With a wide angle of view and generous eye relief, the Baader Hyperion 68° 7-Piece Eyepiece Set (1.25"/2")delivers the performance that avid amateur astronomers demand for viewing and imaging. Engineered with an 8-element/5-group lens design, the eyepiece features Baader's proprietary 7-layer broadband multi-coatings to maximize light transmission across the entire visual spectrum with true color rendition and without the green tint and halos common in many astronomical eyepieces.

Baader made this eyepiece with a unique modular design that allows it to fit into standard 1.25" holders and accessories with the ability to remove the primary snout and have it fit into larger 2" holders. Since one of the lens groups is in the 1.25" snout, when it is removed it changes the focal length without changing the brightness or long 20mm eye relief. The focal length can also be changed through the use of compatible filters—allowing you to customize the magnification yield based on your optical tube assembly and need.

The eyepiece comes with a fold-down rubber eyecup for use with or without eyewear, and the eyecup can be completely removed to reveal a set of two threads. These M43 and M54 threads allow T-rings and other adapters to be mounted for direct connection of imaging systems for afocal and projection astrophotography techniques. This model is parfocal with all other Hyperion eyepieces except the 24mm version, which means there is little to no need to refocus when changing eyepieces within the Hyperion line.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it parfocal with other Alpine Hyperion eye pieces?

A: This is the only additional information B&H has on the Alpine Astronomical Baader 72° Hyperion 36mm Aspheric Eyepiece (1.25"/2") https://alpineastro.com/products/baader-36mm-hyperion-aspheric-2-eyepiece And yes to the compatibility with other eyepieces

Q: 2. will this product be compatible with the NexStar 8se?

A: Have a look at your eyepieces: there should be an internal thread on the end that goes into the telescope focusser. If so the Celestron eyepiece filters will fit, in fact they will screw into most brands of 1.25 eyepieces. However, they will not fit any 2 or the older 0.965 eyepieces. Kind Regards, Ian

Q: 3. What is the outer housing diameter of this piece?? I need it to fit inside the 1.25" Orion Variable Universal Camera Adapter. So this eyepiece needs to have an outside diameter of less than 38.3mm.

A: The outer housing diameter of this eyepiece is listed at 101.5 mm so it would not fit.

Q: 4. With the Barlow attached, this effectively goes between 3.5mm - 10mm, right?

A: With a 2X barlow correct

Q: 5. I have a Fuji X-Pro3 and T-Adaptor (for Fuji). Do I need this B&H #ALHTA43T2 in order to connect to the Mark 4 zoom?

A: That is correct, the B&H #ALHTA43T2 adapter is necessary to attach to T Mounts.

Q: 6. Would this lens Will this EP work effectively in a f/10 C5 scope?

A: Yes this Eyepiece would work with that Scope.

Q: 7. Can I use the T-mount adapter shown in "Recimmended Accessories" to shoot through this eyepiece with my D-SLR? I already have one, and a Nikon F-mount adapter. Can I just screw it to the threads on the viewing end of the eyepiece, then attach my D-SLR via my Nikon adapter, or do I need to get a special connector?

A: You need this adapter to attach a T mount adapter, Alpine Astronomical Baader Hyperion M43/T-2 T-Adapter BH #ALHTA43T2 • MFR #HTA43/T2 https://bhpho.to/30q8Ltq

Q: 8. does it work in the celestron omni xlt130? in the original 25 mm eyepiece and the omni 4mm eyepiece?

A: Yes it will work on both 25mm and 4 mm eye piece which you got with you celestron omni xlt130.

Q: 9. What accessories would I need to mount my Nikon F-mount DSLR to this eyepiece to shoot through it?

A: A T-mount adapter; BH# VELANFT. And depending on sensor size, some combination of extension tubes from the Alpine Astro T2 System for full coverage; BH# ALT225A .

Q: 10. Can I use the Baader 76 degree Morpheus 4.5 mm eyepiece in the Celestron Regal M2 100ED spotting scope I have ordered from B&H?

A: It probably wont work properly because its too magnified. The Spotting scope is too short a focal length, I would recommend a 12 mm & higher.

[1.03 lb] I have a 12 inch dobsonian Telescope with several eyepieces but none were photo friendly and Dobs are somewhat unconventional for photography. This is threaded for eyepiece attachment (with adapters) but still waiting on the 46mm threaded adapter so can’t comment on how it worked out. Based on basic eyepiece expectations I really like this and the many options and optional parts. Quality is exceptional, zoom detents 1.5 and 2 inch compatible make this super versatile. Eye relief is good, views in my scope are great.

[20.0 mm] This is a great eyepiece. Not having to switch eyepieces with very slight refocusing if any can be called no less than perfect. I'm loving it!

[1.25"] I really dislike swapping and keeping track of eyepieces. This is very well made, quite sharp and swaps between the focal lengths quite smoothly.

[1.03 lb] I am new to high-end telescopes and accessories. I bought this with my Celestron Evolution 8 and love it. I have zero complaints. Makes for fantastic views of everything I have looked at and is so convenient.

I do wish I had bought it with the matching 2.25 barlow.

[1.03 lb] I use this eyepiece on all my telescopes:

- William Optics GT-81 refractor.
- William Optics FLT-132 refractor.
- Celestron Edge HD 9.25 SCT.
- Coronado Hydrogen Alpha Personal Solar Telescope (PST), double stacked.

I find this zoom far more convenient than switching fixed magnification eyepieces.

Zooming out helps locate & center the target. Zooming in shows detail. Sometimes zooming all the way in doesn't help, such as when sharpness is limited by atmospheric conditions. Great: zoom back out a notch or two for a clearer view. Look at the whole moon. Zoom in on a crater. Zoom out. Find another crater. Zoom in. Zoom out, look at the moon, then zoom in to see Jupiter's moons.

Very convenient.

When you zoom, you do need to refocus a bit, but that's done quickly and I don't find that a big deal.

The zoom has an adjustable collar for eye relief - twist it out until your eye rests a comfortable distance from the lens. Helps avoid black spots (etc.).

I like this eyepiece so much I bought two. When doing visual observation with two telescopes, I found I kept swapping this with a 2nd, fixed magnification eyepiece because the Baader is better. This solves that problem.

Highly recommend this eyepiece.

[5mm] This wide angle low power eyepiece provides a clear view with stars appearing as pin points to the edge of the field. A real valuable tool in your eyepiece collection.

[1.03 lb] The eyepeice has a sharp focus throughout its zoom range. I replaced the very good eyepeice on the celestron regal m2 65ed with the Baader and am very happy with the results . The Regal comes with a good eyepeice but the focus softens a little above 35x . The baader stays sharp ,has a wider fov and is optically superior to it in general . The only issue is that it isnt truly parfocal. The addition of this eyepeice to a very good mid level scope has made a great improvement and well worth it . I cant wait to compare this to higher end scopes i think it will compete very well.
