Offering extensive perspective and focus control along with the convenience of working with your digital camera, the black Cambo ACTUS-G View Camera Body Blackfrom Cambo ACTUS-G View Camera Body Blackeffectively transforms your digital camera or back into a digital view camera. As the core component within a modular system, this view camera body serves as the primary piece from which you can pair a digital camera body with a variety of lenses to reap the benefits of geared camera movements for correcting perspective distortions, achieving an extended depth of field, or producing creative selective focus effects. While resembling traditional large format view cameras in function, the ACTUS system also echoes the compact form factor of the digital cameras it is designed to be paired with and is optimized for use in both the studio as well as on location.

This view camera body is delivered with a 6.1" monorail as well as a 4.9" bellows to permit working with a variety of lens and camera types. The monorail is designed to fit within the Arca-Swiss style quick release system for easy mounting to a tripod, and is also fitted with both 3/8"-16 and 1/4"-20 mounts for attaching quick release plates. Optional lensplates can be added depending on your desired lens type, and the monorail and bellows is also interchangeable with optional wide-angle and longer versions of each.

A full system of movements offers extensive control over perspective and focusing settings. Geared on-axis tilt and swing movements are performed on the front standard and the rear standard permits geared rise/fall and horizontal shift movements:

  • Rear Rise/Fall: +0.5", -0.6" / +12mm, -15mm
  • Rear Shift: +/- 0.8" / 20mm
  • Front Swing: 360°
  • Front Tilt: +10°, -9°

The swing and tilt movements of the front standard rotate about the optical axis in order to avoid having to re-compose or re-focus after each movement is applied.

  • Requires additional AC-792 or AC-793 Bayonet Holder, for use with Fujifilm GFX or Hasselblad X1D camera systems; AC-78E Bayonet Holder and dedicated camera mount bayonet, for use with Canon EF, Canon EF-M, Nikon F, Leica M, Sony E, Pentax K, Micro Four Thirds, Olympus OM-D, or Fujifilm X camera systems; or ACDB-989 SLW Interface Adapter Plate Holder and ACDB-series bellows, for use with select digital backs.

  • Revised rear standard features geared horizontal shift and is compatible with removable bayonet holders.

  • Both fine geared and quick-slide focusing adjustment types are available.

  • Bellows and monorail focusing allows you to achieve closer focusing distances without the use of extension tubes or other macro attachments.

  • Zero-position clicks are incorporated into each movement type for more intuitive handling.

  • Monorail is compatible with the Arca-Swiss-style quick release system and also features both 3/8"-16 and 1/4"-20 mounts.

  • Front tilts and swings allow you to alter the plane of focus for employing selective focus techniques or Scheimpflug settings for extensive depth of field. Additionally, these tilt and swing movements are used to correct for convergence and other perspective distortions.

  • Rear horizontal and vertical shifts allow you to move the camera position while retaining the same lens position, making this configuration especially ideal for stitching multiple exposures without having to adjust the lens.

  • This black finish body is anodized for greater durability and scratch resistance.

  • Compact overall form factor is relative to the size of DSLR and mirrorless cameras.

As the central component within the modular ACTUS system, this view camera body serves as the means to which you can attach a variety of optional lens plates and camera bayonet mounts. Additionally, besides the standard included bellows and monorail, a variety of optional bellows and monorails are available for wide-angle and close-focusing/macro shooting applications.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What do I need to purchase additionally for a Z9, and what would I need to place it on my Manfrotto 410 tripod head?

A: To attach the Nikon Z9 body to the back of the Cambo ACTUS-G View Camera Body (Black) you need this mount, BH #CABHACTUSG (https://bhpho.to/2qkgl6o). It does not come with a front lens mount. These are the ones made for it; BH #CALP0HB, BH #CALP1HB or BH #CALPM39TB. And the camera should work fine with the Manfrotto 410 tripod head plate.

Q: 2. All of this work with xcd lenses?

A: Actus-XCD cannot work with the Hasselblad XCD lenses at this time. The lenses themselves are unable to be controlled when not connected to the camera body, and if used with a Hasselblad X1D body would result in the bellows acting as a series of extension tubes and not the intended perspective control method.

Q: 3. Will the DB2 work with a SINAR S30|45 back?

A: No, The DB2 does not interface with the S30|45 back.

Q: 4. What’s the difference between Actus-B and Actus-G?

A: The both versions can be used with a DSLR or Mirrorless camera but the G version can also be used with a digital back.

Q: 5. Will this work with a SINAR S30|45?

A: With the appropriate adaptor-plate (SLW-84) the Sinar S30|45 will mount to the Actus-DB2

Q: 6. Can I rotate the X1D body from horizontal to vertical without separating it from the system?

A: Yes. The Cambo Actus-XCD has a rotating Bayonet system. When mounted it is possible to change the orientation of the camera without removing it.

Q: 7. What's the minimum distance between the front and rear standard? Thanks.

A: The manufacture does not list the minimum distance the standards can be from each other. Technically it is very close but with depending on the lens you use you will never go to the minimum distance.

Q: 8. I think this is answered below but just to be sure, using this with a Mamiya (RZ67) 50mm ULD l& 110 mm lens would allow infinity focus correct?

A: This adapter would be required for use with a Mamiya RZ/RB lens mount: https://bhpho.to/3RGBJhv and infinity focus is possible depending on the position of the bellows.

Q: 9. Does it come with a bellow? I guess so but don’t see it in the picture. How big is the bellow? Is it compatible with Schneider 72mm/5.6 XL which has a 72mm size to the camera side?

A: The Actus-G body comes with a standard monorail and bellows which is 155mm. So that being said the 72mm lens should work. However please be aware that the Actus-G doesn't come with a camera bayonet mount, so that will need to be added. Depending on which camera you choose you may run into issues with infinity focus as well. Please see the lens compatibility chart at our website for more info.

Q: 10. Will the CFVII 50C fir this setup with the 907X in the loop, or will it work only with the back? And how does the shutter work in either case?

A: This product is only compatible with the Hasselblad X series cameras.

[3.505 lb] I fiddled with tilt shift lenses for some time and was never completely happy with their performance. The Cambo Actus-G (BH# CAAGCBBK) is a much more flexible solution and is only a bit more expensive than some of the tilt-shift lenses. Of course you do need to buy a suitable lens with a large image circle. I'm using this with a Nikon F mount camera and a Mamiya RZ lens adapter. I already had the Mamiya lenses so it was a no brainer. It did take a bit of time to figure out exactly what other items were needed but essentially You'll need 3 other pieces besides the body. The lens plate. I suggest a medium format lens like the Mamiya RB/RZ lenses. BH# CALPMRBRZB, The camera bayonet holder (Cambo AC-78E) BH# CAOBHDSLR and the camera bayonet plate BH# CABKNF. This is a very flexible system and using the bayonet holder (AC-78E) you can get different plates for about $70 so I could add in a mirrorless body just with a new bayonet plate. I don't know if it's by accident or intentionally but the Actus-G molded packaging fits perfectly inside a Pelican 1300 case - BONUS!
This will also focus to infinity so it works fine for architecture as well as tilting or swinging the focal plane for product photography.

[3.505 lb] The Cap delivered is a plastic cap, it is well designed and manufactured as expected from Cambo. I do like the older models aesthetics.

[3.505 lb] This rear cam is small enough to not interfere with your view out your back window. The picture quality is great!!!

[2.5 lb / 1150 g] Absolutely love this piece of Cambo equipment... They've gone through this design from top to bottom and have created a platform that is essentially a genius solution to having the ultimate digital view camera for those of us who require such a technical approach to creating images. The build quality and precision are top notch - everything feels very well machined and well assembled. The multiple lens plates for lens manufactures such as Mamiya, Pentax, Hasselblad, Leica and their very own Actar series of lenses allows you to have many options when it comes to lenses.

At first, this system can be confusing with what lenses will work with what body or digital back, but once you get familiar with their lens chart, it starts to make sense as to what can be used. The lens chart, listed below, gives all the data necessary to make informed decisions. I will say, with Pentax 645 glass, the latest HD DFA lenses are made specifically for Pentax's digital medium format bodies, which require a much smaller image circle than Pentax's 645 film format. So the A and FA Pentax lenses are a better option if you require shifting/rise/fall movements.

All in all, I would highly recommend this system. If you need rear standard movements, Cambo has even more in depth models known as the Actus MV and Actus XL, which in my mind seems better suited for studio and product photography. Personally, I use this system for interior design and architectural photography and I must say: it's working better than any T/S lens - and I own and use some phenomenal T/S lenses, i.e., the 19mm, 24mm, 45mm and 85mm PC-e lenses from Nikon; these are outstanding lenses, but the Cambo allows me more freedom of movement, so this is why I made the switch from a pair Nikon D-850 bodies and said T/S lenses. Freedom!!!!! (of movement).

[2.5 lb / 1150 g] I own three of these 810Gs (and a 45G) and have used them for over 20 years in product and architectural work. The design and workmanship is excellent and durability is lifelong plus. Controls are smooth, even after all these years. Only comparable camera would be the Sinar P. But this Omega G is sturdier. When controls are locked, its tight.

[3.505 lb] This is a good investment and a solid purchase to make. I also bought a CPL lens that takes out glare and it does wonders. I bought a Q800 Pro for the front cam and this works great with it! I wish there was a specific Q800 Pro rear cam instead of F800 one... I am happy that it works well! Also, buying from B&H is really simple and really fast!
