The matched pair of dark bronze Microtech Gefell M 930 mics includes two large-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphones designed for accurate, pleasing reproduction of vocals and instruments for live stage applications and home, project, and commercial recording studios. Additionally, two mic holders and an ORTF stereo bracket are supplied for easy positioning in stereo configurations. Each M 930 utilizes a pressure-gradient design and cardioid polar pattern to offer enhanced rejection of off-axis sounds. Transformerless circuitry yields only 7 dBA of noise and contributes to a high dynamic range of 135 dB.

The 40 Hz to 18 kHz frequency response features a gentle rise from 7 to 11 kHz for enhanced presence. An XLR 3-pin output with gold-plated contacts ensures standardized connectivity and 48 VDC phantom powering provides battery-free operation.

Cardioid polar pattern exhibits a high degree of rejection for sounds impinging from the rear of the microphone

Electronic impedance converter reduces noise floor while raising the maximum output capability

Low noise and high immunity to RFI

Clean, distortion-free sound over a wide dynamic range

Capsule and electronics are elastically suspended inside the compact metal housing to reduce sensitivity to mechanical impact and structure-born noise

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Why do you need a match pair?

A: Hello Tom, A matched pair of microphones keeps them as accurate as possible for stereo recording techniques. If they are different, then the stereo image could potentially change. If you're recording in stereo, we highly recommend the matched pair.

Q: 2. What windscreen and windjammer are suitable for these microphones?

A: There is no windshield made specifically for the CEntrance PivotMic PM1 XY Stereo Condenser Recording Microphone, but you could potentially use a windjammer such as B&H # AUWRWH4N.

Q: 3. How long is the 5-pin to 2 3-pin XLR stereo breakout cable that is included?

A: The Superlux S502MKII ORTF Stereo Condenser Microphone (BH # SU502MKII) includes an approximately 0.6 meter breakout cable assembly.

Q: 4. Will the matched pair still be a matched pair if I replace it with two NT45-O omnidirectional capsules?

A: If you replace one of the RODE NT5 Cardioid Studio Condenser Microphones in a matched pair, it should be very close, but may not be identical to the other mic.

Q: 5. Can I use the Rode NT5 (matched pair) for choir recording? Thank you.

A: Yes, that is what I am using them for. They sound great even from a distance of 20 feet. This is quite remarkable considering our choir does not face the microphones, but rather face each other. Our choir is located in the back of the church in a balcony. I mounted them on the side pillars and angled them towards the choir.

Q: 6. Why are my NT5 pairs creating some buzzing noise when the XLR cables are being touched? No matter what gain level it's at, same problem. (Btw, I'm connecting the pairs to the Tascam X8.) Will some better XLR cables help?

A: If buzzing noise occurs when you touch the XLR cables, it could be a problem with the cables and the shielding or a bad ground connection inside the cables. Try swapping out one cable at a time and see if it makes any difference. Keep the mics away from any fluorescent lights, computers, monitors, or other items that tend to hum. You can also try plugging your amplifier, mixer, recorder, interface, or other device that the mics are connected to or any other electronic items within the signal chain into a different power outlet. Sometimes the power line can be the source of the noise. But the first thing to check is the cables. If the cables are good and the noise is coming from the power line, you can use a power conditioner to help eliminate the noise. Please feel free to contact us directly by phone or through live chat and we can help you to troubleshoot.

Q: 7. Is this suitable for stereo Audio/Video recording in an X/Y arrangement?

A: Yes. This is a matched stereo pair.

Q: 8. Does the omni capsule come included in the box or is that sold separately?

A: The RODE NT5 Cardioid Studio Condenser Microphone includes a cardioid capsule only. The RODE NT45-O Omnidirectional Replacement Capsule for Rode Microphones (B&H # RONT45O) is available separately.

Q: 9. how do I register?

A: Follow this link to register:a href= http://en.rode.com/warranty/step1 target= _blank http://en.rode.com/warranty/step1/a

Q: 10. Can I connect these directly to my Zoom F3 ( since the NT5 has Male 3 Pin XLR) or do I need an XLR connector?

A: Although the Rode NT5 Cardioid Studio Condenser Microphones have XLR male connections onboard, their form factor would not allow them to be connected directly to the inputs on the Zoom F3 Portable Field Recorder. The NT5 should make connection to the F3's inputs via standard 3-Pin XLR cable.

[Bronze] We bought these for our church to mic a 100 kid choir. Worked well!

[End Address] Got while it was 40% off - great sound. Much preferred over the TLM 102/103. It's super sensitive to plosives/handling noise - so that's been a learning curve but I am very happy I made the investment.

[End Address] Clean detailed sound.

[End Address] In other words, excellent! Outstanding! I went back and forth between this mic and Neumann U87, having tried the TLM 103 in a similar price range and having been disappointed with the 103's tinny and thin response. If you're looking for a vocal mic, look no further. At half the price (or less) of a U87, you can have an authentic German large diaphragm cardioid condenser mic that is extremely quiet, with beautiful, buttery sound, and which is very forgiving and much more compact then the U87 form factor. I use this mike in a whisper room sound booth, primarily for voiceover and I can tell you the difference I am hearing, even between my trusty, industry stalwart 416: the noise floor is lower, with less detectable mouth sounds, and it feels like the dynamic range is greater than the short shotgun, with absolutely no boomy booth sound. I'm in love with this mike and I think you will be too.
