached to the velcro strips sewed to the sides. There will also be space inside at one end for a DSLR or mirrorless camera with a moderately sized lens pointing up. If you have fast lenses or long zooms, two of the four padded cells may need to remain empty. I would keep chargers and extra batteries in an end pocket, filters in the side pockets; documents, flash memory toothbrush & toothpaste, and medication in the zippered pocket. Phil

Q: 5. Will the Waza air work with active and passive pickups?

A: The BOSS Waza-Air Wireless Personal Guitar Amplification System BH #BOWAZAAIR would need to be active.

Q: 6. Can this be used to compress audio from drum mics in live recording?

A: Yes the Behringer MDX-4600V2 can be used for drum compression.

Q: 7. How weather resistant is this bag?

A: is manufactured from cotton canvas that is naturally water-resistant, but which is a 'breathable" fabric so the air in the case stays dry even in humid environments. However, the manufacturer does not list a specific weather rating or IP rating for the case. It should be okay for use in light or moderate rain or snow and in humid conditions.

Q: 8. Does this unit has De-esser functions?

A: No

Q: 9. Where is this magnifier made? USA?

A: The Carson CP-45 MeasureLoupe (11.5x) is currently made in Taiwan.

Q: 10. Is one allowed to connect Boss BR-80 to a guitar amplifier, and how to do it? Via line out? Is it the way to monitor the recordings etc. (besides having the earphones)? Or is it better to connect it to a home hi fi stereo set and how?

A: Connect the Boss MICRO BR BR-80 to the amp via its line input and monitor via the BR-80's Headphone out with headphones or connect powered speakers or a home AV receiver to its LINE output.

[18 V] I own a couple Ernie Ball VP Jr volume pedals, and while these pedals are superior to the Boss FV50 in terms of build quality and feel, they're heavy. I'm putting together a small pedalboard for bus and train travel and so weight is my primary concern. I picked up the FV50H for use with guitar as well as the EV-5 expression pedal. So far they're working out great.

[Buffered] First, I love this item . I have a Roland GR55 now. When I have access to AC power, I have a ball with it.
But,
I busk in my town’s Main Street where AC power is not available. Granted, the SY-1 isn’t as sophisticated and the GR 55, but now I can expand my guitars palette of tones.

I had been searching for this item for months. All the typical outlets kept pushing their in stock dates forward in time. I even made a purchase of the SY-1 on eBay, only to have the seller cancel the sale for no apparent reason.
I searched again and saw it listed on B&H. It said it was in stock. I called and was told it was in inventory. A few days later it was in my hands .

Cannot Be too positive about my experience with B&H. They came thru..hands down.

I have shopped with them before, but now, they are my first go to place for music gear.

THANK YOU!!
