Known for its quality of light, the Para 88HR can be used as a powerful spot or a soft light with diffusers or honeycomb grids, for continuous lighting, or flash operation.

The most important light design parameter of the ParaHD is the ability to position the lamp head within the reflector to focus or defocus the light source. When in focus, the light is strongly aligned and has a spot-like character with high contrast. To defocus a Para, the light source is moved towards the opening of the reflector producing a soft "cloud" of light with wrap-around qualities but with still enough edge to emphasize the structure of objects and details of skin and makeup.

What differentiates the ParaHD from other large reflectors is that the light radiates frontally from the optical axis giving objects a sculptural, three-dimensional appearance.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I ordered this para 88 kit from our local provider. And now I want the 133 but don't have the budget. Can I buy only the 133 reflector (I know there is a separate reflector for the 88 B-33.482.00) and adapt the focusing tube from the 88?

A: The Para 133 reflector is not available standalone, it can only be purchased with the focusing device and focusing tube F or FT

Q: 2. What adapter do I need to use this Para with Siros?

A: You need this adapter to use the Siros Monolight, Broncolor Pulso Head Adapter for Para 88 FB, B&H # BRAPP88FS MFR # B-33.489.00.Note you need to take the dome off of the Siros to use it with this adapter and Para 133.

Q: 3. In broncolor website and everywhere there are 2 products listed 1. Para 133 reflector and 2. Para 133 reflector without adapter. This is with all para models. Can someone explain the following to me 1) If i take first one, can i mount the Siros L straight from the back like normal softbox position 2) If i take the second one i.e. without adapter, it comes with focused tube etc but does it come with the attachment where i can mount Siros L or do i need to buy something more?

A: The Broncolor Para can not be used as a direct light source. The Option with out a specific mount is a 5/8ths stud that can be used, but using a light off axis will affect the quality of the results.

Q: 4. Can you confirm that HR version is identical to non HR version but with higher heat resistance? I want use this for both still and video and I dont want make mistake. Thanks.

A: The HR version and non-HR version offer the same assembly method, though the use of high-heat materials allows for the 'focused' position of the lamp to be slightly brighter than the non-HR Para. If the intended use is both strobe and continuous lights, the HR version is recommended.

Q: 5. What's the difference between this kit and the FT Kit?

A: The main difference between the units is the BroncolorPara 133 FT Reflector Kit (52 )B&H#BRP133HRRKFT, would be their heat-resistant option designed for use with both hot lights and strobes, and has a maximum wattage recommendation of 2,000W Tungsten / 1600W HMI for hot light usage. The BroncolorPara 133 Reflector Kit with Focusing TubeB&H#BRP133RK, is a more economical option which is designed for strobe usage only, and is not heat-resistant for hot light usage.

Q: 6. Is the Siros 800L too heavy to be used in the fullt de-fcoused position with this kit?

A: The Siros 800L can be used in the defocused position without diffusion, but we recommend use of a heavier duty stand and proper sandbags for counterweight. When using the accessory diffusion with Para 133, there is a limitation of how far the unit can be defocused due to the physical size to be aware of.

Q: 7. is there an adaptor arrangement to use para with Profoto B1 or D2 ?

A: You may use the Broncolor Para Adapter for Profoto, BH # BRPAP88FB to attach the Profoto B1 and D2 to the Para 133 Reflector. https://bhpho.to/3JqMaS1

Q: 8. What does a ready to shoot kit with the 133 hmi cost, if i dont have any Broncolor gear already?

A: Hi there we recommend looking at the Broncolor Para 133 FT Reflector Kit (52 ) B&H # BRP133HRRKFT MFR # B-41.175.00 and Broncolor HMI FT1600 Kit (90-265 VAC) B&H # BRHMI1600LHB MFR # B-42.118.02, these two items paired together offer a great HMI solution with Para 133.

Q: 9. Under the Broncolor system catalogue, the 133 is listed as 3200 J rsp. 800 W HMI for allowed max energy. Does this mean the non-HR version can be used with up to 800w HMI continuous light, and the HR can be 1600w continuous?

A: Yes, the Para 133 non-HR can be used with HMI lamps up to 800W, the HR version is safe for HMI lamps up to 1600W and tungsten lamps up to 2,000W.

Q: 10. Is this compatible with the Broncolor pulse

A: Yes, this can be used with the broncolor Pulso lamps and any other broncolor-bayonet flash lamps via adapter broncolor Para adapter for broncolor (B&H # BRAPP88FS / MFR # B-33.489.00), sold separately.

[Silver] The quality of light is unmatched. My only regret - not buying this beauty earlier. The focusing rod and feathering yields a multitudes of variations of lighting on a model. Just gorgeous.

[Black] Easy to set up and use. Great case for carrying in the field - everything is there. I use this for head and shoulder shots and even full body portraits outdoors and in studio. The way it shapes the face and features of the subject is unmatched - and all with a singles source. Mostly shooting defocused but zooming as needed when farther away from the subject or for a more dramatic effect.

Quality is excellent so far on the 133. My other Para is a 177 where some of the stitching came undone at the plastic mounts near the outer tips after very few uses. I was able to stitch it back together in those two spots myself after receiving zero response from customer service. I have enquired 4-5 times to Broncolor with other questions and never received a response. For that reason I will stay away from Broncolor for anything other than basic reflectors and soft boxes.

[Silver] Peerless light output. Excellent build quality, easy setup and teardown.

Not sure what that other reviewer's deficiency is, but the Siros lights work with the Para series just fine... you can even find countless images with Siros lights attached to paras.
