Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How would this perform as a headset mic for football/basketball playcallers? Is the isolation pretty good?

A: This product works well for this application, providing decent off-axis rejection of unwanted ambient sound. Keeping your gain settings a little lower on the bodypack will also help reduce ambient bleed. In particularly loud environments and in sports applications, it may also be helpful to mute or turn off your bodypack between announcements or calls to avoid unwanted speech or noise transmissions between uses.

Q: 2. Where do you place this on the body for a clergy. Is lav mic better?

A: Lavalier microphones such as the Shure WL93 Subminiature Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with 4' Cable and TA4F Connector are commonly mounted to the subject's chest or lapel, either under or over fabric. They can be concealed with a variety of lav concealers, such as BH #BUBBIILCM30.

Q: 3. Do they have this in a mini jack version, so I can connect it to my h1?

A: A Zoom H1 will not support the necessary power requirement for a Shure WL93. The WL93's condenser element requires 5+Vdc to operate whereas the Zoom H1's powered 3.5mm input provides only 2.5 volts of plug-in power. To ensure compatibility with your H1, you will need to select another plug-in mic that either has a condenser or MEMS style element with a lower power requirement or has a dynamic element requiring no power.

Q: 4. We have the Shure MX153 earset. It needs to be replaced. Will this this work ?

A: Yes, the Pyle Pro PMHMS20 Omnidirectional Headset Microphone for Shure Wireless Transmitters (Beige, TA4F) would be capable of replacing the Shure MX153 Earset Headworn Microphone to work with Shure transmitters with onboard TA4 connections. Both mics are omni pickup pattern, but the Pyle is a dual ear headset mount as opposed to the MX153's single ear configuration.

Q: 5. Is there a wireless system that works with this mic that I could buy AFTER buying this mic? I don't have the budget for a wireless system and I want to start with this then buy the receiver and transmitter later.

A: B&H stocks an adapter cable, Shure part # WA310 that is a plug and play solution for connecting the WH20 XLR to a Shure wireless body pack transmitter. If you wish to build your own, the connector for Shure body packs is a switchcraft TA4F. Wiring diagrams are available on Shure's website.

Q: 6. Will this mic work with the VocoPro mini xlr transmitter?

A: No, it will not work because the Pyle Pro headset has a 4-pin mini XLR connector and the VocoPro transmitter uses a 3-pin mini XLR connector. For a similar type headset mic in the same price range, you can use the Peavey PV-1 Headset (B&H # PEPV1HS) which has the correct TA3F that is compatible with the VocoPro transmitter.

Q: 7. I have a behringer q1202 usb mixer. Will this headset mic work with the XLR connector plugged in directly?

A: Yes, the WH20 with the XLR connector will work with your Q1202. It is a dynamic mic, so you do not use Phantom Power.

Q: 8. Will this 6 foot mic work with the the SM93 XLR preamp?

A: Yes, it will. If you already have the Shure 90A4360 preamp, you can use any WL93 with in a wired application. If you do not yet have the preamp, you have two options based on what cable length you need. If you need 6' of cable, you will have to purchase the mic and preamp separately, but if you only need 4' of cable you can simply purchase the SM93 which already includes both the mic and the preamp. Q: 9. How do you connect the Shure with a sennhesier pack?

A: Not easily. The Shure microphone is a TA4F/Mini XLR. Sennhesser uses a locking 3.5 mini connector on many of their wireless bodypack transmitters. We do not sell an adapter for this purpose.

Q: 10. Can I wear headphones with this mic if I need to,?

A: Yes, you can wear headphones while using the WH-20 headset mic. It's a matter of which style headphones are most comfortable for you while wearing the mic. In-ear style headphones will most likely be the easiest to use.

[Beige] As a drummer in nightclubs, I need to walk around the dance floor with a wireless mic on my drum.
This mic has been a perfect solution. It is tough, sounds great, and easy to hook up.
Very happy with my purchase.

[Omnidirectional] This is a great mic for saxophonists. I purchased it to replace the one that came with my original wireless system I bought in 2006 to tour with Anita Baker. I love it's sound and durability. I move a lot when I perform, and I had to replace it because the plastic housing broke after 8 years of me abusing it all over the country. Even thiough the clip broke, the mic kept on working. We duct taped it and I continued to use it in a few more local shows until my new one was shipped. Every now and then I run into a wireless frequency issue, but I bought the lower end system so I expect that from time to time. These are much better sounding and longer lasting than others I've owned in the past.

[Beige] I'm a sax player and this mic works great. The reproduction of clear sound quality is exactly what I need from a mic. The flexibility and mounting configurations make it a true joy to use. I would recommend it to my friends and buy another if needed.

[5 to 50 V] I bought this clip on mic to use with my Tenor and Alto sax. I was originally using a beta 87 on a stand, so at first I was worried about considerable quality loss: not so! I even use it with the cheaper shure pgx wireless system and it sounds great! I am gonna have to buy another one soon to keep them ready on both saxes instead of switching....I should have bought this years ago.

[0.545 lb] This is a great mic for Horns or Drums. It's a quick install, so if you have a horn player with multiple instruments, they can easily change between them.
