This Wimberley 1/4"-20 Safety Stop Screw Sidekick Gimbal Adapterfrom Wimberley 1/4"-20 Safety Stop Screw Sidekick Gimbal Adapteris a replacement or spare part for the SK-100 Sidekick ball to gimbal head adapter. It can be used on one of the threaded holes in the Sidekick as a safety stop for select clamping plates. This helps prevent accidents and can keep the rig more stable while shooting.

Clamps compatible with this screw include the Wimberley C-10, C-11, and C-12, as well as select RRS and Kirk products. Other models may work, but the clamp must have a dedicated safety stop channel or measure 1.75" or shorter at its base in order to allow the Sidekick to straddle it. For easy installation, an 1/8" hex key is included in the package.

Q: 1. Will this system work with my KIRK BH-3 ball head....and my canon 500 f4 L lens..? also what plate do I need on the lens .. a P 40 or P 50 quick release plate?

A: I have used it on a Gitzo tripod with a Canon 600mm f4 and it was fine. I would not recommend carrying this combo on the shoulder as an assembly however.

Q: 2. Can it be used with a monopod?

A: I have actually used this combination at many professional sporting events. I use the tilt of the Sidekick, but lock the pan base down and turn the monopod to get the side to side motion I need. Doing it that way, makes it a little less unwieldy.

Q: 3. I presently have a Benro A1192TB0 Travel Flat II Tripod. Will this gimbal head work with it?

A: While I am not familiar with your tripod, it has the appropriate fitting on top of the ball. It should work.

Q: 4. HI, I have Manfrotto MK190XPRO4-BHQ2 Aluminum, do i need to buy additional accessories so that i can attach this wimberly gimbal in tripod ball head?

A: You will need Arca compatible head

Q: 5. Hi, will this sidekick work with the Sirui K-30X ball head?

A: It will! Per Wimberley, it will work well even on the smaller and lighter K-20x. I contacted them directly about using the Sidekick with the K-20x, a Canon 7Dii w/grip, and a Canon 100-400ii. Their response: Yes, the Sirui K-20x is an excellent choice for use our Sidekick and your listed equipment.

Q: 6. My ball head is an Induro BHL3. Camera is D810 and lens Nikon 80-400mm Will the Wimberly Sidekick work without further adaptation?

A: As long as the tripod head has an Arca type quick release clamp, it should work. You simply lay the clamp over (as if shooting a vertical photo), and slide the sidekick into the clamp. The quick release plate on the lens will have to be long enough to slide the camera/lens combination forward or back to balance it correctly. When properly balanced, the camera/lens combination should be able to move easily when the knob is slightly tightened, and not fall front or backward.

Q: 7. I have Nikon 200-500 with the RRS collar and foot. Does this foot fit perfectly tight on the Sidekick?

A: Yes, fully compatible.

Q: 8. I have a Nikon z6ii and Nikon 500m PF. Will the sidekick work with this combo? I saw in the instructions that smaller lenses/cameras may not work

A: Yes the Nikon Z6 II equipped with the Nikon FTZ adapter and the Nikon AF-S 500mm PF lens can be used on the SK100.

Q: 9. Can I use the Wimberley Arca Sidekick Ball to Gimbal Head Adapter on Gitzo GT1555t tripod with GH1382TQD Head ?

A: The Wimberley Arca Sidekick Ball to Gimbal Head Adapter is compatible with the Gitzo GT1555T Series 1 Traveler Carbon Fiber Tripod and Gitzo GH1382TQD Series 1 Traveler Center Ball Head.

Q: 10. can you recommend an Induro ball head that will properly work with this? I'm buying the Induro CLT 404L tripod also.

A: I use the Arca sidekick with an induro BHL3 ballhead on a CT 404 tripod. Very sturdy combination. I would highly recommend

[1/8" hex key] I throw most of my equipment in a single bag while traveling, and find this to be good protection not only for the gimbal head, but also for other things that might bang against the head. Useful and good quality product. 5

[1/8" hex key] I struggled with this issue between bulk, weight, and convenience and... to me, this is the way to go. It's small and lightweight, easy!! to install and balance, and there is no downside unless your ballhead isn't up to the task. I have it on a Benro B2, rated at 35 LB, and it's perfect. Considered Acratech GP as an overall ballhead and gimbal alternative but... everything is hanging off the side, completely outbalancing your tripod unless you're careful. This thing, perfectly centered over the pan base simply distributes the weight and force as it should be. Plus, so easy to take on/off in the field. Love it, high Wimberley quality, and Highly recommended. 5

I use the lens on the RRS BH-55 ball head, and I also replaced the Nikon lens bracket with the RRS. At first, I was happy with this setup, then I attempted BIF, and well, it was no longer the right tool for the job. After some research, the Wimberley Sidekick came highly recommended so I purchased it. Now I have the right setup for stationary wildlife, or BIF. The gimbal head adapter is well made and it works well with the RRS BH-55. It's easy to set up, and I know it works with other ball heads too. 5
