The Radial Tonebone AC Driver Compact Acoustic Preampis a studio-quality preamp in a pedal form factor. It's designed to amplify acoustic instruments on the stage, employing a Class-A buffered circuit for pristine audio. To help you achieve the tonal profile you're looking for, a low-cut filter, a notch filter, and a level knob are all supplied, as is a 180° phase switch to bust feedback.

The footswitch mutes the pedal so you can tune quietly on stage, provided you feed your signal to a dedicated tuner by means of the dedicated 1/4" tuner output. In addition to the tuner output, a 1/4" instrument output for acoustic amplifiers is on hand, as is an XLR output with a dedicated ground-lift switch for the house PA. Heavy duty components are used throughout to ensure the pedal's durability. The pedal requires a separately-available 9 VDC power supply.

  • Notch Knob: Sets the center frequency for the notch filter, which is used to eliminate feedback
  • Low Cut Knob: Variable filter that rolls off low frequencies and controls bass resonance
  • Level Knob: Controls the output of both the XLR and 1/4" outputs
  • Notch Q Switch: 3-position switch bypasses the notch filter or selects between regular or deep notches; this control works in conjunction with the notch-frequency knob
  • 180° Phase Reverse Switch: Reduces onstage feedback by reversing the polarity of the XLR output
  • Mute Switch and LED: Footswitch turns off all outputs except the tuner output, and can help with silent tuning on stage

  • A 1/4" input accepts your acoustic guitar's signal, and you can route to a 1/4" output and a balanced XLR connection for the house; a 1/4" tuner output transmit dry signal regardless of the footswitch position

  • Switches with metal outer casing are rated at over 20,000 cycles for durability
  • Glass-filled nylon XLR connector with large nickel-silver pin contacts are tougher than steel
  • A double-sided military spec circuit board has been employed to ensure durability, providing a full ground plane to reduce radio frequency interference
  • An I-Beam 14-gauge chassis prevents the circuit board from being torqued

[Class-A FET] It came with my Raimundo guitar and enjoying it. Built-in tuner got rid of an additional tuner plus the pre-amp with various settings and notch to offset works like a magic. Low battery indicator turns red and remain persistently red once battery is low.
Info on this website is far more helping than actual fishman website.

[1.4 lb / 0.6 kg] After many hours of reading reviews of Turntable preamps I decided on the J33 for several reasons. 1) Radial has an outstanding reputation with live sound and recording engineers. 2) One of the only units with XLR (Balanced) outputs. I'm using this with a Linn Sondek LP12 Turntable. Connected the L/R RCA outputs of the J33 into a Harmon Kardon amplifier for listening through Klipsch Forte speakers. The L/R XLR outputs into Presonus AI24 Mixer. The Presonus is connected to a Mac running Pro Tools. Main purpose of this is to allow conversion of vinyl (not available commercially in digital format) to digital format with Pro Tools in my recording studio. The meters in Pro Tools show almost -inf noise floor with the J33. That is very impressive. There literally is no audible hum from the J33 or the Linn. The J33 is also built like a tank. Very happy with my choice and would highly recommend this device for anyone wanting to add a preamp to their turntable.

[-97 dBu] Great sound, great options, small footprint. I wish they sold a fitted cover.

[-97 dBu] Great sound coming out of this from my warmup guitarist. As a DJ I use my PA system a lot, but my accompanying guitar player (for weddings/special events etc) uses this through the same system and gets immaculate tone out of it. You'd think he was using his amp. Really great product

[+10 dBu] Small, not too expensive and sounds good. I've only used it in one session but it is quiet, and the color control is not just for boosting the input but changes the flavour of the sound, depending on the mic you're using. Have not tried with a passive ribbon mic so cannot tell if the input/noise floor performance. So far very happy with this little unit.

[10 MOhms] I use this box to connect a mac mini to Powered JBL Monitors. I really like the gain knob on the unit, and Radial products are always built like a tank. This solved my problem and I would buy again.

[Class-A FET] I'm a jazz guitarist playing an 8-string classical guitar that goes higher and lower than a regular guitar. It has a K & K pickup and I my amp is a JBL EON powered speaker, which, for this instrument sounds better than any jazz guitar amp. I have used the Zoom A-3 preamp as well as an L.R. Baggs Venue DI. They are both very good but I'd say the Grace Alix is the best I've found. It has great features you can read about but I must say that the sound of my guitar with the EQ set flat is strong, clear and simply amazing! It's very well thought out. Worth the price.

[Class-A FET] I have purchased several turntable pre-amps and they lasted a short while. This one is substantial and audio reference. I expect it to last a long, long time. Excellent sound reproduction.
