Q: 1. What does Dual link or Quad Link SDI Output mean? I want to use this with the Canon XC10 and send the 4K signal to a monitor with a single SDI input.

A: There are a few different strengths of SDI signal. The strength needed for 4k at 60fps is 12G-SDI. Some devices achieve 12G-SDI by having four 3G-SDI connections, which is what Quad Link SDI Output means and what this AJA unit offers. To achieve 4k at 30fps you need 6G-SDI, which some devices get by having two 3G-SDI connections, that is a Dual Link connection. To achieve this conversion with a single SDI cable you will need a device that converts to a single 12G-SDI output. The Blackmagic Design Teranex Mini HDMI to SDI 12G Converter is what you would need for this application.

Q: 2. What are the delay times?

A: 9 fields (4.5 frames) Audio or video can be delayed. I'm not an expert video tech - but I guess the actual time in ms would depend on the frame rate of the video signal.

Q: 3. Does the power in, power the unit and the camera if it mounts to the battery sled?

A: No it can not. however you can use the DC out on this converter to feed power into the camera via an additional power cable.

Q: 4. Will this work on cameras other than the z-cam? Or is it proprietary?

A: This is for Z-Cam only.

Q: 5. Does this take 7.4v power in only(like the zcam body), or it can take 14.8v dc in? thx

A: This unit will handle 6.8 to 16.8 VDC in.

Q: 6. How many frames of delay is there to the output of the SDI? I'm interested to see if this camera would work in a live production environment for IMAG.

A: The Z CAM E2 cameras have several frames of latency on the output that would unfortunately also pass to the Z CAM HDMI to SDI Converter.

Q: 7. Does anyone happen to know the diameter of the DC connector? Is it 2.1mm or 2.5mm?

A: The Z CAM HDMI to SDI Converter accepts a 2.1mm x 5.5mm barrel connector.

Q: 8. Does the SDI port support 4k?

A: No. 3G SDI is for HD. We would suggest something like this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1375457-REG/blackmagic_design_convmbhs24k6g_mini_converter_hdmi.html

Q: 9. So I still have a question about quad link 3G-SDI.So if I need to receive the UHD signal (3840 x 2160) from HDMI output of my camera Sony a7SII to SDI I need to use four 3G-SDI cables (quad link 3G-SDI) but how I can input all four 3G-SDI cables into Convergent Design Odyssey 7Q+ (it's saying in specs that this recorder supports Single Link, Dual Link, Quad Link) if it has only 2 SDI inputs, can anyone explain me how quad link 3G-SDI is working? And what exact SDI cables I need to buy? Thank you?

A: The HA5-4K has a single HDMI 1.4 input, it does not have any SDI Inputs. Also, the 7Q+ can record 4K directly from HDMI. You would not need a converter to use the A7SII with the 7Q+.

Q: 10. I have 2 questions. Can this device AJA HA5-4K 4K HDMI to 4K SDI Mini-Converter - be powered on from the V-Mount battery with a P-Tap cable - that do P-Tap to Barrel power and what is the size of barrel 2,1 mm or 2,5mm?And the Second question is can I use this device with a Sony a7SII that do output thru Micro HDMI to HDMI cable (I am using that cable Atomos AtomFLEX HDMI (Type-A) Male to Micro-HDMI (Type-D) Male Coiled Cable B&H # ATOM4K60C2 ) that goes into HDMI input of this device and than from this device I need to use 2 6G-SDI cables that goes into Odyssey 7Q+ recorder that now supports 6G-SDI inputs (that was saying on the B&H site SDI inputs now support 6G-SDI in addition to 3G-SDI.) so I use two 6G-SDI cables that are coming out from the device to Odyssey recorder is that correct? So I can have 4K input and recording up to 60fps 4K?Am I right or I can't make it happen?

A: There is a P-Tap cable for this product, it is B&H # COXPAJA5. However the Sony A7SII only outputs UHD 4K at 30fps. This product will not change that, nor are we aware of any product that will allow you to get 60fps out of the A7SII.

[1.035 lb] For the price, this converter is amazing. They are a livesaver in the AV world, I now keep one on me all the time. Compared to the BM/AJA converters (which are so pricy) and have to configure with DIP switches the decimator is very easy to setup with the screen. I even use it to just tell me what resolution a SDI or HDMI cable is outputting in. I often use at events to convert gopro cameras to right format to connect to ATEM switcher or when the client in running their MacBook at a different resolution and need to feed into ATEM Also in the news world if I have plugged gopro cameras into a SNG truck to feed vision back at standard def ect... it can run off a VLOCK battery with the right adaptors! Brilliant unit, amazing price.... and I'm regretting buying a handful of standard Blackmagic HDMI-SDI converters

[1.035 lb] just buy it, you wont be disappointed. Note using the laptop interface is much more intuitive than the OSD. also be careful to select the loop if you want 4 outputs to work, (oddly it defaults to 1&2 only) VERY VERY durable. mount plate works good for mounting on walls

[2 lb / 0.9 kg] What an awesome little box! The only thing they need is a little bit larger version with analog and digital audio inputs and outputs. Using two of these to go from Panasonic AG-HMC40 cameras to 3 BMD TV Studios, and they work flawlessly. You do have to get the settings right in the menu, but it took me all of 2 minutes to read the manual and get it set right. Build quality seems to be really solid. Even comes with a mounting plate. I would say this is a much better alternative to the Blackmagic converters.

[1.035 lb] Being able to send an SDI signal out of the Zcam means a step up in quality and reliability. I cringe every time I have to insert or remove an HDMI cable from my camera, hoping I'm not causing any damage to the interface. With this unit I am less worried about accidentally knocking the cable out and really doing some damage. The Zcam probably should have come with an SDI interface but now you can have one at a good price.

[1.035 lb] Look out Black Magic and AJA. This one is for the pros. 2 of these replaced 6 boxes in my work flow and gave me even more flexibility than I was previously capable of. Yes, it has a lot of options that can confuse potentially. However, if you just look through it and use it; then it makes perfect sense and is very straight forward. Up and operational out of the box and 30' up in the air in 10 minutes. Wow. Buy these. Save hours and put more capability that is straight forward in the hands of more Technicians. [1.035 lb] I work in corporate AV, and we have had a bevvy of adapters, distribution amps (DAs), and converters. I have never seen anything as versatile as the MD-HX. For the money, it's even a more must-have box. Most live video presentations use HD-SDI systems, and most non-camera output devices need some type of adapter to get to HD-SDI. Most computers have HDMI out (as well as Apple TV and other ways to put handheld devices into a switcher). These little orange (obnoxious color, but it's hard to leave one behind) monsters have become my instant favorite converter/DA combo.
