[All metal] This is great synth for beginners to advanced musicians. The sound editing although it seems confusing is really easy once you understand what the abbreviations on the screen are referring to. The booklet that comes with it is very helpful and will have you creating your own patches in no time. I enjoy this so much I'm already looking at adding another Synth to my lineup.

[21.43 lb] I've had this synthesizer for a little less than a year now, but have owned the original Microkorg since 2010 or so. Man! This thing is pumped with all the improvements you wish you had in the original Minikorg! The Speaker ultimately made this synth a must have for me, and it's really solidified my opinion on how great it is! I no longer have to unpack my amp, or configure a chain of signal routing just to get a sound from my Microkorg. This thing allows me to turn it on, and jam out in the open air. No headphones, or amps required. The New sound bank is cool, but not really anything to ditch your old Korg for. What's impactful is the D-bank of empty patches, that you can sculpt and save for. Now I'm no longer deleting factory presets when I create a cool sound. The vocoder is nice, and upgraded with 8 new Vocoder patches. The one we all want (A Dry Input) has now been installed, as well as a few robot voices, and sound that aren't so cheap. The color is kinda bland, but a few sticks never hurt anybody. The LED colors have been modified as well, in a better way. If you've never owned a Microkorg and have always thought about buying one, I HIGHLY recommend you get this! It's a GREAT started toy into synthesis, and when you really get into the bare bones of sculpting waveforms in the menus, you'll find you can do so much with this synth.

[Type-B] Always been a big fan of those massive 80s string sounds that couldn't be any further from the real deal. This little box definitely delivers the goods. Also, since it's a module, stacking synth sounds has never been easier. Load up a huge bass sound, add the Waldorf, and your half way there to recreating those terribly awesome sounds found on almost every 80s movie ever made. Love it. Great Jon Waldorf team. Also, killer reverb and chorus on this unit.

[21.43 lb] The Waldorf Blofeld is a fierce virtual analog/wavetable synth with a powerful multi mode for serious studio use and live performance. I bought this synth over 10 years ago for a tour I was asked to play on. What I love so much about the Blofeld for what I use it for is its multi mode which allows key ranges or even just one note to specify a particular patch while leaving certain notes blank. For instance I have one shot synth sounds with mod wheel control that I trigger by slamming my hand on a D or G#. All the keys trigger but because the range is set to one note, only the single key voice sounds and of course you can pitch the keys up and down so that you don't just play D or G#. Also the synth UI is very intuitive and programming sounds is a breeze. The sound engine gets VERY deep but, if you spend time with it, you get accustomed quickly. For that first tour I did, I programmed my sounds quickly recreating the sounds off the record even though I didn't yet KNOW the sound of the Blofeld. It reacts as it should with so many options given wavetables and the mod matrix. The built in effects are excellent as well. I have read about people slamming the reverb but I totally love it. The sample option is very cool as well for loading user sample content in the oscillators and I fully intend to tour again with this primarily as a sample playback machine with added synth shaping control. Waldorf has a reputation and, with the Blofeld, they once again deliver.
