This docking station comes with a 135W AC power supply that provides up to 60W of power to your laptop via Power Deliver (PD), if it's connected via USB Type-C. This lets you work and use the docking station's capabilities, all while charging your battery.

With the addition of an (optional) cable lock, you can secure this docking station and help prevent it from being moved or stolen.

Keep your workspace clutter-free by mounting this docking station to the back of any VESA-compatible external display. It requires the addition of the K33959WW mounting plate (available separately).

This docking station supports the output to multiple monitors for Apple M1 notebooks.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Why does it say USB 3.1 2.0 and 2.0A and the specs say only USB 3.0?

A: It is tough to see at first, but If you look at the photo you will see it has a pair of USB plugs, once is rated up to USB 3.1 and the other 2.0. The reason it has a 2nd USB connection is some older computer models may require both ports to be connected for sufficient power.

Q: 2. Will this work with the Atom X drives?

A: Yes because the ATOM X drives are custom fit to the Atomos recorders.

Q: 3. Is this USB 3.1 Gen 2 or Gen 1?

A: USB-C 3.1, gen 1

Q: 4. Are there standard 5.25 inch drive bays that I could install in my PC case that will read these SSD Mini's? If there was a SATA connection drive bay that I could install to read these SSD Mini's it would make my life a lot easier than having to sit the docking station on top of my chassis all the time.

A: Don't buy... They burn out. I had the same experience with 2 units. The third party options have been pretty reliable.

Q: 5. Does this connect via a 10Gbps USB connection or a 4Gbps connection?

A: The Atomos Powered Docking Station with USB 3.1 Gen 1 & 2.0 offers up to 5Gbps speeds.

Q: 6. I notice this comes with the kit when you buy the Atomos Ninja Blade. Is it only compatible with Atomos solid state drives or is it able to connect with the SanDisk 240gb Ultra ll solid state drive? a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1075746-REG/sandisk_sdssdhii_240g_g25_ultra_ii_240gb_ssd.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1075746-REG/sandisk_sdssdhii_240g_g25_ultra_ii_240gb_ssd.html/a

A: The connector on the docking station is a standard SATA connector so technically it will work with any 2.5 hard drive. However, it will work best if you have the hard drive housing that comes with the Atomos because the hard drive will fit the connector better. Without the housing the hard drive will need to be slightly tilted to connect. The connector on the docking station is a standard SATA connector so

Q: 7. Considering upgrading my Atomos NINJA to Flame 7" with newer Caddy II. Will this work with both Caddy I and Caddy 2?

A: Yes, this docking station supports Caddy I and II.

Q: 8. will this support 12TB HDD?

A: Yes this will support 12TB under Windows 10 or MacOS.

Q: 9. can this docking station work for dual monitors for M1 macbook pro? NOT mirroring, Also can UD-3900 work too?

A: Yes, the Plugable Universal Dual HDMI Port USB 3.1 Gen 1 Docking Station will work for spanning two desktops to two screens from an M1 MacBook Pro. The UD-3900 will work as well, with the correct cables and adapters.

Q: 10. Transfer rate on this thing seems slow. 500 mb/s SSD drive does not seem like the bottleneck. What is the transfer speed on this thing? Is there something I need to do differently? Seems much slower than transferring footage off of an SD card. Windows says it's transferring just under 50 mb/s ... so slow.

A: Hello Aaron J, for it to be 50 mb/s it has to be your drive which may not have a USB 3.0 interface. our Dock has USB 3.0/2.0 backwards compatible that is why it still works but I'm almost certain it is the SSD/HDD you are using.

[Yes, Kensington] Perfect item, does what you need it to do

[Yes, Kensington] This dock replaced a previous from a different manufacturer, which would glitch/freeze up and need restarting. So far (months later) this unit has been boringly predictable, offering consistent performance. It has the connectivity we need, and the price was good. And from a dock (or any other kind of infrastructure hardware) isn't that what you want?

[Yes, Kensington] I didn't like my previous dock where the main connection cable goes out from the front, creating a mess on my small desk. This one has the main cable connecting from the rear, where it can partially hide in the back. It also has an actual power button so that my lighted keyboard won't remain on. There's also no annoying side ports, a plus in my setup.

One of the few knocks is that there isn't enough USB ports. The headphone port is out on the front, which is unfortunately way too common in docking stations and makes cabling traditional computer speakers a challenge.

As a reminder, the dock cannot magically grant access to more than one external monitor on basic Mac computers. It's fine for me since I don't intend to use more than one external monitor for my Macbook Air M1.

[Yes, Kensington] This dock works very well for what I'm using it for. With a single USB C connection, I can connect to the dock and keep my laptop charged at the same time. The dock is connected to a mouse and USB keyboard and a 15 FHD portable monitor as a second screen.
Very convenient. Especially for the price

[Yes, Kensington] This equipment works fine. This is my second Docking Station - a replacement for the first one, which lasted only a few weeks. The usb connector needs to be handled with a bit of care. I learned that the hard way.

[Yes, Kensington] It works pretty good. Whenever I buy drives now I place them in an Atomos Caddy. This way I have a portable drive AND it works on the Atomos.

[Yes, Kensington] This docking station provides plenty of inputs and powers my laptop just fine. We haven't had any issues arise at all in over 6 months of usage. The USB inputs are spread out well enough so there is never a problem getting things plugged in. Overall it was worth the extra expense over the cheapo options.
