The Kaiser 55mm Push-On Lens Cap for Protectionis designed to fit any camera, enlarger lens, binocular, tele-, micro-, or spotting scope lens. It is for lenses having a front or rear ring with an outside diameter of 55mm. The cap should fit snuggly but not so tight that it is hard to remove.

A: While neither of these will fit absolutely securely, you will be better off getting the 47mm push on cap.

A: It will be a few thousandth of an inch under 85 mm. That provides slip on at low effort with grip strength from the resilience of the plastic material snug on the outside of the lens barrel. Dimension based on outer diameter of barrel not filter thread size.

Q: 6. Is the inside diameter dimension of this cap exactly 100mm?

A: I shrunk this lens cap in the oven to about 97mm to fit my Tiffen ND Filter nice and snuggly. Put it on wax paper and pop it in the oven at about 140 degrees C monitor it closely. Took about 10mins to shrink it! Stay close to the oven and make sure tou dont melt it though!

A: No, 50mm is the focal length and not the outer dimension of the front of the lens. You will need to measure the outer diameter of the front of your lens to determine a push on cap size.

A: Hi--since this is designed for a lens with a 45mm diameter, the actual diameter of this is slightly more than 45mm, probably 47-50mm.

Q: 10. My lens filter is nominally 55mm. But a push on cap would have to be slightly larger, wouldn't it? Is the inside diameter of this cap 55mm (or 57mm) ?

A: Since it is made to fit on a lens that is 55mm in diameter (not to be confused with a lens having a 55mm filter size), the inside diameter of the Kaiser 55mm Push-On Lens Cap (B&H# KALC55) has to be just slightly smaller than 55mm so that it will bend just enough that it can still fit and also be snug but not overly tight.

[55 mm] This 55mm cap fits a 52mm Heliopan VND filter. Essential since that filter has no outer threads. This is the only solution I found so I could protect the filter while screwed to the lens. Fits perfect and tight but still wiggles off sometimes. Bought an 80mm for my 77mm Heliopan VND that works great too. 5

[55 mm] This fits well and covers the retractable lens without coming off. It protects the lens leaves which cover the glass and eliminates dirt or dust getting in collecting on the retract mechanism. Doesn't remove paint from gripping the control ring. Sized just right. 5

[Front] I don't my Expensive Sony lens to have the front exposed when shut off, and this one goes one with a perfect tight fit, so that my camera lens does not get damaged. so very pleased. 5

[Front] I took a chance on purchasing the 55mm size for my Sony Cybershot models HX80 and HX90V. I could find nothing about this type of thing on any site that I searched. Well, they work beautifully to protect that very thin covering over the lens that easily dents and keeps the lens cover shutters from opening and closing. I am very happy with this item (x2). Though it is a bit expensive for a piece of plastic, it does work well. 5

[0.075 lb] I bought this 70mm cap to fit over 67mm thin filters. Fits perfectly. Not too tight, but doesn't slip off. Fits over other filters too. Simple enough but perfect. 5
