The Miller CX6 Fluid Head Solo 75 2-Stage Alloy Tripodis designed to accommodate a wide payload range with 16 steps of counterbalance. Pan, tilt, and counterbalance can all be set to zero, enabling even the lightest of cameras to be supported. Maxed out, this head is rated to support camera setups up to 26.4 pounds, suitable for small cinema cameras with rigs or medium sized ENG camcorders. Securing your camera or rig is easy. The sideload plate design enables you to simply drop in your camera without the alignment issues posed by rear-loading variations. The plate offers 2.4" of sliding range to balance your rig.

To survive fast-paced shooting environments, the CX6 is die-cast from a lightweight, yet durable metal alloy with composite polymers and precision ball-bearings for smooth mechanical operation. Even in harsh conditions, the CX6 will perform reliably. The base of the CX6 is a 75 ball for mounting to compatible tripods and grip equipment. An illuminated bubble level makes it easy to level the CX6 in dark environments. A pan handle with a 15.4" fixed length is included and a second rosette is incorporated for attaching an optional second pan handle.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the 3rd step of drag on the CX6 similar to the 5th step on the CX8 or is it less? Is the difference just fewer steps in-between or is it less drag overall?

A: Comparisons between the drag settings is not something listed by Miller on any head. The key in this case is that the CX8 offers more adjust-ability with 5 steps over 3 steps on the CX6. However we are not aware of a direct comparison between the steps.

Q: 2. Will this 100mm head fit on a Vinten tripod with 100mm bowl?

A: The Miller CX10 Fluid Head (B&H# MI1096) will fit in tripods, hi-hats, and bowl adapters conforming to the 100mm bowl standard. Please note that the particulars of inter-brand fit can vary, however, so we cannot promise that every user will be satisfied with every combination. However, we do offer 30 days to return this item (with all packaging items and packing materials, and in the same shape it was received) if it does not meet your needs.

Q: 3. does the side mount system in these heads work directly with arri style long dove plates? or will I have to screw it onto the head's proprietary plate?

A: Miller has their own proprietary quick release plate system. You will need to add a dovetail if you intend to use this tripod with Arri standard dovetail mounts.

Q: 4. Are the levels of drag adequate, or do you find yourself constantly wishing for more drag?

A: Those of us at B&H who have used it, like the overall feel of this head and its operation with a variety of cameras. We have had no complaints regarding any lack of drag.

Q: 5. Does a standard manfrotto plate fit in this head?

A: We're afraid not. This tripod has its own quick release plate system, it is not compatible with Manfrotto plates.

Q: 6. Does the head come with the quick release plate?

A: The quick release plate would be included.

Q: 7. Greetings. What is the difference between the new CX6 fluid head and the old CX6 fluid head?

A: Unfortunately, the new version has yet to be available to us and no explicit specifications have been provided at this time by the manufacturer, thus we recommend posing your inquiry directly to Miller for an expedited and accurate response: https://bit.ly/35gWVo8

Q: 8. Is that a flat base mounting option for sliders?

A: Base Mount 75 mm Half Ball

Q: 9. I have some old Bogen/Manffroto telescopic pan arms with rosette clamps. will these fit on the CX series head rosettes? they look similar but my CX6 tripod system hasn't arrived yet so I can't try it...

A: We cant know for certain without knowing the exact model tripod arm however it is usually safe to assume that it will not work. There is no universal standard rosette size/pattern for tripod arms and even Manfrotto/Bogen have a few variations of their rosette arm.

Q: 10. Does anyone have any experience using this head with lighter cameras like a GH5 or Blackmagic Pocket Cam? How does the counterblance work at the lower end of it's settings?

A: With 16 selectable counter balance positions ( including 0 ) as well as 4 drag settings ( including 0 ) , running light weight cameras such as the GH5 or Pocket Cinema Camera do well.

[75 mm Half Ball] I purchased the Miller CX10 Fluid Head specifically for use with a Sony A7iii and Sony 200-600 G zoom lens in a rig weighing about 13 pounds. I use this setup as a moving camera for closeups in concerts. It's important to have smooth action with (near) perfect balance. The CX10 meets all of my need and expectations. It is also compact, rugged, and very easy to adjust. It is a true fluid head, so adjusting the drag is easy, since you aren't working against spring tension found in friction heads. The counterbalance is also easy to adjust, without undue resistance. I can point it to any position and let go of the handle without sag and very little springback. Hold for just a second or two, and the springback disappears.

[8.7 lb] I bought this a few years back to use with my Panasonic HVX200a. Works like a dream. I do a lot of short form documentary production, and this Miller is perfect. The carbon fiber construction indeed makes the unit very light. I carried it while backpacking around Western Europe for a month, and it was fantastic. Very quick to setup and breakdown. I also like how low to the ground I can get with the concentric leg angle locks. The bag is very high quality as well. All around it is a very rugid product, which is perfect for my documentary productions. Those Australians can sure make a tripod. At this price point, this Miller is your best choice.

[8.7 lb] great tripod and head for light to hefty dslr frankenrigs and very smooth and adjustable pan and tilt drag. pretty good counterbalance.
specially if you get the long slide plate and use a long dove plate on it when using long and heavy lenses with matte boxes, etc.
wish there was hook under the head to stabilize with weight!!

[+90° to -75°] I ordered this head to use on my Gitzo series 5 tripod along with the gitzo 100mm half bowl. Quality is fantastic, motion is smooth and fluid and is extremely durable. Only issue, the stud that mounts to the ball clamp is too short and needed to be longer to use on the Gitzo tripod. Called Miller US and had them send me a longer one, without issue.

[8.7 lb] Have been a long time Bogen user looking for a good lightweight versatile tripod system. After seeing the DV20 in action at a videographers convention i was sold. Its rock solid even though I was used to a mid-level spreader. My first assignment was shooting a modeling segment and I loved the fact that I could get so low to the ground with this tripod.

[8.7 lb] There are many reviews on this tripod, but bottom line: it is excellent! It's reasonably priced and can accommodate a pretty heavy rig. I'm impressed. I love the next to nothing weight as well!
