A: The only useful way to utilize this filter would be if you were shooting in a monochrome mode on a digital camera, or if you had a digital camera that has had an infrared conversion done to it.

A: This is a Neutral Density filter which is designed to limit the amount of light reaching your cameras sensor. It works very similarly to a pair of sunglasses. This particular ND filter is 5 stops (1.5) meaning only 1/32 of all light passes through it. This filter is commonly used in sunlight without any issues regarding the surface of the filter heating.

A: Tiffen ND filters are 4mm thick, while Lee filters are 2mm thick. This will work in the Lee holder as long as you have the one which you can modify to accept 4mm filters.
