The Miller CX2 Fluid Head Solo 75 2-Stage Tripod Systemis designed to accommodate a wide payload range with 16 steps of counterbalance. Pan, tilt, and counterbalance can all be set to zero, enabling even the lightest of cameras to be supported. Maxed out, this head is rated to support camera setups up to 17.5 pounds, suitable for a DSLR or mirrorless camera rig, a smaller cinema camera, or a small ENG camcorder. Securing your camera or rig is easy. The sideload plate design enables you to simply drop in your camera without the alignment issues posed by rear-loading variations. The plate offers 2.4" of sliding range to balance your rig.

To survive fast-paced shooting environments, the CX2 is die-cast from a lightweight, yet durable metal alloy with composite polymers and precision ball-bearings for smooth mechanical operation. Even in harsh conditions, the CX2 will perform reliably. The base of the CX2 is a 75 ball for mounting to compatible tripods and grip equipment. An illuminated bubble level makes it easy to level the CX2 in dark environments. A pan handle with a 15.4" fixed length is included and a second rosette is incorporated for attaching an optional second pan handle.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I buy the tripod without the head? If so, please post link.

A: the tripod without the head is the Miller Solo DV Aluminum Tripod with 75mm bowl- Supports up to 44 lb (20 kg), the B&H part number is B&H # MI1630

Q: 2. I'm a tad confused about the 2-step weight specs. 2-steps, 10 and 22 lbs(4.5 - 10 kg) ....what does this mean? I shoot with a fairly light DSLR set-up and am slightly concerned about reviews regarding the fluid heads performance with minimal weight.

A: I have been shooting with the SOLO 20 for about a year now. Most of the time I shoot with the Canon 600 F4, 1.4 converter, and 1D MKIV without looking at the actual weights I would say its about 17 pounds. I think it would be more stable with a bigger tripod, but I'm not interested in packing around anything bigger. I also shoot the 1D MKIV with the sigma 150-600mm sport lens on this tripod and it as solid as a rock (11 pounds or so.) I would like to see one improvement to this tripod; I feel the first leg stop on this tripod is too tight, if the legs where out a little more on the first stop the tripod would be more stable with 20 LB load. The next setting on the tripod is too wide, maybe they could add one in the middle. I have been very happy with this tripod worth the money. I rented it from lens rental before I bought it.Harlan

Q: 3. Does the head accept a standard Manfrotto 501 sliding plate?

A: We're afraid not. This head uses the Miller 1204 style plate. https://bhpho.to/2Use2dY

Q: 4. Will this support an FS7 package with Atomos Shogun and 70-200 lens in low mode (widest leg angle)? I ask, because I effortlessly snapped the leg of my Benro doing that.

A: The Miller Solo-Q 75 2-Stage Carbon Fiber Tripod is very strong and will hold payload weights up to 44lbs which would be far lower than the FS7 kit you work with. It would be a perfect strong tripod option for your payload.

Q: 5. Can you tell me the weight please?

A: 2.5kg (5.5lbs)

Q: 6. Does the tripod work with Canon 5D Mark III?

A: yes

Q: 7. Where can I find replacement rubber feet for this tripod?

A: Unfortunately, we do not currently carry rubber feet for this particular model. We would recommend posing your inquiry directly to the manufacturer: https://bit.ly/35gWVo8

Q: 8. Is this suitable for canon c100 mark ii with shotgun mic, cinevate duzi v4, and canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens, and yes for long term ?

A: This Tripod has a load capacity between 4.4 to 11 Pounds. The combination of items you listed will be pushing that load capacity. I recommend the Miller SOLO DV 20 instead, B&H # MIDS20SDV2, which has a load capacity up to 22 pounds. It will better be able to handle the items you listed and it is a great long term investment.https://bhpho.to/2AnvSJo

Q: 9. Please let me know which Miller tripod case comes with this tripod Miller Air Carbon Fiber Tripod System B&H # MI3005 MFR # 3005I don't see a link. Also, on Miller Sticks I have a Sachtler DV6 head. I measured about 33 from the head to the feet. I'm guessing a 35 tripod case would be fine. That's why I would like ton know which Miller tripod case this is? I have the same Miller Sticks as I mentioned above. Thank you Jimmy

A: For future reference, please look under the Accessories tab for Bags & Cases. Of the seven we offer, I would suggest these based on economy to best choice to luxury. For budget: Ruggard Deluxe Padded 35 Tripod Case (Black) B&H # RUBD3035. For rugged airplane travel: SKB Roto-Molded Tripod Case with Wheels (37 Tall) B&H # SK1SKBR3709W For luxury: Porta Brace TLQB-39XT Quick Tripod/Light Case (Black) B&H # POTLQB39XT.

Q: 10. Is it me going blind, or does it not indicate the maximum height of this tripod?

A: This tripod will reach a range of 15 to 80".

[+90° to -75°] I own in the past many tripods including Sachtler. I love this tripod... the movement on the head is fantastic.

[Yes] great tripod and head for light to hefty dslr frankenrigs and very smooth and adjustable pan and tilt drag. pretty good counterbalance.
specially if you get the long slide plate and use a long dove plate on it when using long and heavy lenses with matte boxes, etc.
wish there was hook under the head to stabilize with weight!!

[Fluid Head] There are many reviews on this tripod, but bottom line: it is excellent! It's reasonably priced and can accommodate a pretty heavy rig. I'm impressed. I love the next to nothing weight as well!

[+90° to -75°] This I'm thing is truly a beast of a fluid head for the price. As a wildlife filmmaker I am generally using huge O'Connor heads with massive lenses. This little rig gives those beasts a run for their money. In a pinch I have used this as a replacement head with a Gemini and a 150-600 lens and it was stable and smooth as could be. It also works great for my timelapse and slider setups. The three stops of resistance was scary at first but I honestly rarely use anything other than the second level of resistance. Absolutely recommend!

[75 mm Half Ball] Great tripod. Light. Secure lock. Could not ask for better. Like it better than Sachlers since I hate the spreader. Used big Manfrotto's in the past. No comparison. Own a Gitzo as well, which is close to Miller but still like Miller. Will buy Miller again if I need another one.

[Fluid Head] Use mostly when doing 5D video. Great movement on the head, only thing is a little more weight would make it a little better, probably would be best in the 8-16lb range.
