The beige DPA 4288 Directional Single-Ear Headset Mic Microdot Beigefrom DPA 4288 Directional Single-Ear Headset Mic Microdot Beigeis designed for theater and broadcast applications, and can be mounted on either the left or right ear, depending on your preference. The mic features the 4088 cardioid capsule and the Core microphone amplifier delivers a 14 dB increase in dynamic range over the previous Legacy model. It can be used for both singing and speaking applications and the capsule is optimized for low distortion as well as humidity resistance.

The 88 cardioid headset microphone is available with single- or dual-ear mounts and offers fast and easy mounting. This single-ear headset is ergonomically designed to fit comfortably around the head. The mic adjusts to fit any ear size and head shape while at the same time it mounts securely and is hardly visible. In addition, the connector splits the cable from the microphone boom allowing you to quickly swap broken cables and/or wireless connectors.

A: This mic is specifically wired for wireless transmitter that uses a TA4 connection, and provides plug- in power at about 5 volts. In order to connect it to a XLR, you would also need an adapter that can convert plug in power to accept 48-volt phantom power from an XLR source. Voice Technologies VT1126 48V Phantom Power Adapter for Wireless Lavalier Microphones (TA4 to XLR), BH #VOVT0137 would be an appropriate adapter for this purpose.

[Cardioid] Overall this mic is good quality bought for our pastor who tends to produce high SPL during his speech. To get best results had to switch -30db on our SK 100 G2 bodypack transmitter and slide back mic away from pastor's mouth. Been using this mic for few weeks and my only concern whether mic's frame will hold-up for very long it seems very fragile. The quality and dynamic response of this mic is pleasant. 5

[Beige] DPA makes The Best Lavalier mics so naturally this is a great strong and very thin cable if you need long runs, especially for sound effects recordings. The quality is Exceptional! 5

[Cardioid] I’ve been using many different brands, types and sizes of headsets for decades in live dialogue amplification applications. I have purchased scores of them over the years, and currently have a good sized locker of various DPA, Countryman, Sennheiser, Shure, Audio Technica, and other headset mics. Compared to the usual industry leaders, the Galaxy HSM8 sounds just fine - clean, plenty of headroom, feedback resistant, and easy to e.q. in the typical headset fashion. My users report it to be exceptionally comfortable... “forgot I was wearing it” is typical. I like the adjustability system. Simple, makes sense, packs down quickly into the case, and most importantly it is intuitive for users to put on by themselves. This was a BIG plus for me. Right out of the box, it just seemed to sit of the average size head and work without any fussiness. Historically, I’m generally putting headsets on for people because they seem to struggle with self-installation, but the HSM-8 seems to be the welcome exception. Last but not least, It is a HUGE plus that the mic comes with four (!) spare cables. FINALLY, a manufacturer who realizes that these fussy little cables are normal wear items that must be routinely replaced. I’m all for high end audio, but come on...The greatest sounding headset in the world Is useless if the cable routinely breaks and cannot be field repaired. (hint to DPA) And, when cables can be replaced, but spares are so expensive that I have to specially budget to carry three or four with me, that’s not much better either (Hint to Countryman). Bottom line: Galaxy has a great idea here. A comfortable, reasonably priced headset with all the right features AND which sounds quite good. I bet they will sell a ton of them. I’m very happy with mine! 5

[Cardioid] We have used SEVERAL brands of omni headset mics. These and the DPA mics topped the list, in a shootout of several mics, topped the list in quality and clarity. All I use at this point are these mics. They are cheap, easy to repair, and sound great! 5

[Beige] Expensive for this small thing, but it's worth it. I've tried knock offs and they just don't hold up. One thing to watch out for is the little clip thing on the end. It can be easily broken if dropped. Once it's broke, it will not stay hooking into a receiver and can be pulled out easily. 5
