[2.85 lb] If you have a Triopod, which is an exceptional tripod, you need this to make it a great tripod. A bit of fine height adjustment, just what it needed to make it even better. Highly recommended, as are all the Novoflex products, superb engineering, peerless machining, just perfect, and oh so useful in the field.

[20 x 3 x 3"] I have tried the RRS leveling base, the TA3 and their Universal model. I could never get them tight enough to keep from slipping once a tripod head and DSLR was put on top of either. It did not take much effort to induce slippage.

It takes much more deliberate effort to make this one move with the same equipment on top of it. More than I would encounter in normal use.

This one also is much easier to move, adjust and tighten compared to the RRS universal base with the wings (I do prefer the RRS model with the handle for adjusting).

The one thing that I do not like is the adjusting lever/lock is not captive. If it is loosened enough, it will fall out.

Physically, it does fit into the top of a RRS tripod with a 75mm hole, but the adjustment lever/lock is in the same space as the tripod apex/spider and too much material would have to be drilled out. 

It attaches to the top of the tripod just fine, though. It has 3/8 inch holes with removable 3/8 to 1/4 reducing bushings installed.

[2.85 lb] I have a small office that I needed to mount a DSLR camera for production purposes and needed the flexibility of something that could clamp to a desk and be adjustable. This fits the bill perfectly. Sometimes I use it with a Glide Gear teleprompter, sometimes without. This allows for the adjustment to all needs and people. I did buy a video head for it, but you could try it without, first, to see if *you* find it useful.

[20 x 3 x 3"] This tripod has proven to be sturdy, and flexible in it's use. It is great for everyday use in my field as a multimedia professional who has to remain mobile. It extends to about 7 feet high and works very well for capturing footage that is over looking a subject. Construction is nice and it seems like this unit can take some punishment. Though a bit too heavy for travel in my opinion, it is actually fairly light compared to other tripods in it's class. I would recommend this tripod, and will be purchasing another one shortly.

[2.85 lb] Prior to using this device I was shooting table-top scenes with my camera on a tripod. Regularly tripping over the tripod's legs eventually got to me. So when I found out that Manfrotto made a geared, table mounted column, I decided to give it a try. And I have never looked back. Table top photography is now a pure joy. I highly recommend it as a useful table-top tool.

It is a replacement for an identical setup that's over 10 years old and has travelled many miles bouncing around in my car or an airplane hold. I shoot architectural assignments and love being able to make critical adjustments down to the millimeter. It has enough height for most work I do and is solid for windy days near the coast. This tripod/head combo is a 10 in my book.

[2.85 lb] I love this tripod. It's super sturdy and dependable. I don't mind the weight. My previous tripod was too light and easily tipped. This one stays put and is easily adjustable.
