The Tiffen 52mm 81C Light Balancing Filterhelps to decrease the color temperature by 400K in order to warm the image slightly in order to match the color quality of illumination. When using an 81C filter, you will be able to attain 3200K balance when the prevailing light source is 3600K. The warming effect of this filter requires a 0.3-stop increase in exposure for normal results.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this filter fit the 14-24mm?

A: If you are referring to the Nikon 14-24 mm F2.8 lens, that 82mm filter will not fit . There are a few filter holders available for that lens, here is a link to a good one. https://bhpho.to/2EnYPGZ These holders use square 150 x 150 mm filters. https://bhpho.to/2ZSRV4g

Q: 2. What is the difference between close-up lenses and extension tubes? Is one better than the other for close up work?

A: Close-up lenses are less expensive and will allow the use of all electronic functions of the lens. They are like putting a magnifier in front of the lens. However image quality is slightly degraded due to adding another optical element. Extension tubes magnify by increasing lens distance but you will lose some functions of the lens.

Q: 3. will this filter protect my lens for the upcoming annular eclipse?

A: The Tiffen Solar ND Filter (77mm, 18-Stop, Special 50th Anniversary Edition) is appropriate for protecting your camera and lens, but it should not be used for viewing the sun with the naked eye.

Q: 4. How does this protection filter compare to the Sigma Ceramic protection filter as far as quality of image as well as protection?

A: The image quality is not affected by either, but the Sigma ceramic filter has superior protection.

Q: 5. Does this fit on the front end of Nikon's 200-400mm f/4 lens?

A: Yes. I have this on my 200-400.

Q: 6. which filter for 18-140mm f3.5?

A: If you don't know the answer, check the flip side of your lens cap, you will find the answer. This applies to every lens.

Q: 7. I have just purchased a used 70-300mm Nikon lens. I would like to protect the lens. Would this be an appropriate filter to accomplish this task?

A: Yes.

Q: 8. Can I use with Nikon P1000 ?

A: Yes, the P1000 is compatible with this filter.

Q: 9. Dose Nikon make Neutral Density filters?

A: NO

Q: 10. Is this the best filter for Nikon d5500 50mm lens?

A: I'd recommend checking on the Nikon website to be sure you're getting the right-sized lens for your camera. I ordered it to protect the lens on my D3200.

[4 x 3.1 x 0.6"] Great filter. Really enhances any red and brown tones. I use it to bring out the red tones in rocky Australian landscapes when shooting film. Leaves other colours (blues, greens) alone, unlike the warming filters which alter the whole scene. This makes it perfect for landscapes, as well as sunsets and sunrises that are more towards pink/red.
Good threading- never had any issues getting it on and off the lens.

[0.11 lb] Like the odd 1-iron a golfer might bring, a 47a is not the everyday go-to of filters. That said, it emulates ortho film amazingly well, and for certain types of architectural photography, dramatically lightens, if not whitens skies while deeply defining most everything else.

For instance, ironwork like the Eiffel Tower, a Ferris wheel, or an old, complicated bridge would become a nearly abstract study in lines with a filter like this.

Or, if one wanted images evoking a late 19th Century feel, the ortho rendition would be prefect, especially with a soft focus, Lomographic, or pinhole lens. Shades of Matthew Brady!

As for the Tiffen brand, there’s really none better. Never in 40 years of film photography have I heard of quality issues, except for a one-off problem once 20 years ago. They work and cost less, yet made in the USA!

While the deep-pocketed Leica or Linhof user may sniff at them, this Mamiya RB photographeur, merely exclaims, “Tsk!”, or even, “Tchah!”, and continues merrily. Buy with great confidence!

[4 x 3.1 x 0.6"] this is a good filter. I've used 81A filters for years. I know lots of people don't like 'em but this helps punch up my images besides warming them a tad. I use these on most of my outside lenses.

[81C] I'm a huge fan of using various filters to achieve the photos I want. I'd much rather nail the photo during the photography process than to have to manipulate it after the fact on the computer. The enhancing filer is a must have to achieve those rich earthy colors and nail the photo your eyes really see. No washed out earth tones.

[4 x 3.1 x 0.6"] Just enough softening to relax the hardness' in a portrait. Does not create any fog or flare. Love using this filter in the studio for both women's and men's formal portraits.

[81C] I often shoot women who just want that softer look and no matter how I tweak the lighting, they aren't happy. This filter is the magic weapon that works every time.
