The black DPA 4061 CORE with TA4F Adapter is a miniature, moisture-resistant lavalier microphone designed for use with wireless systems for broadcast, performance, and theatrical applications. The low-sensitivity electret-condenser capsule can handle loud vocalists, speakers, and performers and delivers crisp, clear, and intelligible audio, while the rugged yet unobtrusive design is well suited to the demands of professional live stage work and presentations.

This version of the 4061 uses DPA's CORE technology to deliver a 4 dB increase in dynamic range and a 14 dB reduction in noise over the 4061 Legacy model. The mic includes two interchangeable capsule-protection grids that alter the sonic character of the microphone. The High-Boost Grid creates a peak at 12 kHz, helpful for chest placement, while the Soft-Boost Grid offers a subtle boost between 8 to 20 kHz, lightly enhancing signal presence to ensure clarity.

With an SPL rating of 144 dB, the microphone is more than capable of handling loud speakers, vocalists, and presenters. The mic can also be used very effectively to capture instruments—making it a flexible tool for houses of worship and live event productions. The 4061 CORE is powered by 5 to 10V plug-in power from a wireless transmitter and features a modular design using a Microdot output connector. This version includes a TA4F adapter compatible with Shure wireless microphone transmitters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the main difference between the Shure TL47 and TL48?

A: The main difference between the Shure TwinPlex TL48 Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone and the Shure TwinPlex TL47 is the mid-high frequency boost incorporated into the TL48 capsule's frequency response. The TL47 also has interchangeable "flat" and "presence" frequency caps for different responses. The TL48 is the most speech-oriented model of the TwinPlex line.

Q: 2. Do these come with the metal clips and space brackets? If not, which clip/brackets are compatible?

A: Yes, the DPA Microphones Clear Concealer Top for d:screet 4060/61/62/63/71 does include the metal clip and space brackets. I confirmed this information with DPA.

Q: 3. Is it compatible with Saramonic UWMIC9?

A: Yes, the Polsen Cardioid Lavalier Microphone with 3.5mm Locking Connector for Sennheiser and Polsen UWM Transmitters is compatible for use with Saramonic UwMic9 bodypack transmitters.

Q: 4. What is the difference between Shure WB98H/C and PGA98H-TQG?

A: the WB98/C has a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz, while the PGA is just 60Hz to 20kHz. The WB98H/C also can handle louder situations, with a max input level of 143.5dB, while the PGA's max is 130 dB. The WB98/C also has much higher output, which means that you do not have to turn up the input gain as high, which will keep it quieter.

Q: 5. (Sorry-- unable to edit previously submitted question about difference between two similar stereo pairs of 4061 being offered by B&H) Specifically, I'm wondering if there is any downside to the newer (I presume) model. That is, is it equal to, or better than, the older 4061, in every technical detail? Thank you. DG

A: The DPA Microphones d:screet Core 4061 is much improved over the original "legacy" 4061: as described on the B&H Webpage: DPA Microphones d:screet Core 4061 The Core 4061 miniature microphone amplifier delivers a 4 dB increase in dynamic range and a 14 dB reduction in THD (total harmonic distortion)

Q: 6. Will this work with Zoom H1n Digi portable recorder?

A: While we have not tested the Polsen Cardioid Lavalier Microphone with 3.5mm Locking Connector for Sennheiser and Polsen UWM Transmitters for compatibility with the Zoom H1n2-Input / 2-Track Portable Handy Recorder, in theory these two items should work together.

Q: 7. Might anyone be able to clarify the difference between this stereo pair of DPA-4061s and this older one: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/483055-REG/DPA_Microphones_SMK4061_SMK4061_Stereo_Microphone_Kit.html also being sold by B&H? Thank you.

Q: 8. Does this lav end in microdot?

A: Sorry! It is in the quick description at the top. Has a Microdot connector.

Q: 9. will this work with the Rode Wireless Go II?

A: Yes. With this adapter: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/390976-REG/DPA_Microphones_DAD6034_DAD6034_MicroDot_to_Locking.html

Q: 10. Polsen cardioid is compatible with Zoom H4?

A: On its own, the Polsen Cardioid Lavalier Microphone with 3.5mm Locking Connector for Sennheiser and Polsen UWM Transmitters is not compatible for direct connection to the Zoom H4n Pro, however, it can be used with an adapter to enable compatibility. The RODE VXLR+ 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter (B&H # ROVXLRP) will attach to the locking 3,5mm connector on the Polsen mic and enable connection via XLR, as well as to convert phantom power (48V) from the H4n Pro to the proper amount of plug-in power fo the mic.

[Plug-In Power] This a quality product that sounds great. I don't have a Shure wireless system and was hoping the mini XLR(TA4F) connector would fit my Carvin wireless belt pack. It did and I'm delighted...Also, the price was one of the best on the web. The only slight problem I'm working with right now is that the mic won't clip onto the bell of my clarinet. The clip isn't wide enough and doesn't open wide enough. However, I'm delighted to have this mic.

[5 to 10 V] I bought this clip on mic to use with my Tenor and Alto sax. I was originally using a beta 87 on a stand, so at first I was worried about considerable quality loss: not so! I even use it with the cheaper shure pgx wireless system and it sounds great! I am gonna have to buy another one soon to keep them ready on both saxes instead of switching....I should have bought this years ago.

[5 to 10 V] I owned DPA 4099, AMT and many other mic. But this is the best sounding, so light that you don't even feel that there is a mic attached to your instrument. Strongly recommend it!

[Omnidirectional] When used in conjunction with one of Shure's digital wireless systems this mic sounds pristine with trumpet and saxophone. I've tried many other horn mics before this and have come to the conclusion that this mic beats them all by a wide margin in terms of sound reproduction. BTW- this is the mic trumpeter Chris Botti uses in all his live performances.

[Black] I'm a sax player and this mic works great. The reproduction of clear sound quality is exactly what I need from a mic. The flexibility and mounting configurations make it a true joy to use. I would recommend it to my friends and buy another if needed.

[0.11 lb] This is a great mic for Horns or Drums. It's a quick install, so if you have a horn player with multiple instruments, they can easily change between them.
