The 4K Ultra HD 600 MHz Extender Set from Gefen is a compact high-performance solution for extending the transmission range of uncompressed, full-bandwidth HDMI 2.0 audio/video with HDR up to 660' over a single strand of SC-terminated 50/125 μm OM3 or better multi-mode fiber-optic cable. It supports 18.2 Gb/s of bandwidth and 600 MHz TMDS Clock frequency. Full bandwidth support allows the Gefen extender to accommodate resolutions up to 4K Cinema-DCI (4096 x 2160), and 4K Ultra HD (3860 x 2160) with HDR (High Dynamic Range). HDCP 2.2 and the legacy HDCP 1.4 are both supported.

The EXT-UHD600-1SC also supports 1080p Full HD, WUXGA (1920 x 1200), 3DTV, and Deep Color (up to 1080p resolution) video. Multi-channel digital audio, including 7.1 channels of LPCM and HBR (High Bit Rate) digital audio formats, in Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X, and DTS-HD Master Audio are passed through to the HDMI outputs. There is full electrical isolation between the transmitter and the receiver, meeting the stringent safety and EMC requirements for critical applications.

This extender can be powered from sources and displays featuring powered USB ports, or by using external power supplies. The transmitter and receiver are plug-and-play and work without any setup. A: You are correct. It will take 1 signal and send it to 4 destinations.

Q: 5. I have a receiver setup of 5.1.4 Atmos. What will happen to the audio signal when passing through this device on a movie that contains atmos. I noticed that the device only supports 7.1.?

A: This supports up to 7.1 channels, which would tend to mean it will support lower options as well. It should work fine with the Atmos you have.

Q: 6. Can an output be connected from one unit to an input on a second identical unit?

A: While we are not sure of the application this would used for, that should be possible.

Q: 7. What is the maximum cable length supported?

A: They do not list a spec for a maximum cable length. usually we recommend extenders (HDBase-T/Ethernet or SDI) if you plan to run cable further than 35ft however there are specially designed Fiber Optic HDMI cables that are rated to go much longer distances (100+ft). It is always best to test the cabling before doing a permanent install as there are many factors that may add interference or complications to your set up even if it is approved by Gefen.

Q: 8. Can this have it's EDID settings set to a frame rate of 23.98 at any of it's resolution settings?

A: We have not gotten any confirmation from Gefen regarding this. The device is made for EDID management. It can take most any popular resolution so we feel that the frame rate of 23.98 is accommodated as well. Here is the manual for more information.

Q: 9. Can it output to 2 displays of different resolution? i.e. 4K + 1080p (downscaled)

A: This is a splitter that will output the same signal that is inputted to it. If it is given a 4K signal, the 4 HDMI outputs will have the same 4K signal. It will from there be a matter of if the TV you are using can downscale a 4K image itself.

Q: 10. Can it extend the display from any input? For example, a PS5 split across 2 TV's.
