IOGEAR's 8-Port Dual View Dual-Link DVI Secure KVM Switch is NIAP-certified and compliant with PP3.0 (Protection Profile for Peripheral Sharing Switch version 3.0) requirements, satisfying the latest security requisites set by the US Department of Defense for peripheral sharing switches.

Common criteria compliance ensures maximum information security while sharing a single set of approved HIDs - keyboards, mice, speakers, CAC readers, and Microsoft Biometric Readers - between multiple computers. Conformity with Protection Profile v3.0 certifies that non-approved USB peripherals will be rejected and cannot be connected to the Secure KVM, providing high-level security, protection, and data safekeeping.

The IOGEAR Secure KVM Switch's hardware security is comprised of tamper-evident seals, active chassis intrusion detection, and tamperproof hardware. Embedded software security allows administrators to grant controlled USB port access for keyboards, mice, and other devices while ignoring commands from non-HIDs when switching between ports. The onboard software restricts mouse and hotkey commands while clearing the keyboard's buffer when switching ports while ensuring data travels isolated on each port preventing exposure.

The 8-Port Dual View Dual-Link DVI Secure KVM supports dual monitors and resolutions up to 3840 x 2160 @ 30 Hz.

Q: 1. Will this splitter support a vga source(w/ vga to dvi cable) with vga, dvi, and hdmi outputs?

[8] I have been struggling with 3 mechanical switch boxes to bounce between my two dual monitor Macs. The video switches, after a few weeks, began to fail. The contacts became faulty and the monitors displayed incorrect colors or incorrect luma. I had to manipulate the switch to get a near decent image. Now remember I had to use a USB switch for my keyboard and mouse. Same story. The connections were intermittent causing erratic performance. The Iogear Dual View 2 port KVM (GCS1742) exceeded my expectations. The installation procedure was well documented and went without a hitch. The switch comes with all of the cables necessary. Both of my computer now communicate with both monitors, my keyboard and mouse, my audio out and audio in, seamlessly using a fraction of the desk real estate of my previous setup. When all is said and done this switch performs flawlessly and has greatly simplified the cabling needed to achieve the dual monitor, keyboard, speaker and microphone connection to two computers. I am quite pleased to find a product that efficiently does what it claims to do.

[8] I have a laptop docking station (display port, dvi) and a PC (dvi, dvi) connected to the switch. the switch is then connected to one monitor via dvi, and the other via a dvi-hdmi cable. My docking station requires an adapter for the display port. I am having no issues switching between the two. The PC and laptop goes to sleep just as it did before using the switch.

One thing that is a bit odd is the monitor that is connected via the dvi-hdmi cable will randomly come on even if neither the PC or laptop is on. Not a big deal, I just turn the monitor off when I am done using it.

[8] I work with two Kubuntu 12.04 Linux workstations continuously connected, and a Windows 7 employer's Lenovo 530 laptop that I connect every evening on returning home and disconnect every morning when heading to work (via a Lenovo docking station continuously connected). My monitors are dual Dell 3007 2560x1600 dual-link DVI, keyboard Avant Stellar (PCI connector via USB adapter), with a Microsoft wireless mouse. When using the laptop, I can use its screen in addition to the two Dells. I can switch among these seamlessly. I even have the less-used Linux workstation normally sleeping, as it wakes up properly as soon as I select it. A nice touch is that one Dual-Link DVI cable of each pair has the USB and audio cables integrated into it, keeping the wiring rat's nest manageable. The only annoyance is that, inevitably, because the external monitor configuration for the Windows 7 Lenovo 530 at the office differs, I need to reposition some windows when moving between home and office. But once I got the Windows configuration set up properly, the laptop at least automatically recognizes which monitor configuration it's connected to. (Because the DVI outputs of the Lenovo docking station are single-link, it's necessary to use its HDMI outputs and interpose Accel HDMI to Dual DVI converters between it and the MiniView.)

[0 to 80%] It was easy to set up and install. It's very straight forward. It switches between 2 computers as it's meant too. I would recommend if this is your intended goal.

[0 to 80%] This is the best KVM that I have ever owned. It works very well for two monitors. I game with it and I do not notice any video or audio degradation. Computers boot better on this kvm than any other kvm that I have owned in the past. Hotkey switching has worked perfectly after getting a wired keyboard; wireless keyboards are not supported. It is a large unit and it is under my computer table. I have never had to reach under the table to correct this kvm. I like it a lot and recommend it for anyone who wants to switch computers via two monitors. I did buy this at BH Photo and am happy.
