The Zacuto Cage for Sony a7 III, a7R III, a9 Camerasexpands the Zacuto lineup of "no-cage" camera cages. It provides protection and support for accessories via 1/4"-20 threaded mounting holes and otherwise meets the criteria for what people generally refer to as a cage. Lightweight, but maintaining the robust build quality Zacuto is known for, the cage features anodized aluminum construction with a front plate, accessory mounting holes, and a removable handgrip on the camera's left side. The cage is form-fitting and holds your camera securely via its 1/4"-20 threaded mounting screw and the included screws that mount to your camera's neck strap eyelets.

The design of the cage allows access to all the camera's buttons, battery, and hot shoe unobstructed. In addition, the design permits you to grasp your camera with your right hand as if the cage were not there, while the included strap keeps your hand snug against the camera. The top plate incorporates numerous 1/4"-20 threaded mounting holes, and it incorporates a Z-Rail for an optional top handle or other accessories. The bottom of the cage is machined into a dovetail compatible with an optional VCT Pro or VCT Pro Dock, but it also features two 1/4"-20 and one 3/8"-16 threaded mounting holes for mounting a tripod plate. An optional top handle and Metabones support expand the functionality of the cage.

A: This cage is designed in mind to Sony bodies with a different form factor than the Sony a7ii and is not compatible.

Q: 3. Will this fit at A7R? The first version.

A: This is not compatible with the Sony A7R.

Q: 4. WILL THIS L BRACKET ATTACH TO A MANFROTTO HEAD?

A: No it wont. I have used a Desmond DAC-60 QR clamp mounted on the Manfrotto plate. This allowed me to use my Manfrotto tripod with this L-bracket. You can find these clamps for about $30.

Q: 5. Several reviews mentioned that the bracket wiggles a bit even when tightened down completely. Is it possible this is due to the screw being a tiny bit too long and bottoming out before the plate makes full contact with the camera?

A: It has a 2.5mm female connection. We are not able to test the combination you are asking about. It is our opinion that it will work. However, we cannot guarantee this combination and you will need to proceed on your own recognizance.

A: Sorry, haven't seen the A7III. I bought it for the A7RIII and it fits fine.

A: The A7RIV uses the same FZ100 battery system as the A9, A7RII and A7III. It will work with the A7RIV as well. This product was released before the A7RIV, which is why it is not listed in the name.

Q: 10. Will this work with the sONY a99ii?

A: We're afraid not. This is a form fitting cage for the Sony A7III, A7RIII and A9 cameras. It will not for the A99II, which is a DSLR camera that has a different body type. [1 lb] Super light, many other accesories to make it even better. I'm using it with a Sony A7RIII and an Atomos ninja Flame. Just ordered the hand grip to have better support. Rather than other brands that get to rust all over and sweat your hands, 8sinn products are made of pure aluminum, hyper ergonomic and amazing design. Im not paid by 8sinn or B&H, but as a producer-filmmaker i must recomment to fellow colleagues brands that worth every buck!....This one is a must buy! 5

[Aluminum] I wanted a light cage for my Sony a7iii to be able to use it vertically on my DJI Ronin S gimbal and this light cage from Smallrig is perfect. It doesn't add much weight for gimbal use, it adds protection, flexibility for accessories, and it makes the grip for the camera a bit larger which feels nice and comfortable. Glad I bought it, it's definitely a nice addition to the camera. 5

[Aluminum] Really, in this case, Light doesn't mean Lite. This is still a full cage version, with a lot better price for value. You still have enough mounting point, as well as protection. More than enough for you to rig it up. 5
