Q: 1. Can the Allen and Heath Qu32 mixer use a Cat5 cable to send/receive audio to and from a DAW? Thanks.

A: No. Only USB.

Q: 2. Hello! Does this mixer comes with any DAW? If so, what DAW? If there is no DAW in the package, is this compatible with any DAW? (preferably Studio One 3) What are some software comes with mixer? And also, is this a windows compatible for recording purposes? A: The Allen & Heath Qu-16C is a 16-channel digital mixer and USB audio interface designed for live and installed sound, as well as studio use. The built-in USB audio interface is compatible with Apple and Windows computers, and will allow you to record individual tracks in a multi-track DAW. The QU-16C does not ship with software, but can be used with most popular DAW software in the market. Currently, DAW templates are available on the Allen & Heath website for users of Cubase, Logic X, and Pro Tools. Digital mixers in general do not provide power for speakers. Therefore, the QU-16C needs to be integrated with a passive or active speaker solution for sound reinforcement.

A: Yes, the Allen & Heath SQ-6 48-Channel / 36-Bus Digital Mixer with 24+1 Motorized Faders features a 32x32 USB audio interface which will allow you to record 32 channels.

It will record via USB from your choice of the main left/right mix or individual channels. This mixer does not have a speaker, nor power for amplification. You need peripheral equipment.

[0.155 lb] General Thoughts:
- Definitely a strong off gassing smell (fishy) when you first open the product packaging
- Much thinner material then I expected, but very good quality
- Fits perfectly to the Qu-24
- Worth it!

[0.155 lb] Good quality, very thin and lightweight like parachute fabric or nylon. Inside of cover is silver seems like it would be good to prevent a liquid spill but not dropping an object on it. $80.00 seems a little strong however you have to have it to protect your investment! Plus it has the Logo on it..... Just wish it was little thicker material...... Tj Picozzi

[0.155 lb] Can't say enough for this mixer! It takes an investment to learn (I chose some online videos that I paid for that were specific to this mixer through ProAudioEXP). Once you learn the unit, the flexibility is incredible. I used the Cat5 connector with the Allen & Heath stage box (DX168) and highly recommend that set-up. For my initial outdoor live sound applications, I configured the top layer to have everything I needed and then set-up scenes in advance that followed the script of the event. The scene management was priceless for me to allow complete novices to run it while I was speaking and then there was a transition to music after speaking. I programmed some of the soft keys to advance to the next scene and to load the next scene, so these transitions were instant and those novice users didn't even have to understand what they were doing (although I don't recommend that approach for FOH engineers, it just met my needs that day since no one else was familiar with the mixer).

[0.155 lb] The SQ-5 is really well laid out. For a 48 input frame (16 local mic inputs, all the rest via digital stage boxes) that fits in a 19" rack space this board is packed. Its on screen features, functionality and software are very similar to the Midas M32. Unlike other rack mount mixers this one has a full 7 inch touch screen. The knobs are laid out symmetrically and the faders are very fast and responsive when switching between layers. The software's intuitive layout makes it easy to navigate complex mixes. I almost bought a Midas, but like the layout, additional channels and the built-in light bar on this unit better. The only issue I've noticed is the screen rotary knob (which adjust the values of the on-screen parameters) isn't as responsive is the rest of the rotaries. For example, if you scroll it too fast, the numbers will hiccup and skew. I've asked around in groups and have found this problem seems to be inherent in other A&H digital boards. It's likely a fix that can be accomplished via firmware upgrade. If you don't want to hard mount in a rack, but prefer a foam lined case like I do, B&H sells a ProX rack case for the M32R that will also fit this board...but you'll have to save the hard packing Styrofoam that comes with the SQ-5 to adapt to the case. I also notice B&H now sells a ProX rack to fit the SQ-5. The cost of this rack case is nearly double the M32R case, so if you have the skillsets to cut foam and fit, you can save some money. I've uploaded a picture guide for the foam conversion in my review of the ProX M32R case (XS-MIDM32R) on B&H. Overall, I am very happy with the SQ-5. Small, lightweight, full size screen, affordable. You won't be unhappy.

[0.155 lb] This dust cover has one job. And so far it has done it well.
Our church's main sanctuary can be quite dusty. This cover fit's our Qu-24 perfectly, and keeps the board clean and tidy. I would expect nothing less.

[0.155 lb] This console is by far the best sub $5k console out currently.

I own an M32, and take this SQ5 desk out 100% of the time unless a band specifically requested the M or X series.

Completely future proof with its DSP power, plugin options, full 96k, all in a 19” rack is very impressive.

It’s physical design borrows some things off Digico and it’s user interaction takes some notes from Avid’s S6L line (touch anything on the screen and it moves onto the rotary encoders).

Very fast and fluid console with a great option card selection already available, and a great plugin package for those in need. Porter over from the flagship Dlive consoles, Allen & Heath really has a winner with this desk.

[0.155 lb] We have been (and still do)use this unit for mixing our live corpoarte shows and it has been fantastic. We have used this unit for roughly two years now and it is our go to, reliable mixer. No complaints, no problems. It has survived unscathed from some of the crankiest A1s i know!

We also use the built-inrecorder with success (it likes some drives more than others). My only complaint. I bought the travel case for it which is nice but doesnt offer any protection. I wish there were more robust travel choices. But there hasnt been any hiccups so far, so no complaints here.
