The NiSi 77mm SMC L395 UV Filter for Camera Lensesfrom NiSi 77mm SMC L395 UV Filter for Camera Lensesis a general use, clear filter designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter. When the NiSi 77mm SMC L395 UV Filter is applied, 28% of ultraviolet light waves are absorbed at 395 nanometers, before which they are progressively eliminated, helping to limit the light that enters a camera to the visible spectrum. The appearance of blue casts that can occur while recording video or still photos under daylight that also features ultraviolet light is reduced, preserving color accuracy throughout the frame.

NiSi SMC L395 UV filters are constructed from Asahi glass for increased clarity as well as color fidelity while providing approximately 98.5% transmission of visible light. This 77mm SMC L395 UV filter features a 3.0mm thick aluminum-alloy filter ring for durability while remaining lightweight. It minimizes the potential for vignetting and includes corresponding 77mm front filter threads for use with other screw-on filters. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, each glass surface also includes an anti-reflective, hydrophobic coating that results in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this work with new canon RF 100-300 f2.8 new lens ?

A: Yes, the Canon RF 100-300mm adapts to all 112mm filters.

Q: 2. Will this fit on a Zeiss Dimension 2/50 lens which has a M49 x 0.75 thread?

A: Yes.

Q: 3. can this be used on a zeiss .cp3 ? will it cause vignette if so ?

A: We're afraid not. Zeiss CP3 lenses are cinema lenses that do not have a filter thread, they have a 95mm front diameter, not a threading for a filter like this. This filter is not compatible with a CP3 lens.

Q: 4. Can I use this filter with my Nikon 70-200 F/2.8 VRii Lens and attach the lens hood

A: Yes you can. They are fully compatible.

Q: 5. Has anyone tried this on a full spectrum camera? I have a Nikon D7000 that’s converted to full spectrum and I’m looking for a filter to revert it back to visible spectrum when the need arises. Looking to see how the results are before I pull the trigger.

A: Unfortunately, we're not aware of any tests that have been performed with this particular filter on a camera which has been converted for full spectrum use. Your results may vary.

Q: 6. would this filter fit on the Sonnar T* FE 55mm F1.8 ZA Full-frame E-mount Prime Lens?

A: The Zeiss 55mm UV filter will not fit the Sonnar T* FE 55mm F1.8 ZA, as this lens has a 49mm filter thread. You will instead want a UV filter such as the Hoya 49mm UV Haze NXT HMC Filter: http://bhpho.to/19tNmPU

Q: 7. does this filter pass 5577 angstroms? I wish to pass 5577 for auroral photography, but otherwise block Na 5890 & other street lamp emissions. Maybe i can get a transmission spectrum for this filter? Otherwise, can you recommend an ideal auroral/light pollution filter? thank you.

A: Unfortunately, for whatever reason NiSI does not list the angstroms for this filter. However, I would take their word that it is: Reduces Light Pollution in Night Sky, Blocks Yellow Sodium-Vapor Light, Blocks Yellow Mercury-Vapor Light, and Blocks Yellow Light from Low CRI LEDs. If it does not, they will lose customers.

Q: 8. Will this filter fit on my Nikon 50mm/1.8 lens? What size would I need? Thanks

A: Yes, the Zeiss 58mm UV filter will fit on the Nikon 50mm f/1.8G lens.

Q: 9. Does anyone compares this Nisi Natural night filter with Breakthrough photography "Autumn & Night Sky" filter?

A: The NiSi is a great filter. High quality and it's sharp. It does have a pink-ish color cast while the Breakthrough Photography is more warm and sometimes orange-ish. Both are really good filters though.

Q: 10. Does this come in 72mm?

A: Unfortunately no. The NiSi 77mm UV IR-Cut Filter for True Color VND and Swift System is only made in the 77mm or 82mm sizes.

[Multi Coated] It's a great lens especially for areas with a bit of noise pollution. Greatly reduced the yellowish-green cast which I'm not a fan of and left nothing but blue gorgeous skies with brilliant stars.
