Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are these filters an advantage for speech also, or mainly singing? I never see them at speeches - only studios. Although, sometimes there is a foam filter over the mic..

A: This gooseneck filter is invaluable for speaking AND singing. Plosively popping Ps are particularly problemeatic without this piece in place. (Say that out loud and you'll see what I mean.) The foam and fur covers are for moving air surrounding the mic -- the wind outside or drafty interiors. I'm generalizing here, and sometime to super-isolate the mic I'll use both, with the addition of a foam backscreen or gobo. You lose a tiny bit of high end sometimes but there's no substitute for keeping air from blasting into the mic and ruining the sound.

Q: 2. How strong is the clamp? Does it slip down the mic stand? Loosen over time?

A: This pop filter is well-made and will not slip down mic stand. The clamp can be manually tightened.

Q: 3. Does this tightening lever ratchet?

A: Yes, the tightening lever on the CAMVATE NATO rail clamp ratchets.

Q: 4. Does this kit include the 492 model ball head?

A: Yes it does. My advice though is to Loctite the thread that secures the ball head as they can detach relatively easily.

Q: 5. I recently purchased a double ended spigot from B&H. I use the 1/4 end to attach to my Impact stand. What can I use the 3/8 end for? Full disclosure- A colleague of mine insisted I have one around the studio. He said it was a must-have item, you're not a real photographer without it . I really respect this man's opinion, but now I'm not sure it was a wise investment. Did I waste MY money?????

A: The clamp makes a great way of keeping speedlite battery packs without putting tension on the connection wire.

Q: 6. Does the gooseneck unscrew from the included clamp. If so, what kind of threading is on the end of the gooseneck? Thanks in advance for your time!

A: Yes, the gooseneck can be separated from the clamp. The manufacturer has not provided a spec for the thread size of the gooseneck since it was not intended to be used without the clamp.

Q: 7. How wide does it open?

A: About 1 1/8 at the tip and about 1 at the inside of the opening.

Q: 8. Will this attach to the fitting on my newly purchased Manfrotto MT190CXPRO4 tripod?

A: If you would like to use it on a tripod, you will need one of these https://bhpho.to/2ZWSzNG.

Q: 9. Should I use a 2" or 3" to hold up a seamless backdrop?

A: We highly suggest 2 inches pony clamps for paper seamless.

Q: 10. Has anyone tried to put these wheels on a "C" Stand?

A: These wheels will not work on the base of a c-stand.

[Spring] Love this item and own a few - perfect when you need a flash in a small confined space where there is no room for a light stand. Also comes in real handy for accent lighting as well - clamp is strong enough to clamp on to any surface/pole/stand, and can even be used stand alone - swivel head gives a 180 degrees in any direction.

[Flat] Just purchase the Revo cold shoe adapter with a1/4-20 stud and 2 knurled nuts. Covers the hole across from the 5/8 receiver! One knurled nut on either side of the hole and you're all set! You can even set the height of the stud with the nut on the inside of the hole.

[7.35 lb] I use this clamp along with the 237 HD flex arm and the heavy duty shelf clamp to hold reflectors and flashes in close up pics. Once I adjust them they stay that way. They are high quality units and I believe they will last a long time.

[19 x 6 x 2.75"] I use this to rig light-weight light fixtures in odd places. Very handy.

[Spring] This clamp is a lot larger than I anticipated, which is great! I bought a second one and use them to hold collapsible reflectors and a scrim. I love that there's a groove, which secures the ridge of the reflector without squishing it. Grips tightly, so it holds things securely.

[7.35 lb] The clamps are strong and hold tight. Some of the rubber tips came off and I needed to use gorilla glue to fix that issue.
