[0.65 lb] The Tele Vue Accessory Package pretty much sets you up for the TV-85. The ring mount, diagonal and eyepiece are first rate. This is not some cheap starter kit. It's not cheap, but it will help you get the most out of your TV-85.


I note that the Delite 18.2 eyepiece is extremely useful and of very high quality. I am glad it's part of my kit.

[19.1 mm] I received this a few days ago for viewing planets, particularly Saturn and Jupiter, though my Celestron C8 cassegrain. I have several 2-inch Tele Vue eyepices (up to 16 mm) as well as a 6.5mm and 9.0mm Baader Morpheus eyepieces for greater magnification. The Powermate used with the 20mm Nagler Type 2 and the 16mm Nagler Type 2 provided greater clarity and easier viewing than the Baader eyepieces. Views were sharp to the edge of the field. I was impressed. I'm thinking of replacing the Baaders with another shorter focal length Tele Vue with which to use with the Powermate for even greater clear, sharp magnifications on nights of good seeing. The Powermate is more expensive than a barlow, but the quality of magnification with really good eyepieces is worth the money. I'm not parting with this--ever!

[19.1 mm] This is an heirloom-quality telescope. The optics are extremely clear - literally transparent. I've wanted one for 20 years but could not afford one in my youth. Now that I have it, I wish I would have sacrificed back then and had 20 years of viewing with younger eyes. So many purchases I've made in those years that ended up in the garbage or on eBay when I could have enjoyed looking at the planets and deep sky objects. This is one of the few items I hear people regret selling and end up purchasing a second time. If I were to break it or have it stolen, I would buy it again with no hesitation.

[0.65 lb] Exquisite optics and mechanical construction. Built to the level of quality expected in professional scientific instruments. 85mm aperture is perfect balance between portability and adequate light gathering power for most viewing situations. Haven’t used it much yet because of winter weather, but views of M42 exhibited high contrast with excellent resolution of 4 Trapezium stars at 67x. Views of the moon are very crisp and richly detailed along the terminator.

[18.2mm] I was looking for a new apochromatic refractor that was as large as possible while still remaining airline carry-on portable. There are a lot of options out there, ranging from inexpensive Chinese scopes to highly rated Takahashi to unobtainable (and unaffordable) scopes from Astro-Physics. The TV-85 is premium priced, but it has a lot of advantages over other scopes. 

First, it’s very rugged- more than just about any other scope. I’ve owned a TeleVue Pronto for over 30 years and carried it on lot of trips, and it still works like new. Second, it’s from a U.S. company who provide great warranty support and who have been great innovators in telescope and eyepiece design over the years. Over half the premium eyepieces on the market are copies of TeleVue designs.

The evening it arrived I took it outside for a test, and I wasn’t disappointed. Contrast is excellent, with tiny stars showing against a black background. There’s no discernible chromatic error- gone is the purple glow seen at high magnifications in my Pronto. I’m looking forward to taking it out to a truly dark sky site.

[19.1 mm] Ideal accessory package for my Tele Vue 60 Telescope which is needed for transportation purposes and is lightweight and easy to carry on airplanes and cars.

[1.25"] I purchased this carry bag for a custom fit to my Tele Vue 60mm refractor. This bag is designed for that scope and works very well. Good protection, nice foam padding and carry handles. Should strap. A nice plus is that it has pre-cut areas for accessories such as eyepieces, etc.The only things I can recommend is to have available a hard case to replace this soft case. Also, maybe consider adding the soft case for free.

[0.65 lb] This advanced version of a Barlow lens possesses outstanding optics; it will be a permanent fixture on my refractor for both observation and imaging.
