The Palmer PEPAMPMKII Portable Guitar Preamp Pedalfrom Palmer PEPAMPMKII Portable Guitar Preamp Pedalis a solid-state designed preamp that delivers an extended range of tube amplifier tones from high-headroom and ultra-clean to maxed out high-gain distortion. With 3-position selector switches for amplifier design, gain structure, and loudspeaker miking simulations, this portable guitar preamp's circuitry lets you easily configure vintage and modern sounds as well as your own while its op amps deliver a natural signal to noise ratio.

For even more flexibility, the PEPAMPMKII Portable Guitar Preamp Pedal is equipped with master controls for drive and output level, plus a 2-band EQ that has been tailored for the guitar. Enclosed in a durable die-cast aluminum case, the portable guitar preamp is built with balanced XLR and unbalanced 1/4" outputs in addition to a 1/8" AUX input and headphone jacks. Additionally, the portable guitar preamp doubles as a practice amp, overdrive and distortion pedal, and a standard guitar DI box when bypassed. It replaces your stage amp when used with a sound and monitor system and is powered by a 9V battery or optional power adapter.

Q: 6. how does this work if I'm going directly in my camera (red scarlet mx..or my 5d mark 3)??

A: Well you'd need an adapter cable to connect it. While this would work it's really designed to supply a high quality signal to a standalone audio recorder for sync sound. It's hazardous to rely entirely on the camera for audio. A bad card or glitch in picture will affect audio as well. If the camera audio is scratch only then it's a useful reference and a backup in dire cases. If you have no option but to feed audio directly to the camera consider other options that are both more ergonomic and include a recorder: the Tascam d70 for example.

Q: 7. Made In .... GERMANY ?

A: There are NO digital connections (SPDIF):Inputs: Balanced2 x combo XLR-1/4 Aux (unbalanced):1 x TRS 3.5 mm2 x mono RCA ----------------------------------------------------------Output Connectors: 5 x XLR: (4 x balanced; 1 x unbalanced)

Q: 10. If I used this preamp with a recorder (TASCAM DR-40) at what setting should I put the audio gain in the recorder? I will be using it with a pro camcorder two, which has its own audio gain manual control, what gain setting should I use there too? Or should I adjust it while monitoring until I reach my sweet spot ?I'm still in the learning process. Thanks in advance :)

A: Hi - I use this preamp with a Tascam DR-60D Mark II recorder, so I'm guessing your DR-40 works similarly. The SoundDevices preamp sends out a line signal -- not a microphone signal -- so you would set the audio recorder input to line. (Page 48 of your manual has instructions on this.) You will not need to use gain on the recorder (and, in fact, I'm pretty sure that the recorder will not offer gain for a line signal). In my work with this preamp, I've found that the preamp gain dial on the preamp is the main setting to focus on. (If you're monitoring audio through the recorder, then the mon gain and phones dials on the preamp are irrelevant.) Depending on the type of mic you're connecting to the preamp, a preamp gain setting of 36-50 dB should work well, with an input level on the recorder of about 50%. Hope this helps!

[0.8 lb / 0.4 kg] First, I love this item . I have a Roland GR55 now. When I have access to AC power, I have a ball with it.
But,
I busk in my town’s Main Street where AC power is not available. Granted, the SY-1 isn’t as sophisticated and the GR 55, but now I can expand my guitars palette of tones.

I had been searching for this item for months. All the typical outlets kept pushing their in stock dates forward in time. I even made a purchase of the SY-1 on eBay, only to have the seller cancel the sale for no apparent reason.
I searched again and saw it listed on B&H. It said it was in stock. I called and was told it was in inventory. A few days later it was in my hands .

Cannot Be too positive about my experience with B&H. They came thru..hands down.

I have shopped with them before, but now, they are my first go to place for music gear.

THANK YOU!!

[On/off] Use this to record my acoustics in my home studio as a DI box. Sounds great! Tones of tone shaping options.

[510 Ohms] Exactly what we've come to expect from Boss/Roland. Pedal just works. Sounds good and built like a tank. Easy on batteries when you don't want to run power. Priced right.

[3] The MS-50G pedal is first class. It is every bit as clean, quiet, and well built as the Boss pedals. It is not a replacement for the Boss line. Zoom pedals have a character of their own. Personally, I like the Zoom tone. But I'm not a guitar player.

There is a great ~15 minute YouTube instructional video for the MS-50G. I got over the learning curve for writing and storing effects by watching this video, then I bought pedal.

It replaces several pieces of my high quality studio gear when I need fast results that are of high level audio quality.

Zoom delivers with this product. After I watched this video I purchased the pedal. I also like my G1X as a companion to this pedal. The G1X has a nice volume/expression pedal.

[0.8 lb / 0.4 kg] I needed something for my living room and practicing while watching TV late at night without a full pedal board or multi-effects box. This along with a Boss RC-3 and a mini mixer for my wireless headphones provides everything I have in my studio at a mini level. The sounds are good enough. There are enough options in sound to play most anything. Eventually I'll try this little beast as a sub for my full pedal board and see how it works in a live jam. One pedal to do everything. It's not perfect but it is great. I wish Zoom would provide updates to it and a better manager. It's pretty old by today's standards and if Zoom provided updated files they would sell even more if these great little boxes.
B&H had the best deal available and as always they provide excellent service. Thank you B&H. I'll Be Back, lol

[Solid State] The ISA One is a great option for most situations that need a strong signal to help their recording pop. This pre has 80db of gain total and is much hotter than may other mixer/stand alone pres. The sound quality is bright and full. On guitars it gives a wonderful pump on the top and keeps the high frequencey detailed. If you are not used to a strong pre, this one will definately make you feel like your other pres are dark and colorless. The only complaint I have for this pre is that on very delicate sources like pianos or strings, it can add too much mid tones and make the strings sound very processsed rather than natural. This is not a negitave so much as it is a comment on its best uses. Again great for horns, guitars, bass, drums, and any other source that needs a little bit of pump to make the sound fuller.

[1.215 lb] Great sound coming out of this from my warmup guitarist. As a DJ I use my PA system a lot, but my accompanying guitar player (for weddings/special events etc) uses this through the same system and gets immaculate tone out of it. You'd think he was using his amp. Really great product

[1] Nice preamp, transparent, clean. Gotta be the quietest I've owned, it puts the pre in Focusrite's own voicemaster pro to shame. Better than the pre's in my Yamaha console Figure this will work nicely with my 416 for voice
