Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the preAmp gain on the Mic inputs? Am I going to need a cloudlifter to operate my RE-20

A: Tascam lists the gain range for the Mixcast 4 as 66.5 dB which should be sufficient for the RE-20.

Q: 2. If I use this as an audio interface recording into DaVinci Resolve/Audacity with multiple mics, does it record each mic as separate, individual tracks or is it all mixed down into one track?

A: When used as an audio interface, the TASCAM Mixcast 4 Podcast Mixer, Recorder, and USB Audio Interface will capture all tracks individually.

Q: 3. Are you able to change the recording to either stereo or mono audio tracks on this device?

A: The TASCAM Mixcast 4 Podcast Mixer, Recorder, and USB Audio Interface has four mono mic inputs and two stereo line inputs. These cannot be swapped or reconfigured, but if you have a stereo microphone for example, you can record the left and right channels as mono tracks and group them into a stereo track in your DAW or audio editor.

Q: 4. Is this possible to use with teams/zoom meetings where I can turn off headphone monitoring, and hear audio with no feedback?

A: Yes, live monitoring can be disabled on the TASCAM Mixcast 4 Podcast Mixer, Recorder, and USB Audio Interface.

Q: 5. Can this product be ordered in a 220V version?

A: No, the Rolls RM64 Four-Zone Mixer is only available in the US for 120V.

Q: 6. Can this be used to control volumens and outputs to different zones like attenuators such as the AT 100D? And if so, in what other ways would make it better?

A: Thank you for your question. This unit has four stereo rca inputs with separate zone selector switches for each of the 4 zones. you can control the input and output volume from each channel and zone.

Q: 7. does this unit have echo, delay, and reverb ?

A: No, the Tascam Mixcast 4 Podcast Mixer, Recorder, and USB Audio Interface does have any built-in effects like echo, delay, or reverb.

Q: 8. Is phase reverse offered on all the channels?

A: No phase reverse shown on any channels, or in the Operator Manual.

Q: 9. Can you send to an external effects processor and get back the wet signal for your recording?

A: You can use the analog FX output to connect an external FX processor to this mixer. For returning the wet signal to mixer, you would need to use an available input channel on the board.

Q: 10. According to reviews the Mixcast 4 saves the files as a proprietary polywav file. Does it also save a stereo mix in mp3 or similar format?

A: The Tascam Mixcast 4 allows you to record in multi-track or stereo mixes and saves the files on an SD memory card in WAV format at 48 kHz, 24-bit, 2-channel stereo / 14-channel poly (BWF format). You can also route the output from the Mixcast 4 to a Mac or Windows computer, or to an iOS or Android device for a 14-in / 2-out audio capture on the external device. The files recorded on the Mixcast 4 can also be exported in 2-channel stereo WAV, MP3, and MP4 formats.

[15 VDC] There are so many solutions to multi-source, multi-zone preamps, each one with their own pros and cons. What stands out with the RM64 aside from its known quality is the fact that its four output channels are balanced mono XLRs (of course you can route each two left and right channels for 2 stereo output channels). The micro switches are clearly intended for installations with little to no user input on the fly. We're using the RM64 for an installation where we route separate music and microphone signals to two individual PA installations to enable both areas to play house sound, and to air general announcements.

[15 VDC] Ordered this unit for an install. Works great. I love the XLR connector instead of euro block. IEC power is also a plus over DC for me. Knobs and buttons feel solid and the sound is great.
