Q: 4. I have a case, which is open enough for charging my phone. Can I connect the mic without removing the case?

A: Although you are able to connect a Lightning cable to your phone with the case attached, it is not possible to say with certainty whether or not the mic fit while the case is attached. The Lightning connector on the mic is attached directly to the mic's body and the mic is designed to fit flush against the phone. You will have to test it to see if the case provides enough clearance around the Lightning port to accommodate the mic. The only way to know for sure is to try it out.

Q: 5. Can the microphone be flipped in the opposite direction so that the back cameras of the iphone can be used?

A: Yes, the RODE VideoMic Me-L Directional Microphone for iOS Devices can be positioned in either direction.

Q: 6. I just recorded a recital with the iQ6. The recording quality is terrific, but there is occasional electrical interference on the recording, and simultaneously on the Zoom Q4 videorecording. The camera and phone were both resting on a solid surface about 12 inches apart. Could this be because I overlooked to turn off Bluetooth and Wi-fi on my phone? Or is there another explanation? Thanks.

A: Yes, you should turn off the Wi-Fi before using to avoid noise. Because it's condensir microphone, it's super sensitive for the Wi-Fi signal. Hope this is helpful for you. jinho

Q: 7. How much space will I need to record an hour and a half using Wav format?

A: If you use this 32GB card you will have more than enough time. B&H # SAESD32GBV3G that is the B&H part number.

Q: 8. Can you use this to record vmail greeting on your iPhone directly into the native iOS Phone app?

A: The Zoom iQ6 Stereo X/Y Microphone for iOS Devices with Lightning Connector can be used with a wide variety of video/audio recording applications, but it will not work with your default phone app. iOS requires a Bluetooth or TRRS connection for phone calls or other functions of the phone app.

Q: 9. Could this be used vertically?

A: Yes, it could be used vertically but the kit was designed to be used horizontally for compatibility with the various accessories. The phone grip has three 1/4" mounting points so it can be mounted sideways to hold the phone vertically (portrait style). In doing so, you will be limited on options for mounting other accessories and may need to have the phone turned so that the mic is positioned on top.

Q: 10. Hello, when you plug the microphone into your iPhone, it asks if the device is a microphone. I replied no but not sure if this is correct. Does anyone know ?

A: This device is a microphone.

[2.07 lb] Sounds great on iPhone. Never downloaded the app for it since people say it's junk. It works nicely with the voice memos app. Make sure to put the phone in airplane mode though, otherwise you get a lot of interference.

[2.07 lb] I highly recommend the Zoom iQ6 to anyone in need of a high-quality microphone for their iOS devices. It's an incredible device that punches well above its weight in terms of sound quality, adjustability, and value for the price.

[2.07 lb] I use this mic in two ways. 1. for better audio recording on interviews and 2. for better audio with my video. The mic is wonderful for both. I definitely recommend playing around with it before you go out to use it professionally. It's got a bit of a learning curve but packs a mighty punch.

[2.07 lb] As of this writing there are two field recording external microphones for iPhones that utilize the Lightning connector. Zoom iQ7 and the RODE iXY. Essential to the use of the microphones are two apps available through the Apple store. RODE Rec sells for $5.99 and the ZOOM Handy Rec is free. Both apps will work just fine with the built-in microphone in the iPhone and both apps are interchangeable for either the ZOOM iQ7 or the RODE iXY. The ZOOM iQ7 costs about one half the list price for the RODE iXY. I bought the ZOOM iQ7 and am very happy with it. I don't have any way to compare the two directly. The RODE iXY may well be worth the additional cost but I suggest that any potential buyers compare the specs of the two units. I am using the RODE Rec recording app with the ZOOM iQ7 and find it far superior in terms of flexibility. I suspect that both of these apps are just a little past beta testing and there could be improvements in future upgrades. The cost of RODE Rec is nominal in my view and I would recommend anyone interested in these accessory microphones to try both apps.

[2.07 lb] I tend to be very clumsy with my equipment, this little mic. is so well made, I'm not afraid to drop it and worry if it's going to break. It's user friendly and at the right distance, provides excellent audio. Another Zoom recommendation.

[2.07 lb] I use this on an iPhone 12 Pro and it works as I would expect. Nice sound, no extraneous noise. To do it right, you will need a small tripod or GorillaPod. The mics require you to mount the phone upside down if you want the mics on top. The Zoom software is a pain - usable, but not very well executed.

[2.07 lb] Phone speakers are not all created equal and typically not good for recording on the run and or at home. The Zoom iQ7 takes your lightning equipped iPhone to the next level with super high quality audio recordings. I would recommend this to anyone recording audio into the iPhone for music and or voice recordings.
