[5.6 oz / 158 g] You can’t rate the Genie ll linear without rating the manic carpet rails as well. Both work great I bought the carbon fiber ones and they work great both horizontally and vertically. I also have a couple on the genie minis and when you put them all tot you can get some great video and time lapse shots. The customer support from Syrp has been great. I highly recommend their products. Also B&H ships stuff quickly compared to their competitors

[11.1 V] Pretty simple unit, Came with faulty battery, B&H replaced no questions asked so I can't complain.

[11.1 V] The iOS app allows for easy and quick setting up. Remember to get the Syrp Tilt Platform as its not included in this kit. 

Items were poorly packed in box. B&H should not have saved on bubble wraps. I am still giving 5 stars because items arrived in perfect working condition.

[Lithium-ion] 3-Axis Kit from Syrp is clearly well made and very easy to use. The motion control app is easy and I have set up several timelapse test scenarios and it has worked flawlessly. Smooth motion and great results. For the price I wish the kit came with a carry case but I'll utilize an old travel backpack for it.


Be sure to order the correct link data cable to plug into your camera. Note: prior to using the link cable, I did try to use the USB-C connection from the Genie to my R5 and use the optional Camera Control app. It initially worked for my first timelapse but it did lose sync in between test runs (may be because the camera went into power saver mode) so I'll be using the link cable instead for all of my timelapse - it's solid every time.

[Lithium-ion] I wasn't too sure about the rope drive when I first saw this but read reviews that talked well of it so I ordered one. I did not order the magic carpet rails. Instead I bought a pair of 6' linear bearing rods from Amazon and made my own dolly sled for $110. That setup is working great for me! I have no complaints with Syrp Genie II and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quality linear motot system.

[0.46 lb] For doing precision camera work with controlled slider movement, tracks, pans and tilts as well as moving timelapse work, this kit is invaluable. It's tracking unit it uses a sturdy cord to pull itself along a slider or track or even a smooth floor. In case of the latter, the supplied 2-3 meter cord can be replaced with any desired length. The build is very solid and the battery life is surprisingly long.

Both, the Tilt/Pan and Track units interface with a very easy to use and reliable mobile phone App that is used to program and playback the desired movement.

I have had these units for two years now without any problems. Syrp it seems also continuously develop and improve the software and firmware and updates are usually trouble free, until recently when one of the units failed to update to the latest firmware after many attempts. I was pleased to discover that communication with the company's customer service was efficient, pleasant and personal. Both units work perfectly again.

[5.6 oz / 158 g] The Genie 2 is a big step up from the Genie 1 linear. The Genie 2 is powerful and can do straight vertical lifts with DSLR cameras and I've mounted some pretty big lenses on inclines. The app is great to use and the accuracy of step and shoot or continuous movement is excellent. This unit is much faster than Genie 1 and no more slipping rope on inclines. Battery holds up a long time even operating out in the cold.

[0.46 lb] It's a battery. Syrp works well for me and the old battery ran out after a few years. The new lasts many hours, long beyond the session duration

[Lithium-ion] As is the case with many reviews, I had not put this gear through full field testing, but the electronics worked OK. However, the 4th time using the Quick Release plate, the lever simply snapped off. This was - naturally - 31 days after delivery. So I did not bother B&H, but e-mailed Syrp directly.

To their credit, as my note got to them over a weekend, it took over a week for their RMA team to set things up, but a new system was delivered to me only 2 days after I received their (pre-paid) RMA label. 2 days after I sent my broken unit off, the new one arrived. That was very satisfactory, and I feel good about supporting this company; that look after its customers.

The Genie II Linear is markedly quieter than the Genie I (which I sold to buy this). It is what it is, and will not replace a frame-accurate Edelkrone, but is a great piece of gear for time-lapse and other uses.

However, they SHOULD replace this lever with a machined aluminum part. It might have saved them money in the long run.
