Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. possible to connect to Soundcraft 16i stage box?

A: No, the 16i is intended for use with Soundcraft's Si series consoles. You can use the Soundcraft Mini Stagebox 16 (B&H # SOMSB) which is compatible with the Vi1000 as well as any of the Vi or Si range of consoles. The Mini Stagebox 16 connects via a MADI card fitted to the option card slot.

Q: 2. Can i use a Dijital Shake with this mixer?

A: The TF mixer can be modified to utilize the proprietary Tio interface that connects via Cat5.

Q: 3. Does this board work with Protools and does it control the Protools interface?

A: You may use the Soundcraft Si Impact to record audio into protools via the USB interface. You may not however control the protools software interface because this is not a midi controller.

Q: 4. Is the Dugan Automixer still included on 8channels?

A: Yes it does: How the AUTOMIXER works: The TF series AUTOMIXER uses the Dugan speech system, which automatically adjusts the gain of up to 8 mics. Unlike limiters or auto-level controllers, the Dugan speech system lets the engineer control individual levels as usual, even when more than one person is talking at the same time. Also, the audio on the mics is detected and the gain is automatically distributed when no one is talking, so the faders can be left up When one person talks, the gain on that mic instantly rises, and the gain on other mics is lowered. This works the same when another person speaks. When two people talk at the same time, the gain between the two mics is automatically distributed to provide a uniform total gain, and the gain on the remaining mic is lowered. NOTE: • The AUTOMIXER is placed directly after the channel ON for CH1–CH8. • When the Pre button for SEND TO AUX on CH1–CH8 is off, signal is sent from directly after the AUTOMIXER to the AUX bus. • When CH1–CH8 are stereo linked together, the AUTOMIXER parameters will not be linked.

Q: 5. any stage box

A: You can use the Mini Stagebox 32 (SOMSB32R) or Mini Stagebox 16 (SOMSB), with the required MADI option card for the Vi1000.

Q: 6. Can a Dante care be installed on this unit?

A: Yes here is a link to the product page for the compatible Yamaha NY64-D Dante I/O Expansion Card. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1222136-REG/yamaha_ny64_d_dante_i_o.html

Q: 7. is this capable of automixing like the Dugan cards and are dmx control options?

A: No, the Soundcraft Si Impact is not capable of automixing.

Q: 8. Can you install and use third party plugins with this desk?

A: Whatever is compatible with your DAW. More specifically plug-ins supported by ASIO, Core Audio, or WDM standards

Q: 9. Is there an input & output XLR AT the rear of VI5000 , that we can use it as stand alone without needing the local rack ?

A: Yes, the Soundcraft Vi5000 Mixing Console can be used as a standalone mixer without the local rack. It does have XLR inputs and XLR outputs on the back.

Q: 10. How can I split the inputs for video recording?

A: The cleanest way to split the inputs would be to purchase and utilizing a DANTE option card (SO5031819V ) for the SI 40. Then with a separate purchase of DANTE Virtual Soundcard loaded on a computer, you could record up to 64 tracks of audio into a DAW to sync to a video recording later. This would require connecting the DANTE card and computer via a DANTE approved switch (BH#CISG35010K9N), and using DANTE controller to route the audio from the board to the computer. Please not that the console itself would control the overall gain level of each channel.

[96] I love this mixer. In it's price point it is absolutely loaded. Tons of channels, clean preamps, nice effects. I wish it had a physical on/off switch. But other then that I have no complaints about it. I use it for my home practice setup. I have 2 guitar inputs, a mic, a stereo piano, and a laptop all connected to inputs and run it out to Headphones, studio monitors and use the Aux out so I can run my bass to an amp if I want or the headphones. Handles all that really well.

[Yes] I have tried comparable Yamaha and Mackie models. I ended up with this SoundCraft. The noise level is zero. There is no noise at all, as if you were in outer space. Very clear recording.

I noticed the Mackie has a clear zero noise recording, but only if you don’t use the FX function of the mixer. The SoundCraft does not have that issue. It is clear with and without FX. I really love it!!

The company has updated Firmware and updated drivers on their website, I think they are digitally signed drivers, not sure since I disabled the digital signature check in my PC. What I’m trying to point out is that the mixer is newer than most other comparable mixers and does not have any issues.

One thing I wanted to mention is the control panel window that comes with the driver, for some reason, it starts whenever I restart the PC and this caused issues while recording. Seems I lose a channel when this panel starts, so I disabled the panel from my startup and problem solved.

[16] I haven't gotten to pump a lot of volume through my amp yet, but I've played with this for several hours and I'm pretty happy with it. I need time with more volume to get my gains and levels just right and be able to make sure there's no distortion. I used the two XLR mic in and the RCA. It certainly would be nice to have a more precise way to match levels on multiple channels, but yeah this seems to be a pretty cool tiny little mixer. Does what it says. Oh and the karaoke effects work pretty well if that's your thing. Everything works.

[-95 dBu ] Build quality seems to be excellent. Sound quality is likewise. I like the 4x4 USB on the 12-ch model. Routing could be more flexible but you can only expect so much at the price point. Soundcraft's analog audio is as good as anyone's. Effects are okay, good enough for live sound and beefing up vocal foldback when multi-track recording. Very pleased.

[± 10 ns] Have a full-time musician, I was lucky around a big mixer for all my gigs and finally got around to buying this notepad for my solo gigs which I play a lot of. I love the character of the sound that comes out of this thing, and obviously the size is a huge benefit when it comes to schlepping gear. Highly recommended

[4x Stereo ] It was this or Yamaha's MG10XU mixer. Both were highly rated via online reviews but I liked the Soundcraft's more compact case as I gig a lot and it fits easier in my protective gig bag. I've used Soundcraft before and they've always equaled or exceeded my expectations. Yamaha's OK too but for the money I'd recommend this Notepad 12FX.

[200 W] Delivers everything you'd want from a mixer this size - USB I/O, 4 XLR inputs (a rarity on something this compact!), and plenty of 1/4 and RCA connectors. The sound coming out of all of that is also no slouch - certainly worthy of the Soundcraft name.

I can find no reason not to eagerly recommend this piece of hardware!

[4x Stereo ] My initial plan was to use this mixer for podcasting / internet radio and the one feature that made me purchase this, was the Ducker built into the Audio Control Panel Software. After everything is set, there is no need for me to physically touch the mixer during recording or playing out live.

Without the Ducker, I would have to get for the most part an analog mixer, with inserts and an additional compressor with a few extra cables just to get the Ducker feature, a cost I wasn't willing to spend at this time.

Later on, if I decide to finally get into doing some VoiceOver work, just need to get me a good condenser mic and I already have my mixer / interface ready and waiting.

For the compact size and the price range, the 4in 4 out USB recording capability, AND it can be used for live sound....I really don't think there is anything better in its price range.

An on/off switch would have been a nice touch but running it through a line conditioner or even a simple surge protection unit (with a switch) would fix this.

Overall, I'm definitely going to have a lot of fun with this mixer & a special thanks to B&H for the prompt shipping and updates along the way regarding this purchase.
