With the Telex BP4000A5F Single-Channel Portable Beltpack Headset Station, you can stay in communication on an RTS, Audiocom, or Clear-Com intercom system. This wired beltpack station features auto-wiring scheme detection, which automatically recognizes the system you plug it into, and configures itself to be used with it.

The beltpack also features intelligent power management, so you can daisy-chain up to 40 beltpacks by using a single (optional) PS-20 power supply. A current pump circuit constantly keeps tabs on overall cable length, versus the actual current consumption, so each beltpack receives the voltage it needs.

The BP-4000 has additional features to help make it easy to integrate it into an intercom system, including guided setup and various communication controls. Connections are made by means of a female, 5-pin XLR connection.

You have the option to set your talk settings to either "always on", "always off", or "switching". A built-in blinking lamp gives you a visual indicator to incoming calls.

Any user on the intercom can instantly mute the mics on all attached BP4000A5F beltpacks by sending an inaudible "kill signal". This feature can be overridden if needed, but is useful to have in situations where an open mic somewhere in the partyline needs to be immediately silenced.

Rather than configure internal jumpers and switches, short voice prompts help you navigate the menu options to configure the BP4000A5F. If needed, you also have the ability to reset the beltpack to factory default settings.

The BP4000A5F has a 5-pin female XLR port that is compatible with a (separately available) 5-pin male XLR headset. Both dynamic and electret headset microphones are supported.

A: This headset is wired for Telex intercom systems with a 4-pin female connector. so if the pin configuration is different for Riedel, you may have to disconnect and solder the connections appropriately.

A: Unfortunately Telex does not currently offer a PH88 headset version that is compatible with an iPhone.

Q: 9. When I plug one of these headsets with the 5 pin connector into an RTS two-channel beltpack, I can only hear channel 1. What am I doing wrong?

A: There is a jumper inside the beltpack that configures the box to work either in stereo or mono mode. The headset has a 5 pin connector, but is still a mono headset. You'll need to set that beltpack to mono for you to be able to hear both channels on this headset.Hope it helps.

[8.5 x 6.5 x 2"] The PH-88 is ubiquitous in broadcast control rooms and live production trucks, and for good reason. Good for all-day use, high quality speaker and microphone, durable, reliable, easy to fix and adapt for at-home use. $180 may look like a steep price for this, but it's the least expensive piece of pro production gear, and the one that gets the most use. Well worth the price. 5
