Add 8TB of USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 storage to your compatible Windows or Mac system with the OWC Mercury Elite Pro Quad 8TB USB-C RAID Arrayfrom OWC / Other World Computing. This array is preconfigured as RAID 5 via included SoftRAID software. 8TB also provides you with plenty of space to store files such as music, photos, movies, and documents. This array provides transfer speeds up to 947 MB/s.

Within the array are four SATA III drive bays that can each house a single 3.5 or 2.5" drive using the included drive brackets. Each drive bay has a 2TB 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" hard drive. The array is software-configured as RAID 5, which provides a good balance of performance and redundancy. It can be configured as RAID 0, 1, 0+1, 4, and 5, each of which provides performance, data redundancy, or both.

This volume will be recognized on systems running macOS 10.6 and later as well as Windows 7 and later. Connectivity to your host system is achieved using an integrated 10 Gb/s USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, and both USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cables are included to help ensure compatibility with modern and legacy systems. To help ensure a smooth operating environment, the array is built using heat-dissipating aluminum, uses a cooling fan, and its included 100-240 VAC power supply runs at 50/60 Hz to help ensure worldwide compatibility. Also included is a power cable and two front panel keys.

A: Ari,I can only speak to this unit. The Qx2 can be moved between platforms if properly configured, but you cannot have them plugged in simultaneously.

[19.15 lb] I bought two of these to replace Drobos that we had been using for our photo storage. I've been very pleased with the experience. The OWC units are solidly built, and installing four 4TB Seagate IronWolf drives was easy. I also bought the OWC SoftRaid software, which made it very simple to set them up as Raid 5 DAS units with a capacity of 12TB each. They've been running for a month now with no issues. My only nitpick is that the AC cord and USB cables are rather short. I had to buy a six-foot USB C to USB C cable to accommodate where I wanted to place the units. 5

[1x 92 mm Fan] This is my second OWC drive and like my original, this is a high quality drive that is built like a tank and works flawlessly. I am not a high tech guy but I don't think they make them any better than this. This is a plug-N-play with simple directions that allow you to have it up and running in minutes. You can use it as a mirrored drive or load up the two drives independent of one another. it is virtually silent and turns itself on and off. Great product! 5

As others have said, it can be a bit loud but I'm not utilizing this for any post-processing power so it isn't a constant annoyance at my side. It's for archiving more than anything and I'm using all of the smaller SSDs that have piled up for post work. 5

[3.3' / 1 m] So far this product is great, its super fast, quiet, small. easy to install the drives and the instructions are clear and concise. I've transfered 2TB without any issues. If I had to find an issue it would be hard, it does have a slight click when you select it in finder that may bother someone (not me)! 5

[8 TB] I bought it thinking it was a RAID, but turn out it is only a Disk array. However, the build quality is good, transfer speed is fast and I put in 4 10T harddisk into it for my videos files. 5

[1x 92 mm Fan] Making mirrored backups of image files. Have several OWC external drives and no problems with any of them. This is Thunderbolt 1 not Thunderbolt 2 but it's extremely fast. A power switch would be nice but easy enough to unplug the Thunderbolt cable. USB 3 adds flexibility. 5
