Q: 1. Will this unit operate properly mounted upside down?

A: yes this will function even when mounted inverted

Q: 2. Being that the Genie can already pan when attached to a tripod....if I already have a genie mini can I combine the two for a 2-axis movement using the Syrp pan-tilt brackets?

A: Yes, you can combine the Genie One with the Syrp Pan-Tilt Brackets.

Q: 3. Can you use this device for repeatable interval exposures for nightscape panorama still photography, or just continuous motion?

A: Yes, the Syrp Genie One Motion Control Pan Head/Linear Drive, BH #SY00600001 can be used for repeatable interval exposures for nightscape panorama still photography. The function is built into the app.

Q: 4. Can this be used with a Hasselblad X1d or X1d mkII? If so, which cable is used?

A: The Syrp Genie Mini II Panning Motion Control System supports up to 8.8lb payloads. However, at this moment Syrp does not offer Hasselblad camera control cables.

Q: 5. Will this cable work with the Canon Mark 5DsR?

A: The Syrp Genie Mini II is compatible with the 5DSR with an appropriate cable. Syrp 3C Link Cable for Select Canon and Kodak Cameras BH #SY17006 • MFR #SY0001-7006. https://bhpho.to/37g6q66

Q: 6. Can it charge while being operated in timelapse mode? Is the battery replaceable?

A: Yes, Genie devices can be powered via USB C while running and they can be run indefinitely in that fashion. Unfortunately the internal battery is not user replaceable.

Q: 7. NOISE: I appreciate the reviewer who talked about the noise of this unit. I need a motorized pan that is quiet, since I'll be using it for panning a string ensemble while recording. Any recommendations for a quiet unit? Thanks.

A: Tolerance levels to noise will vary by user and speed of product. An alternative product to consider is Edelkrone HeadONE BH #ED82467, which has good noise level performance. https://bhpho.to/3izbz13

Q: 8. can I use the panning features with a motorized slider from another company?

A: You can however it can only synchronizes with SYRP products. if you intend to use it with a GVM slider for example you'd have to use 2 sets of controls 1 for the GVM and a second for the SYRP. this makes it much more difficult to use as oppose to getting all components from the same brand.

Q: 9. Is the Genie rope included? How long is it?

A: It's packaged with a rope that is approx. 10' -- but one can easily purchase additional rope as follows: https://bhpho.to/2TSlCko

Q: 10. What cable to use with Panasonic Lumix GH6? Lumix GH5?

A: The Panasonic GH5/GH6 would use the 1P cable BH #SY17008 https://bhpho.to/3cSJm4n

[3 h] I'm not sure what else you could ask from a motion control rig. Setup is super easy and control through the Syrp app is very intuitive. I love that the motor pulls any cord so it's not set to a particular rail length. I have the Syrp Magic Carpet rails, so of course they work together marvelously. I have the older version of the Syrp Genie Minis to create a 3-axis rig and they all integrate seamlessly. I was a little worried that they wouldn't be compatible but everything in the Syrp catalog works together.

I think I would prefer a screen with some manual controls instead of relying exclusively on an app for control, but keyframing with the app is so easy I'm not sure how you'd do it on a small LCD.

[9 x 6.2 x 5.2"] The Genie One operates at about half or less of the volume (motor noise) of the original Genie. I had a VERY difficult time connecting to a brand new iPhone 12 to do the firmware upgrade and was about to give up and return it to B&H. I was able to update both of my 1st generation Genie Mini on the first try. The Syrp website suggests using an Android phone. I live in an all Apple household, and I was going to borrow a friend's Android, but tried one last thing. I have a 1st generation iPad Mini, and tried loading the newest version of the Syrp app onto it. That worked, so I tried connecting the Genie One, and voila, the iPad downloaded the update and loaded it onto the Genie One on the first try. There are some very nice upgrades to the app and device and all are compatible with the 1st generation Genie Minis that I have for pan/tilt. All in all a great system, but there were big hiccups on the firmware updates.

[9 x 6.2 x 5.2"] The product is great. I'm specifically using this with the turntable kit. It's fantastic. However, no one really seems to mention how loud this little unit is. I was trying to shoot product at midnight with my noise-cancelling headphones on and my girlfriend had to come ask if there was a way to muffle the sound because she could hear it in the room. Still gave it 5 stars because it works as advertised and in the end the sound won't come out in your videos/photos but kind of annoying when you're going through the process.
I'd still recommend it but mention the loudness to anyone interested.

[9 x 6.2 x 5.2"] There were many reviews that mentioned poor battery life, loud noises and poor customer service. Fortunately, I haven't needed customer service. I find the device quiet and it worked as advertised. It was a bit of a learning curve to figure out, although they have good how-to video's. They just leave out a few things you need to figure out for yourself. Sony's require special menu settings as described in their documents available on their website. I like it a lot.

[9 x 6.2 x 5.2"] I have the Genie 2 system and slider and to be honest it's not without challenges. These v2 units are a big improvement on V1 in terms of connectivity, but I still have to monitor and work with the setup frequently to get it stable. However, the 5 stars is because this system has gotten me work, and given impressive results to clients that make the challenges well worth it. If I give myself extra time to work out things like updates and connection, it gives incredible value to my productions.

[3 h] Having a motion control system has always been on my list of accessories to have in the bag. Once I saw the video on this one, I knew I found the one I wanted. Couple it with the accessory turntable and you have a mini product photo display studio. Attach it to a tripod and the camera to the Genie, set the controls in the app to have it do what you want, and the rest is easy. Connect the cable to the camera and set the interval and number and degrees of the turn and click the record button in the app and walk away. I use it for both time lapse and product video display. With my Canon 5DsR I already have time lapse capability, so all I do is use the turn function on the Genie. I set it up as a time lapse shot and set the arc of the turn, and the interval of the shots and the number of shots, but don't connect the cable to the camera. In the Canon, I set the time lapse conditions (interval, number of shots and length) and press the record button on the camera and the record button on the Genie app. With the turn table attached, I set a 360 degree turn on the Genie, press record on the camera and start on the turntable and it runs itself. It is smooth and quiet (hint: it gets a little noisier the heavier the load you add to the turn table), but since I'm not recording audio, it doesn't matter. The Genie does provide for a still image turn table set up where you set the number of images from 8 to whatever and the Genie rotates and stops at each degree and the camera fires. You end up with from 8 to whatever number you set of still images, but I really don't know what the use would be. It's a little costly, but well worth the price. Well made and solid. Make sure you order the right connection cable for your camera.

[2 lb / 0.9 kg] So far, I've only used the panning feature. (A track is a future purpose). The controls are intuitive and the unit feels robust, if a bit heavy compared to their Genie Mini IIs, for example. App is intuitive and worked well.
