Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this light dimmable? Can I safely use it in a home studio setting?

A: No. This light is not dimmable but it does have a knob to adjust the diameter of the light. In other words, the light can generally flow over your subject or you can narrow it, a bit like a spot light. I use this as a still life, light source in my studio and have used it for additional light on a model. It is an excellent light, especially with barn doors. And yes, it is perfect in home studio set up.

Q: 2. can you hang this light from a drop ceiling?

A: To hang this fixture to a drop ceiling, you will need both a Impact TVMP Yoke Mount to Baby Receiver or Junior Adapter B&H # IMCA116P and the Impact Scissor Mount for Drop Ceilings B&H # IMSRP124. https://bhpho.to/2Bez9Xr https://bhpho.to/2FnNkiJ

Q: 3. Can these lights be hooked up to a standard household dimmer switch?

A: The light already has a dimmer built into it.

Q: 4. I'm trying to find a part for my Pepper 420. Any idea where I can go? Do you all offer them?

A: B&H does not sell replacement parts for this light. The manufacturer's phone number is 800-762-4291 or 818-780-9828

Q: 5. Are these lights dimmable with a separate dimmer?

A: Yes, these lights are dimmable with a separate inline dimmer and switch, but make sure you use a good dimmer to get the best dimming. There are a couple $40-$100 that are pretty great.

Q: 6. Can I reformat the drive in the Ki Pro Ultra to a different file system, or do I have to keep exFAT as exFAT?

A: Yes...you can choose between exFAT (best for compatibility) or HFS+ (the Mac files system)

Q: 7. is this drive the same one used in the AJA Ki Pro Recorder or do they use different drives?

A: They may be different ..with other models

Q: 8. Is it compatible with SD360?

A: No, this Entrust Graphics Monochrome Ribbon Kit (Black, High Quality) is not compatible with the SD360.

Q: 9. Can these be wall mounted and do they come in white? Looking to use in small church, will be appox.. 20ft from chancel. 15ft high.

A: You could use a wall plate and an TVMP to mount them to a wall. Currently we only have them in black.

Q: 10. Is it possible to purchase just the fresnel lens for this light??

A: B&H does not have replacement lenses for the LTM Fresnel lights.

[28.5 lb] I bought this kit in 1995 and have used it well all these years. I've set it up thousands of times in over twenty years. Had to replace a few parts which are still available. The only problem I've had is when a airport put it through a huge scanner and threw it twelve feet into a rubber bumper. It dislodged most of the filaments but quick order took care of that. Oh and by the way... If you develop a nice scrim - gel kit and add a chimera you'll be set. A lowel dp fits in the same case. That's the beauty of this system. Great quality and truly built to last.

[31 x 14 x 13"] The best thing about this light is that you can tilt up or down to a greater degree than the ARRI 150. It will also take a up to a 200 watt globe. The Arri 150 is built better, but more expensive, it doesn't tilt as much...Which to me is important and useful. The AC cable WILL either melt or become loose with use. This will have to be replaced or repaired in time, depending on use usually a couple of years. Why won't LTM fix this? It's been the same for 20 years... But I still buy them!

[31 x 14 x 13"] For the money, the LTM Pepper lights are the best bang for the buck. I know that they are mostly used for video and television, but I use them for still photography. In the '50's, there was a genre of Hollywood movie star portrait that used a very hard light. The result was a dramatic portrait. The focusing spotlight (fresnel) is used in stage lighting as well as movies. The build quality on Pepper lights is very good. I travel a lot and their compact size is such that i can fit them in my suitcase.

[31 x 14 x 13"] I'm retired now and planning to set this lamp up as a reading light. It does everything that a 12000 watt light will do -- spots, floods, tilts, and pans, which is far more than thousand dollar designer lights will do. To make it complete, I'll add 4-way barn doors, and a snoot which contains it to a small pool of light, and instead of a conventional 3 leg vertical stand, will mount it on a "C-stand" which B&H sells, and which can put the light head anywhere you want it. Note, you can double the output with a 200 watt globe. Also take a look at the Arri line which are of equal quality, but maybe a more interesting industrial look.

[28.5 lb] I bought this to get the ability to focus and control spot size. I then had to order a couple of these little Pepper lights. I got one with barn doors and the other Pepper will have this Focal Spot attachment. Although the adjusting blades assembly is a bit awkward to adjust and use; once you get the right tensioning, you can slide each one in and out, without affecting the position of the other three. I found that by removing one of these four adjustment blades, I could then insert a piece of heavy cardboard. By cutting out various shapes on these cardboard inserts, I could in effect come up with a sharply focused image-spot. For my application, that's more useful than the adjustable square/rectangle shapes you can obtain with the sliding blades. I do wish the way the front lens assembly slides in and out could be a bit smoother. The little locking screw that holds the lens in, has to be loosened each time you want to change the focus. That does get a bit problematic when the light has been on for a while. This whole assembly gets really hot. Think I'll invest in a pair of oven mits! Other than that, this is a keeper considering the price.

[28.5 lb] I owned a couple of Peppers and I've rented countless of them lighting Hollywood movies. They are the smallest fresnel light made, and can also take a 200 watt globe which puts out an amazing amount of light. For photo work you'd want two double scrims (wire screens, each of which reduces output by one stop), one single scrim to reduce half a stop, a half single and a half double scrim to reduce output from any one side of the lamp, 4 way barn doors, and maybe a snoot set (narrows output down into a softly defined pool). Peppers are built like little tanks and made to take abuse and keep working. Having looked at many reading lamps, I've decided the 100w Pepper is the best that money can buy. I'll mount it either on a wall or on a brand-new century (grip) stand with articulated arm so I can boom it out. For video, with either a battery belt or plugged into the wall, you can attach it to camera and it makes a nice 'obie' light.

[28.5 lb] Perfect compact light for painting studio work. Quarantine has led me back to an old pursuit. This provides dramatic, controlled light with barn door attachment in lieu of the ideal, natural north light.
