Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this truly a "stabilized" gimbal? The description and video are not very definitive in this respect.

A: Yes, the Draco Broadcast AFi V5 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal will actively stabilize smartphones ranging from 3.5 to 5.5".

Q: 2. I will be using this gimbal with a Sigma 150-600 tele lens. Do I need to get an extra long plate?

A: Yes, I did 4 from B&H, works great!

Q: 3. will this work with a Canon 7D MK II WITH a battery grip installed?

A: A Canon 7D Mark II with a battery grip installed can be used with this gimbal head. However, the head is really meant to hold a long telephoto lens with a tripod ring attached to that type of camera.

Q: 4. Does this Gimbal head NOT come with a plate?

A: The Jobu gimbal does not come with a plate. You need to purchase the correct plate length for the lens you will mount on the gimbal.

Q: 5. I have the 1st generation Tamron 150-600 and am having difficulty identifying what accessory foot, or plate (are they the same thing? this is new territory for me), is ideal to make it compatible with the Jobu Jr. 3 - the B&H guy was not reassuringly confident in his answers. Thanks for your help!

A: Hi V.C.: The foot is the base of the lens collar that typically comes attached to a lens of that size. I have a Sigma 150-600 and am not familiar with the Tamron, but expect that they are very similar lenses. The foot should have a standard threaded hole. You need to buy the mounting plate that attaches to the foot of the collar through the standard hole. Any arca-Swiss type mounting plate will do. I recommend a plate 2 inches longer than the foot (measured front to back of the lens). That will give you some room to slide the lens back and forth for better balance on the gimbel head. I purchased the Jobu 7 inch. A little pricey for what it is, but it works great.

Q: 6. It says that you need an Arca-Swiss plate to use with it. I will be using an Oben ac-1410 tripod. Can you refer me to what plate would be best to order?

A: Depending on the telephoto lens that you are using, different lengths of Arca-Swiss plates will be appropriate to attach. The following chart will show you which Wimberly (another maker of gimbal heads that use Arca-Swiss releases) plate will support your lens best. Just type in the model number of the specific plate into our search bar. (example: P10 plate)http://bhpho.to/1aJndNaorClick the link in the description of this product:B&H # WITHQRQ ? Mfr # WH-200

Q: 7. I did not notice in the description, but is this water resistant/proof?

A: no this Gimbal will not me water resistant/proof

Q: 8. Does this have cables for the Sony A7 III?

A: The manufacture says it should work but you need the correct shutter cable. It does not come with the one for the Sony A7 III. The cable you need is, Vello 3.5mm Remote Shutter Release Cable for Select Sony Cameras with Multi-Terminal, MFR #RCC-S2-3.5 • BH #VERCCS235

Q: 9. Can it balance third party lenses?

A: Not that we are aware of. This gimbal is only designed to work with the Smart Phone, it may not be able to balance an additional lens on the Smart Phone.

Q: 10. Your “in the box” does not mention the remote controller but you show it in one of the photographs. Is it included?

A: When purchasing the Draco Broadcast AFI MA2 Electronic Head, The device in the picture is actually a "wireless receiver", and is included in the original box.

[2.5 to 3 Hours] I recently bought a 400mm f/4 super telephoto lens. I got good results using it on my old ball head. But with the Jobu Jr.3 gimbal head my images took a step change for the better. The Jobu feels solid and its movements are smooth. The tilt and pan knobs lock the lens in place when tightened. I have not detected any creep. This is my first gimbal head and it is everything I hoped for.

[Single Handgrip] I use this gimbal head in Powershot SX50 HS with the teleconvertor TCON-17X. The movement is very smooth. And this gimbal head is very light.

[1.74 lb] I use this gimbal when shooting wildlife and birds in flight. I have a D90 with a Nikon 70-200 2.8 mounted on it and it operates flawlessly. The rubber coated knows are easy to grip with gloves and it provides very smooth panning and tilting. Durable construction. I have also used a Wimberly gimbal and see no reason to spend the extra money.

[6.5 to 8.4 VDC] Love this tripod head! I use this for my Nikon D810 with the Nikon 200-400mm VR F4 lens (and sometimes the Nikon AF-S Teleconverter TC-20E III). With some small adjustments I was able to balance the camera with lens so it can float while not locked down. This is perfect if you're trying to capture some raptors in flight or swooping down to grab a fish. Same time the tripod head can lock in place with no unwanted tilting, which is great when the large birds of pray are perched on a tree limb.

[2.5 to 3 Hours] This is the perfect size for my Oly E-M1 and 300 F4 Pro! Just what I was hoping for as the Oly kit looked a little puny on my full size gimbel head and heavy duty tripod for my Canon 500 F4. The Jobu has smooth action just like my full size, looking forward to using it this winter for birding.

[Aluminum] Was not enthused with side mount gimbals and found the Jobu Jr. 3. Fit my needs completely, Fully adjustable, side mount possible if needed, very smooth operation, all at a reasonable price. Used mostly with a D750 (or D7100) and a 200-500 Nikon lens. Only drawback (not a major one) was it did not come with a mounting plate.

[No ] I shoot a lot of images of moving wildlife and when balanced I can pan and tilt it exactly when and where I want it. Also works good with sporting events. When I use it with a Canon 100-400mm lens, changing the zoom perspective of an image also changes the focal length which in turn changes the balance a bit but most of the time it is not a problem. It is great for midsize telephoto lens.
