This 52mm Tiffen Water White Glass IRND Filter 52mm 4-Stopis a neutral density filter with a 16x filter factor that provides a 4-stop exposure reduction. Its 1.2 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By increasing your aperture or slowing your exposure time, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters are intended to not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

The design of this filter has been optimized for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly flat attenuation of visible light and infrared light. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibility to infrared light, compared to traditional film, color casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times.

This filter is noncoated, is constructed from Water White glass for increased clarity, and features an aluminum-alloy filter ring for durability while remaining lightweight. It is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this filter fit with fujinon 35mm lense?

A: There are several Fujinon 35mm lenses listed here on B&H and none of them seem to have a 43mm filter size. However, it could simply be that your lens isn't for sale here. Without more information on the lens this question cannot be answered. Can you provide more information about exactly which model of 35mm Fujinon lens you have?

Q: 2. Does this filter case any noticable vignette?

A: No.

Q: 3. Does it have a front filter thread to stack another filter?

A: Yes the Hoya 77mm ND (NDX8) 0.9 Filter (3-Stop) has 77mm front threads so you can stack additional filters.

Q: 4. is this ND filter ideal for video use? I plan on using it with a Sony FDR-AX33 4K camera.

A: Actually the newest ND filter by Hoya (the SOLAS filter series) would be more suited for video work:https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1285182-REG/hoya_xsl_46irnd09_46mm_solas_0_9_irnd.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1285182-REG/hoya_xsl_46irnd09_46mm_solas_0_9_irnd.html/a

Q: 5. HelloWould this Filter and the Hoya 52mm Alpha Circular Polarizer Filter work (Compatible) with Panasonic Lumix FZ200?Thank you.Shaun

A: The sizes of both filters are the proper size for the FZ200 and will properly fit it, however Panasonic's instruction for the manual discourages use of two filters on the camera, likely as it will become too darkened for the camera to autofocus with.

Q: 6. Do these filters come with a front filter thread so you can attach a CPL Filter?

A: Yes, it has a 82mm front thread.

Q: 7. Has anyone tried this on the Rokinon/Samyang 12mm? Any issues with fit and/or vignetting?

A: You will probably experience vignetting with this combination, as the HMC filter line are not thin filters.

Q: 8. Will this filter work on a wide angle lens such that there is no vignetting or blocked portions on the image?

A: We use the 52mm as a drop-in for a 200-400 f4 Nikon lens. No problem there.

Q: 9. Hi Do you have the B+W series 7 0.9 ND filter?

A: The nearest option would this 2 stop version: https://bhpho.to/3x5JhyN Series size filters are only made for older lenses so the filter selection will be rather limited.

Q: 10. Can two of the Hoya 49mm Neutral Density (NDX8) 0.9 be stacked for additional density?

A: Yes you could... but I would not. That is extra glass surface to catch light and cause distortion and reflection. If this was an expensive lens with perfect coatings... what I caution you on would not be an issue. I would not.

[52 mm] I bought this ND filter so that I can shoot video at a proper shutter speed and still use a low f-stop in broad daylight. It works great, allowing me to keep distracting backgrounds nicely blurred. When shooting towards the sun this filter in combination with my Nikon series E 50mm F1.8 does lose some contrast if I don't use a hood or a matte box. Nothing that can't easily be corrected by some slight curves adjustment in post. The color I get through this filter is very good, even though it's an ND2.1 everything comes out very natural with no noticeable color cast to the image.

[52 mm] This did the trick for eliminating IR pollution in my BMPCC when I attached ND filters. I tried getting just a IR Cut filter so I could save a buck and continue to use my old filters, but that didn't do the trick. These work like a charm!
