A: Any extension of the lens tube (including filter rings) beyond the front element of a wide angle lens will cause vignetting if it intersects the lens' field of view (FOV). VND filters are longer because they have two polarizing elements, increasing the likelihood of vignetting with ultra wide angles. One possible solution would be to use a low-profile 82 to 95mm step-up ring with a 95mm VND filter so that the filter ring would lie outside the FOV. The adapter ring will extend the lens tube slightly, but less than an 82mm VND would.
