  • The EW 512P G4 features rugged, all-metal chassis well suited for extended use on location.
  • The lightweight, compact bodypack transmitter is moisture-resistant, easy to conceal, and offers rounded edges that are soft to the touch and comfortable for the talent to wear. A locking connector ensures that your lav doesn’t detach at a critical moment, while a convenient switch allows you to mute your mic.
  • Using the included shoemount adapter, the equally compact receiver easily mounts on your camera without adding much weight. The included CL 500 cable provides a balanced connection from the receiver to the XLR audio input of your camcorder, cinema camera, or recording device. The CL 1 cable is for DSLR/mirrorless cameras and devices with 3.5mm inputs. A headphone output lets you monitor the quality of your sound while recording.
  • Both transmitter and receiver feature daylight-readable LED displays showing reception quality, battery status, and audio level.

  • The frequency scan function automatically searches for the cleanest frequency at your location.
  • To get you going quickly, the transmitter and receiver synchronize via infrared interface with the simple push of a button.
  • 10/30/50 mW switchable RF output helps overcome interference or save battery life.
  • The adjustable input sensitivity on the transmitter accommodates mic levels ranging from booming voices to quiet speech, and even line-level audio.
  • The receiver has an adjustable output range of 42 dB to match the audio input of your camera or recording device.

  • Popular with industry professionals, the MKE 2 omnidirectional lavalier microphone delivers a natural, broadcast-quality sound optimized for speech intelligibility. Its omnidirectional polar pattern ensures that the sound remains consistent, even when the speaker’s head moves away from the mic.
  • To take full advantage of the MKE 2’s dynamic range, the system employs proprietary HDX compander technology, preserving your sound without adding unwanted noise during transmission—delivering audio with remarkable accuracy and quality.

  • Adaptive-diversity reception for reliable transmission up to 330'
  • 20 frequency banks, each with up to 32 factory-preset channels to prevent intermodulation
  • Pilot tone squelch for eliminating RF noise when transmitter is turned off
  • User-friendly menu operation with flexible control options
  • Transmitter and receiver feature 4-step battery-life indicator
  • Auto-Lock function avoids accidental changing of settings
  • RF Mute function
  • 8 hours of battery life
  • Powered via AA batteries or rechargeable BA 2015 Accupack batteries (available separately)
  • Side contacts for recharging the Accupacks without removing them from either transmitter or receiver—requires the L 2015 quick-charging unit (available separately)

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you add additional wireless transmitter mics to the camera mounted receiver ? If so what models are compatible ?

A: Each wireless transmitter needs it's own corresponding receiver, so in order to add an additional mic using the Sennhieser G4 series, you would need an entire additional system.

Q: 2. How to attach the mirror less camera or gimbal? Photos only show a belt clip on back side.

A: The Sennheiser EW 512P G4 Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System includes the Sennheiser CA2 Shoemount Adapter for EW Series Camera Mountable Receivers, which allows mounting onto a shoe slot.

Q: 3. What's the latency?

A: The manufacturer has not provided any specifications for latency for the Sennheiser EW 512P G4 Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System.

Q: 4. Will the mic that comes with this (Sennheiser EW 512P) work with the AVX transmitter?

A: Yes. The MKE2 mic is an excellent mic and will work with both the EW512 P and AVX.

Q: 5. What is the correct frequency version for Chicago IL?

A: Both frequency ranges offered for the Sennheiser EW 512P G4 Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System appear to have available channels for the Chicago, Illinois area, however there may be slightly more available on the GW1: 558-608MHz range.

Q: 6. Headphone jack?

A: This is the 512P G4, yes, has a headphone jack to monitor at the receiver.

Q: 7. Can I split the AF OUT of the EK500 with a 'Y' cable, run one side to my FX6's XLR, the other, to an onboard mini recorder? Thx.

A: Yes, you can use a Y-cable to split the output from a Sennheiser EK 500 Receiver to send the audio to two different devices, like two separate audio recorders, cameras, mixers, etc. You can use a cable like the Saramonic SR-UM10-CC1 3.5mm TRS to Two XLR Male Output Y-Cable for Wireless Mic Systems (B&H # SASRUM10CC1), or use an adapter like the ALZO 3.5mm Female to Dual XLR Male Stereo Microphone Adapter Cord for Pro Camcorders (B&H # AL130) together with the 3.5mm receiver output cable and, if needed, additional XLR cables to extend the length.

Q: 8. What are the reasons for choosing one of the frequency ranges (470-558 or 558-608) over the other?

A: It also depends where you will be using the device. You can use sites like https://en-us.sennheiser.com/sifa to find which frequency bands in your target area are free or busy. This will narrow it down. If you travel abroad, certain frequencies may be banned or license only. Worth doing a little research into what you need where you are going.

Q: 9. Does this come with an XLR cable?

A: They Sennheiser ew 512P G4 system comes with the CL500 receiver 3,5mm male to XLR male receiver output cable (B&H # SECL500), which connects the wireless system to a professional camera, recorder, mixer, etc. An additional CL1 3.5mm male to 3.5mm male receiver output cable (B&H # SECL1) is also included for connection to DSLR cameras and other devices with a 3.5mm input jack.

Q: 10. If I purchase a Sennheiser SKP 500 G4 Pro separately in the future, can it used with this EW 512 G4 model?

A: Yes, the Sennheiser SKP 500 G4 Pro plug-on transmitter is compatible for use with the EK 500 G4 Pro receiver that is included with the EW 512P G4 wireless lavalier system as long as both components operate on the same frequency band. You will need to purchase an SKP 500 G4 transmitter on the same frequency band as the EW 512P G4 system. The EK 500 G4 receiver can be used with only one transmitter at a time so you will have the option of using it with either the SK 500 G4 bodypack transmitter that is included in the EW 512P G4 system or using the SKP 500 G4 plug-on transmitter.

[Mono] Love the new G4s. My only comment is that when syncing you have to hold them together a bit longer and be more still than with the g3. The MKE-2 mic rules and is a big upgrade from the ME-2

[Mute Switch] I usually prefer to use a boom mic, but this mic came in handy when I needed to film testimonial interviews in a very loud industrial plant. Of course you heard the background noise in the footage, but that was intended and the subjects voice came through very clear despite the noisy environment.

[20 Hz to 20 kHz] Suddenly the price was reduced as Sennheiser was figuring out what they were doing with this line. I call B&H to verify the low price. I couldn't pass it up. The price did go up a week later to original on all audio sites. Pays to keep looking . I saved several hundred dollars. It's too bad Sennheiser is getting rid of this line.

[Auto-Scan] I'm not an audio engineer, so I'm not in the market for the most expensive equipment, but I am forced into the audio role on some of my shoots. This microphone is perfect for me because it does a great job, delivering clean full-range noise-free sound, and without interference. Totally recommend it.

[1x Bodypack] These are incredibly awesome. It's a big investment, but for peace of mind, they're totally worth it.
