Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the 50 microboom come with a clutch (to connect the boom to a mic-stand) ?

A: The Audix MicroBoom Carbon Fiber 50 Boom attaches to any microphone stand with the included MCBOOM mic stand adapter. This adapter allows for the total control over the angle, rotation and position of the carbon fiber boom.

Q: 2. Would you be able to use this with the Nanlight Pavotubes as a light stand?

A: The thread size on a mic stand like this one is 5/8, so if your light stand uses a 5/8 thread then you will be able to use it with this stand.

Q: 3. What is the difference between this M1250B microphone and the M1255B microphone?

A: The Audix M1250B and M1255B are effectively the same however the M1255B is more sensitive for distant miking purposes, whereas the M1250B is intended for close mic positions.

Q: 4. To synch sound to footage shot on a Canon DSLR would this mic work via a zoom recorder?

A: The Audix SCX1/HC Studio Condenser Microphone Kit is a good option for recording audio separately into a Zoom recorder. Sync will likely have to be done manually in editing as most DSLR cameras and some Zoom models do not offer timecode onboard. It is possible to record timecode as an audio track on each device, which can be decoded by certain editing softwares for sync, if you use a device such as the Tentacle Sync E mkII Timecode Generator with Bluetooth 5.0 to feed both the camera and recorder the same timecode: https://bhpho.to/3Lj6m8W

Q: 5. I'm theatre director in a school with a carpeted (throughout-including stage)lecture hall venue that we use as our theatre. Maximum size- 300 people. No curtains, fly space, wings, etc. Quality Sound has been tricky for years. Would this be appropriate for my situation?

A: We bought two of these for our church and they worked well. However, I not sure we are using them to there best ability. They did allow people to hear the drama btter. Hope that helps. And I believe you have a 30 day return policy with B&H.

Q: 6. is there an xlr m cable included?

A: The Audio-Technica UA851R includes a 25 foot XLR output cable with with TA3F and XLRM-type connectors for connection from the mic to your recording/output device.

Q: 7. How does this mic compare to the Shure SM58?

A: The audio specs for the frequency response range and sensitivity of f50S and SM58 are fairly close. Both mics can handle very loud sounds but the SM58 will retain more clarity at the very highest sound pressure levels. In terms of construction, both mics are made of metal and are very durable. Both mics include a pouch and mic clip. There is a difference in the length of the manufacturer's warranty. The f50S has a 3-year warranty and the SM58 has a 2-year warranty. The f50S has an on/off switch and there is a SM58S model (B&H # SHSM58S) that includes an on/off switch. There is also a difference in price between the Audix and Shure mics which may also be a consideration. Please feel free to contact us by phone or through live chat on the website if you have additional questions or if you would like further assistance.

Q: 8. Will this work with any mic with a mini-XLR connector, or only with Audix? Thanks.

A: Yes, the Audix MicroBoom 84 Carbon Fiber 84" Boom can be use with any microphone that has a mini-XLR connector. The MicroBoom 84 has a mini-XLR female connector on the top to attach the mic and terminates with a mini-XLR male connector at the bottom. The MicroBoom attaches to any microphone stand and can be used horizontally or vertically.

Q: 9. What is the best choice to small school auditorium, the omnidirectional or Hipercardiode ?

A: Omni-directional mics are more susceptible to feedback, especially in smaller spaces. A Hypercardioid microphone usually provide the best gain before feedback ratio, however they are not very forgiving and strategic placement is critical in order to get satisfactory results. One nay consider a cardioid polar pattern as they are more forgiving; not too broad to pick overly pick up background noise, but not so directional to the point that a user must be right on the mic for an audible recording or amplification.

Q: 10. Is there a hanging XY mount for these mics?

A: No, I have not found one yet.

[White] These Heavy-Duty stands help prevent our preteens from knocking the Microbooms over during church musical performances.

[Phantom Power] The i5 is great on guitar cab and snare...The SM57 is warmer, but if you need a brighter tone... This is it!

[Cardioid] We are using these condenser microphones for a 20 member church choir. The product literature was very helpful for us in assembly and future modifation of our sound system. The sound technician and I also liked the on-line tutorials that Audix posted.

[Mono] I got this mic to interview a friends pre-wedding interview in our home. I'm a novice by audio standards but I must say I was very delighted in the sound quality this mic provided. Was also glad it uses 9V battery or phantom power.

[Phantom Power] Purchased in 1999 this mic still works after all these years. It didn't get much use, as I only used it to record acoustic guitar. Nevertheless, it can do a lot more than just acoustic recording. Build quality is great, sound is excellent, a wide dynamic range, and frequency response. With small condensers mic placement is critical, and the NT3 is a lot more forgiving than my AKG C1000s.

[Solid-State] This microphone sounds great for this price point. I use as a boom mic for interviews with Nikon D7000 and a Tascam DR-60D.

[White] this mic does a great job on the bottom side of the snare. Nice crisp high end, nice mids. Sounds better than the small condenser mic we were using.

[18 to 52 V] After doing a lot of research and really fretting over what the right solution would be for miking (mic'ing?) our small choir, I was convinced to give these mics a try after reading a couple of positive blogs and reviews. Was not disappointed - definitely a good solution when it comes to miking a choir.
