Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will sleeved negatives fit back into the 4x5 film box?

A: When using the Print File 4 x 5 Polypropylene FoldFlap Sleeves, you can put the sleeved film back into a 4 x 5" film box (such as a Kodak Tri-X 4 x 5" box). Please note that it will curl up slightly on the side, but it will not damage the film.

Q: 2. What is the difference between this kit and the Cine DP Jem kit?

A: The Jem kit comes with an additional floppy fabric and a Jaw Vise Grip. The frames are the same size when constructed but the Jem kit uses the shorter 22 frame components and connectors to allow them to break down and fit in the smaller 28 case (compared with the 50 case with the 4 x 4' Cine Kit). The smaller frame components can also be used with the Westcott Cine 2 x 2' fabrics.

Q: 3. Can these be used when making contact prints of 4x5 negatives? Will the flap show up in the print?

A: Yes, the Print File 4 x 5 Polypropylene FoldFlap Sleeves (50-Pack) can be used when making contact prints with 4x5 negatives, but it may reduce the quality of the print.

Q: 4. Can this frame be broken down to 4x4 and 6x4 configuration using whats in this kit?

A: Ronan,Yes, the frames in this kit can be constructed to a 4 x 4 or 6 x 4 configuration. Make sure to purchase only Scrim Jim CINE fabrics as the original line of Scrim Jim fabrics (non cine versions) are not compatible with the Cine frames.

Q: 5. Do you have these corners in Red?

A: I'm sorry, no.

Q: 6. I want to hold two pieces of glass together to make a frame - will these work? I have some delicate Chinese paper art I want to display. Thanks.

A: I would not suggest using the Lineco Polypropylene Mounting/Framing Corners (Standard View, 0.625", 500 Pack) to hold 2 pieces of glass together. That is a bit heavier than what these can handle.

Q: 7. Can I put other 6x6 scrim fabrics on this? Like the Matthews Silk one?

A: This Cine frame is a true 6' x 6' as are the Westcott Fabrics made for this version of the Cine Frame. Other manufacturers products like the Matthews silk may or may not fit based on their actual size and the mounting method.

Q: 8. I got two today. One of them is completely flat, but the other one is a little like a potato chip. Is this a manufacturer defect and must be replaced, or can I fix it myself ?

A: A reflector that does not lay entirely flat would not technically be considered a defect, as the reflector would still be able to be held or used on a stand to reflect light into your subject. However, if you feel the reflector is not fit for your needs, or you want both items to be identical, if the order has been placed within the last 30 days, you could then contact Customer Service to request a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) Number to return the item for an exchange or refund.

Q: 9. Are these .625 photo corners hard plastic or soft and flexible?

A: Soft and flexible. However, it's rather putsy and time consuming to separate the plastic flaps to slide the paper corner into. Not sure I would buy these again. There are others out there with a runway to more easily slip the corners into.

Q: 10. is 11.7 lb (5.3 kg) the total weight or it is just the Wheeled Case? how much is the total kit weight?

A: 11.7 lb is for just the Case. The Kit weight listed on the Westcott site is 26.0 lbs./ 11.8 kg.

[Polypropylene] Great for film storage especially if you have three-ring binders with storage pockets.

[2.37 lb] I got these because I have fifty year old negatives in that I kept in non-archival envelopes and the negatives got damaged, some very badly. These polypropoylene fold sleeves are supposed to be archival and I can only hope that they actually are and won't damage my negatives over time. They are easy to use and my negatives easily go in and out of the sleeves. The negative issue is to write on the sleeve with a sharpie. I must write on the upper part of the sleeve on the flap. If I write on the main part of the sleeve, I cannot see what I have written as it is blackened by the negative itself. Otherwise, I am happy with it and would buy more when these run out.

[2.37 lb] These K120-sized sleeves are just what I was looking for to organize and store masses of loose negatives and transparencies. These are 2.4-mil thick as opposed to the 3-mil I've bought in the past elsewhere, but these still do the job, are available, and are substantially less expensive per 50-pack.

[2.37 lb] I'd looked for these sleeves for K120 format film at many different sites. Was glad to see B&H had polypro versions that were in stock, at a lower price than any of the other retailers, and which shipped quickly. The sleeves themselves are good quality: not too flimsy and they fold-lock easily. Each sleeve holds four 2.25x2.25 inch exposures (more if the images are 6x4; fewer if the images are 6x9).
