The Hoya 46mm NXT Plus UV Filter for Camera Lensis a general use, clear filter designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, each glass surface includes five layers of anti-reflection coating. These coatings also offer greater protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters. An additional hydrophobic coating results in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

This NXT Plus UV filter is constructed from Schott B270 glass for increased clarity as well as color fidelity and features an aluminum-alloy filter ring for durability while remaining lightweight. It is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Such filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your front lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this an active lens with electronic contacts to communicate to an x-mount Fuji camera?

A: No. The following does not offer any native on-board contacts.

Q: 2. Where is this made in? Japan?

A: The country of origin for the Hoya 67mm NXT Plus UV Filter is Philippines.

Q: 3. The description says the iris is clickless. However, the recent Viltrox 23mm 1.4 is also clickless, yet people point out that on a Fuji X-T3 this is pointless as the camera will only adjust the blades in steps - or clicks, if you will. This is because the aperture is not really controlled by the ring on the lens but by the camera, which wants to change the aperture in steps. So, on the Viltrox, you cannot video a smooth aperture change. So my question is, would the X-T3 have the same effect on the aperture of this lens? It would be great to find out from someone with actual experience with this lens.

A: The Viltrox 23mm f/1.4 has an electronically controlled aperture with a manual override option, which may vary in support between cameras and with internal aperture settings. The FUJIFILM MKX18-55mm T2.9 Lens however, is a fully manual operated cinema zoom lens and will not change from internal camera settings electronically.

Q: 4. does it come with the lens hood?

A: Product is listed to come with a lens hood.

Q: 5. What is the difference between NXT Plus UV and Hoya 52mm Ultraviolet UV (C) Haze Multicoated Filter (HOUVMC52)?

A: The The UV(C) has the UV properties in the multi-coatings while the NXT Plus has the UV properties in the glass. Also the NXT Plus is constructed from Schott B270 glass for increased clarity as well as color fidelity and it has knurled edges for a more textured grip when mounting or removing it from a lens.

Q: 6. What size Canon Lens does this fit? 35mm?

A: This filter fits the Canon 35mm f/1.4 lens.

Q: 7. What is the light transmission with this filter? With the HMC and alpha MC there is some reduction in light transmission.

A: Hoya rates this filter at 98% light transmission.

Q: 8. Though a cinema lens, how feasible is it to use this as a photography lens?

A: Sure, you can use the FUJIFILM MKX18-55mm T2.9 Lens (Fuji X-Mount) for photo work, just remember though that it is a fully manual lens, so it won't be compatible with auto focus, in camera lens control, and in camera meta data.

Q: 9. This filter popped up while I was looking for a Swarovski ATS 80 case. Does this fit on the Swarovski spotting scope?

A: Yes, the Swarovski ATS-80 25-50x80mm HD Spotting Scope accepts 82mm filters.

Q: 10. Though made to cover super 35 sensor, will I still experience a crop when using on super 35 cameras?

A: Yes, this will be the equivalent of a 27 to 82.5mm lens after the standard 1.5x Crop Factor.

[0.08 lb] ...buy this for peace of mind. With my new cam and lens (yet to be reviewed NIKKOR Z 24-120 f/4 S), naturally I'm a little paranoid about dinging, scratching, weather infiltrating, etc - I'd rather this "cheaper" piece succumb than more expensive counterparts. Feel less guilty cleaning more often, less worried about carrying around exposed to light right, or when doing a quick swipe-clean with less than desirable wipes. Haven't really noticed impact of UV filter...

[Aluminum] I purchased this for one of my new lenses worth $2000. While away this past weekend my camera seen an impact to it. I didn't realize this when this happened but, I pulled out my lens to take some photos and glass was falling out of my camera. I looked at the front and realized that the filter was what took the impact and my lens was unscathed. I will be buying another one for sure
