The Miller CX6 Fluid Head for Cinematic Camera Stabilityis designed to accommodate a wide payload range with 16 steps of counterbalance. Pan, tilt, and counterbalance can all be set to zero, enabling even the lightest of cameras to be supported. Maxed out, this head is rated to support camera setups up to 26.4 pounds, suitable for small cinema cameras with rigs or medium sized ENG camcorders. Securing your camera or rig is easy. The sideload plate design enables you to simply drop in your camera without the alignment issues posed by rear-loading variations. The plate offers 2.4" of sliding range to balance your rig.

To survive fast-paced shooting environments, the CX6 is die-cast from a lightweight, yet durable metal alloy with composite polymers and precision ball-bearings for smooth mechanical operation. Even in harsh conditions, the CX6 will perform reliably. The base of the CX6 is a 75 ball for mounting to compatible tripods and grip equipment. An illuminated bubble level makes it easy to level the CX6 in dark environments. A pan handle with a 15.4" fixed length is included and a second rosette is incorporated for attaching an optional second pan handle.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this 100mm head fit on a Vinten tripod with 100mm bowl?

A: The Miller CX10 Fluid Head (B&H# MI1096) will fit in tripods, hi-hats, and bowl adapters conforming to the 100mm bowl standard. Please note that the particulars of inter-brand fit can vary, however, so we cannot promise that every user will be satisfied with every combination. However, we do offer 30 days to return this item (with all packaging items and packing materials, and in the same shape it was received) if it does not meet your needs.

Q: 2. What is the temperature rating of this head?

A: This head has a Temperature Range between -40° to +149°F.

Q: 3. I will be upgrading from a Benro H8. I know this head is WAY better. My main complaint with the Benro is, the maximum drag is really weak. I want heavy drag that you really have to push on so slow movements are highly controlled. Is the heaviest drag on this head really stiff?

A: Yes not only is the Miller more stiff at its maximum setting it also offers more steps in between the lightest and toughest setting.

Q: 4. Does it accept a Manfrotto 501 sliding plate?

A: We're afraid not. This head uses the Miller 1204 style plate. https://bhpho.to/2Use2dY

Q: 5. Will the Miler CX6 fit on Sachtler Flowtech MS 75?

A: Yes, Miller CX series 75mm tripod heads, such as the Miller CX6 Fluid Head are compatible with Sachtler Flowtech MS 75 legs.

Q: 6. how wide is the plate?

A: the dimensions for the miller 1025 quick release plte Miller 1205 Specs Material Aluminum, Rubber, Stainless Steel Camera Mounting Screws 1 x 1/4"-20 1 x 3/8"-16 Travel 2.4" / 61 mm Dimensions 4.7 x 1.9 x 0.3" / 120 x 48.5 x 8 mm Weight 2.9 oz / 81.6 g

Q: 7. Would this work on a Gitzo 75mm bowl on Gitzo series 5 tripod?

A: Yes, it will work.

Q: 8. Is the 3rd step of drag on the CX6 similar to the 5th step on the CX8 or is it less? Is the difference just fewer steps in-between or is it less drag overall?

A: Comparisons between the drag settings is not something listed by Miller on any head. The key in this case is that the CX8 offers more adjust-ability with 5 steps over 3 steps on the CX6. However we are not aware of a direct comparison between the steps.

Q: 9. Do sachtler/manfrotto QR plates work with this head?

A: We're afraid not. This is compatible with Miller plates like BH #MI24CP. https://bhpho.to/2LTojyE

Q: 10. Is this a 26 or 30-lb load capacity? because the description says 30 lb, but the specs say 26. Thanks!

A: The load capacity is 0-30.9 lbs / 0-14.0 kg.

[Yes] Working in broadcast TV starting in late 70's and through to 2015 and the only components that lasted the test of 7 day a week use in all weather conditions were the Miller heads and this unit is no exception. I purchased on a flash sale and have employed in many different configurations with mirrorless and camcorder rigs. I enjoy the simplicity of the settings as usually, with previous heads, I would set up and never adjust say for the camera positioning. And the reality is, these units hold their value as the cost of manufacturing always rises. Most shooting is reliant on the sticks. If your head is poor, you work harder. This as with all Miller heads will long outlive most careers and provide years of worry free, solid performance.

[8.7 lb] Have been using it since October of 2021, and I am very happy with it. The adjustments took a little getting used to, there is a learning curve. Needed to practice to get the hang of it (by that I mean ability to adjust during a shoot without thinking).

The CS6 is more than adequate for my light set up (Red Komodo or R5 with a Canon 100-400 or 100-500 lens). Buttery smooth pans and tilts. Feels good in my hands, a pleasure to use. Should be good for much heavier setups but be careful to make sure you have the right model for your needs.

[75 mm Half Ball] camera plate works just like the original plate.

[75 mm Half Ball] This is the best fluid head I've used for my GH5S. Counterbalance set to 1 is just right for a minimal body/lens/mic setup and setting 2 is perfect for a more elaborate setup. Been a longtime fan of Miller quality and to my knowledge they are one of the few that hasn't been sold to a large corporation that are known to cut corners to reduce costs, you simply can't find this quality elsewhere at this price point. The only thing missing is drag controls but the drag is set to a level I'm comfortable with, and having an illuminated bubble level would have been nice. I'll take the tradeoff of overall build quality over having a bunch of bells and whistles any day. Even though this was a special order item it shipped very quickly from the Miller branch in New Jersey. They are also very easy to get on the phone with if service or parts are ever needed.
