Featuring durable yet lightweight aluminum construction, the Oben GH-30 Gimbal Head for Camera Stabilizationfrom Oben GH-30 Gimbal Head for Camera Stabilizationis designed to balance a lens and camera along its vertical and horizontal axes. Ideal for shooting moving subjects such as birds, wildlife, and athletic events, the gimbal head ensures you can use your telephoto or zoom lens to quickly aim and shoot your subject. The unit's built-in fluid motion assures smooth and uniform panning. Unwieldy lenses that are normally too large or heavy to be moved and aimed quickly can be tilted or swiveled effortlessly, and large, easy-to-grip locking knobs and an Arca-type quick release plate allow for swift and secure lens mounting. The GH-30 mounts onto most tripods with a 3/8"-16 threaded stud, and the strong and durable curved main arm supports and balances loads up to 44 lb, so even a large lens feels weightless.

Designed to balance a camera and lens setup of up to 44 lb, the GH-30 gives you the ability to effortlessly maneuver a heavy camera and lens that would normally be too large or cumbersome to move and aim quickly.

The fluid motion built into the arm of the gimbal lets you effortlessly move your camera while tracking moving subjects such as birds, wildlife, athletes, and airplanes, and with the GH-30 you get smooth and fluid motion when moving the lens along either axis.

Adjustable features allow you to quickly balance your gear while providing rigid support and stability. For sports and wildlife photography, the gimbal head provides the stability to balance and hold your camera and lens in place while you get your shot.

Compatible with most tripods that have a 3/8"-16 threaded stud.

An Arca-type quick release plate allows you to quickly mount your camera and lens to the gimbal head, and the included plate is designed with security pins to prevent it from accidentally slipping off the mounting platform.

Two 1/4"-20 threaded mounting screws and included 1/4"-20 to 3/8"-16 bushings assure compatibility with most lens collars.

Numbered scales provide a convenient way to mark the position of your setup so you can quickly rebalance your lens the next time you use it.

Easy-to-grip locking knobs securely lock the panning joint, swinging arm, platform adjustment, and quick release plate locks.

Compatible with lenses such as 70-200mm f/2.8 or f/4, 100-400mm, 150-600mm, 300mm f/4, 400mm f/5.6, 200-500mm, and other similar-sized lenses.

A: Yes, the Oben GH-30 can work on the Slik 500 DX Tripod.

Q: 2. will this work with canon 1dx mkii and canon 400 f2.8 III?

Q: 3. Do both pivots use ball bearings?

A: Sorry. I dont know. (Seems like the manufacturer could answer that question.). But I am very pleased with the gimbal head. Julia

Q: 4. Will this quick release plate work on a Nikon 200-500 telephoto lens?

A: Yes, the plate will work with the Nikon 200-500mm.

Q: 5. Will it work with the Peak design travel tripod? Or do i hv to use an universal head adopter ?

A: In order to use the Oben GH-30 Gimbal Head on the Peak Design Travel Tripod, you would need the Peak Design Universal Head Adapter, BH #PEUHDADPT (https://bhpho.to/3VhTKEl).

Q: 6. Can this mount a large body like an R3 with a short/light lens (without a tripod collar)? Will the body clear the vertical arm?

A: A gimbal such as the Oben GH-30 is not meant for mounting the camera body. Instead the foot from a long lens is mounted and the body sits behind the gimbal. So the Canon R3 camera will not fit on the GH-30 but the Canon R3 plus the Canon 70-200 f2.8 RF lens will fit.

Q: 7. Is it compatible with Oben AC-1451 4-Section Aluminum Tripod?

A: I also have an Oben GH-30 gimbal head 3/8 screw. It works fine with my Canon 5D and on the clamp on the 400mm prime focus Canon lens. Balances perfectly.

Q: 8. Can it be converted to side mount (like Jobu)?

A: So that we may best assist you, please email us at prophoto@bhphoto.com.

Q: 9. l work with the manfrotto be free gt?

A: Yes once you remove the head from the Manfrotto Befree GT Travel Aluminum Tripod with 496 Ball Head (Black) you can fit the Oben GH-30 Gimbal Head.

Q: 10. I hope my question is not too, I guess, stupid, but I'll ask regardless and hope for the best. Can I use it, and would it work well with my Fuji GFX 100 and GFX 100S not using large zoom-type lenses? I have the GF 100mm, GF 32-64mm, and several others, but I wonder if this unit would be worth the purchase if I use these lenses? Thank you for your thoughts. Oh, and I'll be using it on a "Really Right Stuff" tripod. Again, thank you!

A: This Gimbal is definitely usable for your setup, though maybe not ideal. Gimbals are generally best suited for tracking wildlife and the like. For general use I would suggest looking at a Ball Head or a Pan and Tilt Head.

[Yes] Using this with a iFootage Gazelle TC7 Fastbowl Carbon Fiber Tripod and my canon R7 and Rf 800 lens. So far no issues and it is meeting my needs. Gimbal was easy to set up and use. My first gimbal, so I don't have a reference in how it compares to others.

[Gimbal Head] I wanted a gimbal head to go with a ground-pod for improved waterfowl photography. The Big Boy was too expensive, and I went for this one for a good sale price from B&H. It seems to be very substantial for the money and will serve me well. It might not be for someone with the 600/4, but for lighter equipment, it looks like it will excel. B&H got it here quickly and in good shape.

[Yes] I am very pleased with this gimbal head. I bought it for my Nikon Z8 with the Z100-400mm. It attached securely to my tripod and took only minutes to set up and balance my camera and lens. And that’s by someone who never used a gimbal head before. It is built solid and works very smoothly. Holds the position of my lens perfectly. It is a bit heavy, but even with that I would definitely recommend it.

[Yes] I have not tested this out in the field yet, but I did set it up at home the other day. This is my first gimbal head, I purchased it because I have been trying out bird photography. (I'm a RRS ball head user for everything else.) This may not be the most expensive gimbal head, but right out of the box it seems sturdy and well made. It has some heft to it. Setting it up was easy and it screws right onto my old Manfrotto tripod. I appreciate that it comes with a QR plate and two screws for different attachment setups. I mounted my Nikon 200-500mm lens and the movement is very smooth. The adjustment knobs are solid and seem to hold the tension well. I am looking forward to using this in the field to steady such a large lens but also be able to respond to the movement of the birds.

[Gimbal Head] Doing birds and airplanes in flight, ball heads and pan heads just didn't work for me., This gimbal makes swinging even my big 150-600 Sigma even with a 1.4x on it much easier and smoother. And it is relatively low weight as well.

[Gimbal Head] I haven't had much opportunity to use this item yet, but it seems to be exactly what I was looking for as I do a lot of wildlife photography. B & H is always good to deal with. Fair prices and excellent customer service.

[3.705 lb] Simple system of high quality and professional results. When placing it on my tripod I could see that it does not generate vibration or wiggling during the photographic sessions. My lens telephotos work very well in a robust system.

[Gimbal Head] Recommended by B&H for my 9lb camera spotting scope config. With a balance rail the GH-30 offers a nice smooth panning and tilt combination. For videography I do find the controls to be a little too sensitive for solid active tracking. 1/24th of a turn of either control can make the difference between too much movement and not enough. With just the weight of the spotting scope without the camera, however, I get much better results. Overall a great value and a big improvement over larger more convoluted pan tilt heads.
