  • The EW 512P G4 features rugged, all-metal chassis well suited for extended use on location.
  • The lightweight, compact bodypack transmitter is moisture-resistant, easy to conceal, and offers rounded edges that are soft to the touch and comfortable for the talent to wear. A locking connector ensures that your lav doesn’t detach at a critical moment, while a convenient switch allows you to mute your mic.
  • Using the included shoemount adapter, the equally compact receiver easily mounts on your camera without adding much weight. The included CL 500 cable provides a balanced connection from the receiver to the XLR audio input of your camcorder, cinema camera, or recording device. The CL 1 cable is for DSLR/mirrorless cameras and devices with 3.5mm inputs. A headphone output lets you monitor the quality of your sound while recording.
  • Both transmitter and receiver feature daylight-readable LED displays showing reception quality, battery status, and audio level.

  • The frequency scan function automatically searches for the cleanest frequency at your location.
  • To get you going quickly, the transmitter and receiver synchronize via infrared interface with the simple push of a button.
  • 10/30/50 mW switchable RF output helps overcome interference or save battery life.
  • The adjustable input sensitivity on the transmitter accommodates mic levels ranging from booming voices to quiet speech, and even line-level audio.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Headphone jack?

A: This is the 512P G4, yes, has a headphone jack to monitor at the receiver.

Q: 2. Can it be mixed with ew100 g4 and g3?

A: All of the current 100 and 500 Sennheiser Evolution series wireless is compatible, including older generation G2 and G3 systems.

Q: 3. Should I get a different frequency if want to get two?

A: That is not necessary. The bodypack transmitter provides up to 8 hours of operation on two AA batteries, with a fixed 30mW RF power output and a transmission range up to 330'. Up to 12 wireless mics can operate simultaneously in the same space, with the receivers linked together for fast, multi-channel frequency setup. Fast Multi-Channel Setup for Expanded System To simplify and speed up your workflow, two RJ10 data networking ports allow you to daisy-chain up to 12 receivers and quickly perform a frequency setup for the entire multi-channel system via the Easy Setup function. If you assign the frequencies manually, you can expand the setup to accommodate a maximum of 20 receivers. An RJ10 cable is included.

Q: 4. I want to buy shennheiser ew513 g4 gw1. the note is more on the way. So when can I buy? When will in stock?

Q: 5. Can I split the AF OUT of the EK500 with a 'Y' cable, run one side to my FX6's XLR, the other, to an onboard mini recorder? Thx.

A: Yes, you can use a Y-cable to split the output from a Sennheiser EK 500 Receiver to send the audio to two different devices, like two separate audio recorders, cameras, mixers, etc. You can use a cable like the Saramonic SR-UM10-CC1 3.5mm TRS to Two XLR Male Output Y-Cable for Wireless Mic Systems (B&H # SASRUM10CC1), or use an adapter like the ALZO 3.5mm Female to Dual XLR Male Stereo Microphone Adapter Cord for Pro Camcorders (B&H # AL130) together with the 3.5mm receiver output cable and, if needed, additional XLR cables to extend the length.

Q: 6. What's the latency?

A: The manufacturer has not provided any specifications for latency for the Sennheiser EW 512P G4 Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System.

[Bodypack] I'm not an audio engineer, so I'm not in the market for the most expensive equipment, but I am forced into the audio role on some of my shoots. This microphone is perfect for me because it does a great job, delivering clean full-range noise-free sound, and without interference. Totally recommend it.

[Omnidirectional] I bought a set of G3 packs several years ago and they were great. Minimal to no problems, got me through a lot of interviews. Nowadays, I am becoming more known for audio than video, so I started upgrading my gear and THESE packs were a HUGE upgrade. I still have my G3s, but obviously the G4 is my primary go-to.

The packs: Solid, sturdy, better display (blue, instead of orange), sharper text it seems. I have only had two instances of weird RF stuff. I just re-scanned the freq. and re-sync'd and everything was fine. I love having the confidence that audio isn't going to stop the show because lav packs are acting up, again. My biggest problem has been the mute button being accidentally switched and that's nothing to troubleshoot.

The mic: The MKE2 is insanely better than the ME2 that comes with the G3s. I just used them side-by-side on a windy day. The MKE2 was clean and virtually unaffected. The G3/ME2 seemed noisy and much less pristine quality. Luckily, the talent wearing the better pack did all the talking. But, it was a noticeable difference.

So, from here, that changed my mind - Time to get my G4 a sibling. I am going to buy two more MKE2 lavs for the G3s, and I am getting a second G4 system to round out my arsenal. This whole system is a significant upgrade for working pros. If you moonlight as a sound person, like a videographer role, the G3s are absolutely fine.

But, for someone charging clients for a sound person, you need to deliver and these are perfect for corporate/doc/live event application. You often see people showing up with older packs and running into problem after problem. These Sennheisers are built for the modern day where everything is wireless and RF is everywhere. You start becoming everyone's go-to, because you are operating the most modern gear...and that equals money.

[Analog UHF ] Im frustrated that I had to buy a new wireless lav system while my old ew100 G3 system still worked just fine but the FCC sold off the bandwidth. I upgraded to the G4 and am very happy with it so far.

[Analog UHF ] I had the G3 for about 3 years and decided to get a second lavalier. The MKE 2 mic sounds far better than the cheaper ME mic.

[3520] Being an interiors photographer/videographer, the need for a wireless lav setup hasn't been critical until just recently as I've been getting more commercial work. Researching what's currently available kept leading me back to the Sennheiser systems, and I'm glad it did. The downside often stated with the G4 system is it is perhaps too complicated to set up vs the newer systems, but that complication ultimately yields more flexibility. I figured I'd learn the complication to be able to have the flexibility. Boy was I (pleasantly) surprised when I unpacked the unit, clipped on the mic, switched both modules on and it automatically worked. Granted, the level was a bit low, but that took me all of 2 seconds to figure out how to boost the sensitivity/gain in the menu. Beautiful unit...and yeah, whoever was having trouble setting one of these up should probably steer well clear of cine cameras. ;)

[Battery] I pay as much attention to what's in the frame of my camera as I do with sound. I went with the Sennheiser EW 512P G4 to have a sense of security, reliability and great audio. The MKE 2 lavalier sounds great; and I actually like the durability of the wire. It feels that it will last longer because of it. Not knowing where my next gig will take me, to have 88Mhz RF bandwidth and 3530 RF channels, I will ensure to have the best connection possible in almost any scenario. I'm very happy with my purchase! I look forward on purchasing a second one for those gigs where I have to mic up two subjects and/or as a backup in case something happens to one of them.

[Omnidirectional] Suddenly the price was reduced as Sennheiser was figuring out what they were doing with this line. I call B&H to verify the low price. I couldn't pass it up. The price did go up a week later to original on all audio sites. Pays to keep looking . I saved several hundred dollars. It's too bad Sennheiser is getting rid of this line.
