Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. It sounds like multiple people have had their camera dislodge from the side holster when stooping or kneeling. Has anyone come up with an effective work-around (e.g., a safety tethering strap)?

A: No, Cotton Carrier has not made a tether that works with the Cotton Carrier CCS G3 Harness-2 (Realtree Xtra Camo)

Q: 2. Can this be worn under a backpack?

A: Yes, it could be. Please note that it will likely be putting weight in just about the same area as the straps to your backpack will. So, you may alternatively wish to consider mounting your camera to the backpack strap, for example with a Capture Clip (B&H# PECPBK3): https://bhpho.to/37P3pvd

Q: 3. I also need to carry a backpack when I do outdoor trips. With this harness, it appears that I can't carry a backpack any more?

A: You can wear a backpack with the Cotton Carrier CCS G3 Harness-1 (Gray)—the straps and the harness are thin enough for that. Another option would be to get a harness that attaches to the backpack straps, for example, the Keyhole Hands-Free Camera Harness (B&H # KEBCKHBL).

Q: 4. Is it possible to purchase the universal binocular bracket to be used later on the Cotton Carrier CCS G3 with 2 cameras?

A: Yes the Cotton Carrier Everything Bracket that fits binoculars can be purchased here separately: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1527856-REG

Q: 5. How long is the tether? What is the weight limit? How is it attached to a horizontal belt?

A: The length of the tether is about 16 . The Strapshot has no listed weight limit because it is engineered to hold far more weight then you would ever carry. The Strapshot has a horizontal Velcro loop to attach it to your waist belt.

Q: 6. I am 6'8" and wondering about positioning and length of the vest and the comfort whether it should ride higher or lower?

A: The most comfortable way to use the Cotton Carrier CCS G3 Harness-1 (Gray) would depend on your specific body proportions and your personal taste.

Q: 7. I am going on a bike tour in Europe. Would this work while biking? It is a fairly easy pace. Using a Nikon Z-9 & 42-70 lens.

A: Cotton Carrier CCS G3 Harness-1 will work while biking and will be able to hold a Nikon Z9 with a Nikon 24-70 lens.

Q: 8. Is this harness just for DSLR's or can it be used with a mirrorless camera such as a Fujifilm X-T3?

A: Cotton Carrier CCS G3 Harness-1 (Gray) BH #CO686GREY can also be used with a mirrorless camera such as a Fujifilm X-T3.

Q: 9. I need back support. Does this harness provide that?

A: Technically no, but it would certainly be much better than using a heavy camera on a traditional strap around your neck or shoulder. This harness would take some strain off your back compared to most other camera carriers.

Q: 10. Can it support a Nikon180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR Lens on a Nikon Z 9 camera body?

A: Yes, the Cotton Carrier CCS G3 Harness-1 can absolutely support the Nikon180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR Lens on a Nikon Z 9 camera body.

[Gray] I have used the chest harness for a couple of years and really like it... The Strapshot gives me several options on carrying my camera... Very good quality design and construction...

[Gray] This is exactly what I needed! I'm a nature photog (mostly wildlife) and frequently hike into areas. I move this back and forth between my daypack and overnight pack and it works well carrying my Canon R5 with everything from the little 16mm up to the 100-500. I haven't tried it with the big 500mm prime, but I suspect it wouldn't work well - not because the Strapshot couldn't handle it, but more because the weight would drag at the one side of the pack pulling things off kilter. Along those lines, the pack you use needs to be able to support the weight of the kit you're carrying. When I used a lightweight backpack with nothing in it there wasn't enough heft to support the R5 and 100-500 and it was awkward. But when I use Lowpro Fastpack 250 with a couple lenses, snacks, water, etc it carries the R5 and 100-500 fine. The same when I'm out for a couple nights in the backcountry - the big backpack full of gear handles the weight of the camera and lens fine.

And it's SO much better than a strap - the set up is snug to the body and I have with it coming out. I've used it enough now that stowing and removing the camera is pretty easy and the safety strap is secure (I've given it a few sharp tugs to test) so I feel comfortable scrambling around.

I'm so happy with it that I've purchased a second to use with my tripod.

[0.66 lb] I bought this carrier to put my Nikon Z6II on my pack and it works great. It's secure, out of the way and easy to get on and off. It's really nice for hiking.

[0.66 lb] I use a flight vest style backpack harness with very wide straps, and this carrier fits perfectly due to the adjustable Velcro sizer. Way more versatile than the similar Peak Design product. I also appreciate the two built in safeties, one tethering the carrier to the backpack in addition to the Velcro, and the other tethering the camera to the carrier in addition to the hub.

[Gray] Absolutely loved using this for my 3 day hiking trip in Acadia Natl Park - felt secured and locked in without fear of dropping or coming loose very secure. No neck pain from strap hanging, smooth easy on and off, only issue was I wish I had another one for my film camera.

[0.66 lb] Just got back from a hiking vacation in Utah, and having this connected to my backpack strap was perfect for having my camera at my disposal whenever I needed it, and still have my hands free for hiking sticks or anything else.
