[1.69 lb] We have 3 of them and love the video performance, durability and reliability they offer. Used mostly in ballrooms the 1 sesnor delivers good video in low light situations. Never seen one stop recording or fail to save the file which is vital. It's 2023 and it look like Sony has stopped producing the camera and unfortunatly has not announced a replacement. Get one while you can.

[1.2 lb / 0.5 kg] I wanted a 4k camcorder and found this one to run alongside an A7r V. My first mistake was thinking it’d be nearly as fast or sharp as the A7r V, but once you accept that it’s a very good device for a fraction of the price of an A7r V and its sole purpose is to do video it’s very good. I found that it underexposes slightly, so I’d recommend using exposure compensation and bumping it up .2 or .5 stops to achieve proper exposure, for my liking. You may be happy with what it looks like. The focus is very fast, it grabs a face and holds on to it. I also paired it with an external mic from Sony because the camera audio leaves something to be desired. Now that I’ve been able to play with this camera for 2 weeks I’m very happy with it and would suggest it to anyone looking for a camcorder that can do 4k. It’s truly a beast for my purposes (home videos and such). It creates very creamy bokeh as well which I wasn’t expecting from a camcorder.

[1.69 lb] Porta-Brace has a reputation for rugged, efficient field cases, and this is no exception. The entire front folds down with a double-zippered flap, with open access to the contents. Flaps with Velcro overlap the cover, offering excellent weather protection. There is just enough room for the FDR-AX700 with hood attached, and a divided area for the charger and an extra battery or two. The AX700 looks small in photos, but it is nearly 11 long and 4 wide in this configuration.

[1.69 lb] I Purchased one of these a year ago and was pleased with it. I have progressed in my skills to the point of wanting to do two camera shoots. Wanted two identical cameras to make my life a bit easier. Got the second one at a close out price. Seems that this model is discontinued. These cameras meet my needs. Enough adjustments that can be made be manually to keep me learning.

[1.2 lb / 0.5 kg] I have had several of these, and also the AX-100 for many years, and with the larger capacity battery, are my grab-and-go cameras.
I highly recommend adding the
Sony ECMXYST1M Stereo Microphone on top, it runs off of the camera battery and will provide wind-protected audio in wide stereo.
When using them for indoor interviews, I add the
Sony ECM-B1M Compact Shotgun Microphone with Digital Audio Interface, when I need to cancel side noise. It fits this camera body perfectly and you select your audio shape.
The AX700 has slow-motion capability that I can't find anywhere else at more than 900 fps. At 1080p
I purchased this one as they are beginning to be hard to come by and I can't find anything else in the price range that performs this good.
4k is excellent, with plenty of dynamic range for post-production.
I do not recommend the still-capture image capability.
I take these out in snowy winter conditions and once back to the studio I drop the entire thing into a tote full of desiccant packs until the temperature balances with the room and all moisture is removed.
Get one now, I highly recommend them and the price is going down as they seem to be getting phased out.
The close-up focus check button is also an excellent feature.
I could not recommend this camera more. I have no reservations about the Sony AX-700

[1.69 lb] Owning 7 FDR-AX100's I know all ins and outs of that cam. Now I bought an FDR-AX700 and am very pleased with it. The grip has improved tremendously and the autofocus is very good and fast (the only disadvantage of the AX100 is the slow autofocus after a theater-blackout). The menu is now the same as the pro-line (like the PXW-X70), witch is a good thing. I'm so pleased with the AX700 that I buy another one tomorrow.

[1.69 lb] We got this camera to record our son as he is growing and partaking in activities. Be it sports, school plays, birthday parties, we wanted a camera that could last. The B&H staff was very helpful, I was doing an online order and called their customer service with some questions. All my questions were answered, the associate was able to ensure I had everything I needed to start off with. The website is well built for doing research on assecories and comparing items. It makes it pretty hassle free to try to figure out what I needed/wanted.
