[Velour] The pads on my ATH-M50x started to flake after some months of use. I typically tend to use them for extended periods with breaks in-between. To be fair, you're supposed to give them a cleaning after use so that may be the cause of the flaking over time.

Besides that, they got to a point where the headphones felt unbearable and quite fatiguing due to the pads getting too soft, making the headphones clamp on harder than before. After doing some research, the other alternatives--although comfortable--were too thick (which changes the sound a bit) and cost a little too much for what they were imho. I wanted to have pads that had comfort as well as allowed the sound to be close to the original.

Eventually I heard about Dekoni. Went over some reviews and heard good feedback. What made me pull the trigger on these were the size and cost. They came in very neat and simple packaging. No instructions but I assumed that's because it's such a simple process, there was no need to include any. They should still provide it because what may be simple for one is a challenge for another.

After removing the old ones, then giving the shell a cleaning with some isopropyl alcohol, these went on easily. You just have to be gentle and take your time. You'll have to stretch it a little to fit completely but that's not an issue.

They feel way better than the ones that came with the M50 and I honestly couldn't tell the difference in sound between the two. This is exactly what I was looking for. It's been over a couple of weeks since they've been in use and I don't have any issues or regrets so far. Would definitely recommend.

[0.45 lb] Popped these earpads onto my ATH-M50X to replace the old, flaking originals. They have given new life! Padding is comfortable, and they were easy to put on. Have not noticed any drop in sound quality. Recommended replacements if your earpads are on their last legs--a very worthwhile fix for the price!

[0.45 lb] I go through a set of ear pads every year or two on my Sony MDRv-6 headphones. I thought the velour wouldn't be as sticky and hot in the summer. The pads fit the cans well and don't seem to affect the sonic quality. They're also comfortable. I'd buy them again. If this was for work at the studio (sharing) I'd stick with the faux leather for sanitary reasons.

[Velour] Definitely an improvement over the slick vinyl covers that deteriorate and leave black flecks on your ears and face. I prefer the texture as well; it's not sticky during the summer and warmer during the winter.

That said, nothing lasts forever and you will have to replace these before you see any exterior wear...

I've had my 7506s since the mid-90s and like others I've had to replace the ear pads after 3-4 years as the smooth vinyl begins to deteriorate. After going through this a few times I eventually found these velour pads and thought my problems were solved.

On the exterior they were - I've had these velour pads for close to a decade now and while they do have a bit of the smooth vinyl on the part that attaches to the headphones, and while that did deteriorate and come off after a couple of years, the actual velour pads have been fine.

However, a few weeks ago I noticed a buzz in my left driver. At first I thought the driver had finally broken, but I realized that the buzz wasn't consistent as you would expect from a broken driver. After taking off the covers I found the issue: while the exterior of the pads has held up, the thin layer of foam that covers the drivers had begun to deteriorate and little pieces had fallen onto the driver cone. After a very delicate extraction and cleaning of the foam crumbs the driver was buzz-free. But it was not an easy process.

The point is that while the exterior of these hold up well, the foam on the interior will eventually deteriorate.

I was able to remove and clean that out, but it could have ruined the drivers. So I'd recommend checking on these periodically - much better to catch this and replace the pads than deal with a delicate and messy cleaning. You can use the slick vinyl on the exterior collar as a warning guide! After all of that has deteriorated and come off, it's probably a good time to examine the interior!

[Velour] The stock replacements from Grado are uncomfortable and they deteriorate badly. These are comfortable, give a better fit, and give my R-1’s a richer and fuller sound.

[Velour] These earpads are better than the Audio Technica earpads. I have a brand new set of the ATH-M50X headphones and an ATH-M50 set that I've had for years. The old set with the new pads is more comfortable and form-fitting than the new set. These earpads are better at blocking out noise and my wife.

I'm not an audiophile knowledgeable in the ways of headphones, but the Audio Technica headphones are very nice wired headphones.

Will I buy a set of new earpads to repace the new earpads on my new headphones? All signs point to yes. Not sure when, but it'll happen.

So nice.

YOU WILL HAVE BUYER'S REMORSE. Sorry, but true. These are 3 to 4 times as expensive as fake leather earpads. Don't worry. If you've made it to the point where you're reading reviews, you already know you're buying these.

Product is labeled special order but I got it pretty quick. I cannot say what your experience will be.

If you're eco-aware, you won't like the box these come in. A single-use box does not need a magnetic closure. If you're luxury oriented, you'll love the box just before you throw it away.

[Velour] Haven't used my headphones much since I got these, but they're soft and easy to install... so if that's your thing, go for it!

[Velour] I purchased these ear pads for a pair of Koss Pro-dj200 headphones. They were a little hard to get on, but they fit fine. They are way more comfortable than the stock pads. The sound did not change at all. Good ear-pads Dekoni

[0.45 lb] These pads are thicker but softer than the stock balanced pads, so they are a significant upgrade in comfort for glasses wearers like me. As far as the sound signature changes go, I find that it closely matches what Dekoni themselves measured on the Dt1990 on their blog. Unfortunately that means it's not the holy grail that tames the Beyer treble that the internet is abuzz about. I liked my mids just the way they were on the balanced pads, so unfortunately any deviation from that is a slight downgrade that I am still figuring out how to eq back. Still, the improvement in comfort alone is worth it.
